RavenOfSummer Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I am LOVING this deck I stumbled across on Facebook. It is a woodland deck based all on native UK animals. You can sign up to follow progress here on the website, or follow on Instagram. According to the co-creator Stephanie Burrows a Kickstarter campaign is coming in March 2020!
Nanook Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Wow! That is beautiful. Thanks for sharing it.
reall Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Woah! Beautiful! Animals my fav!^^ tnx4sharing!^^lol
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 a pencil sharpened with a knife. You don't need a thousand dollar app if you have skill 🙂 Lovely art, although the 'tarot' is hard for me to see.
Mi-Shell Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Oh!! This looks like something for me!♥ I hope it gets accomplished.
Cobweb Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 I shall have to keep an eye out for this - thanks for posting, Raven. My first thought is that it's really reminiscent of so many of the books of my childhood (Colin Dann and the animals of Farthing Wood anyone?) .... I shall be really interested to see how the British woodland animal theme translates into tarot.
Venus Rising Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Wow, this is gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing. I will eagerly watch for this one 🙂
Audelia Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I stumbled across this on Instagram recently and I'm so excited for it! Beautiful images 🙂
RavenOfSummer Posted April 4, 2020 Author Posted April 4, 2020 Just wanted to share that the Oak, Ash, and Thorn Tarot is available to back on Kickstarter as of today!
RavenOfSummer Posted April 5, 2020 Author Posted April 5, 2020 This deck is now fully funded! Less than 2 days, with 28 to go! Working towards a few stretch goals 🙂
geoxena Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 People always seem to mention "stretch goals" when talking about Kickstarter campaigns. What, exactly, is a stretch goal?

What, exactly, is a stretch goal? For a lot of crowdfunding campaigns, the creator will have a base amount they need just to fund the project going forward, and if they reach additional amounts after that then backers can get additional goodies on top of the project they supported. For example, I've seen deck campaigns have things like extra cards, stickers, deck bags, deck cloths, or upgrades from a tuck box to a two-piece box, that kind of thing, depending on how much the campaign raises above and beyond what they need just to fund the project itself.

FindYourSovereignty Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 (edited) It is beautiful art. I’d appreciate hearing insight if there is symbolism in the cards that help with reading or if this is more of an art deck? There is not going to be a guidebook to share why the artist selected the images. Edited to add: Where on the scale of 1 -10 beginner deck being 1 to experienced reader deck being 10, would you put this deck? Thank you. Edited April 6, 2020 by FindYourSovereignty

RavenOfSummer Posted April 6, 2020 Author Posted April 6, 2020 @FindYourSovereignty and @geoxena, I have backed it so will be happy to share my thoughts once I have the deck, though based on the production schedule I won't have it in hand until late summer at the earliest. (The deck WILL be available to purchase at that point though the crowdfunding will be finished, but if based on reviews you decide you want it then you will still be able to get it.) From what I have seen I can see tarot symbolism but I think the art is prioritized over the symbolism. So I'll have to see how it reads for me, but will be fine either way since I love the art so much and would want to have it just for that even! But like I said I think I'll really know once I have the deck which won't be for a while. I think in these minors pics you can see more of the symbolism present, but these pics are tiny so it's hard to see a lot from these: 11 hours ago, tarot_cat said: It's beautiful! Agreed! 😊

geoxena Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 (edited) Thanks for your take on it. The artwork is gorgeous and I'd love to see an illustrated storybook by this artist. But this deck is not for me. I already own two decks that feature cute and/or anthropomorphized animals and that's about all I can tolerate of that concept. Besides, I have quite enough decks - so it would have to really move and inspire me to buy any more. But I hope anyone who buys it will be happy with it! Edited April 6, 2020 by geoxena
RavenOfSummer Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 This deck is now 200% funded! Just reached a stretch goal so that every backer will receive a tarot cloth made with reclaimed fabric and dyed with natural plant dyes 😍 Super excited!
RavenOfSummer Posted May 2, 2020 Author Posted May 2, 2020 Less than 2 days left in this campaign, for anyone who's been considering it now is the time to act!
dust Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 I'm really curious to know how this turned out! I remember looking at it and adding it to my wishlist back when it was still in the Kickstarter stage. People who got this deck, what's it like?
Niobium Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 It's a really interesting deck but I don't use it on the regular. The imagery is...I won't say it's too cute, but more like there's the occasionally level of whimsy that doesn't always work for me. (The Chariot is a good example here; I get what the artist was going for, but it's very UnChariot, to me.) It's a good deck for creative endeavors, I think, less so for personal or more serious work (at least IME). I do a lot of writing and GMing using tarot decks and this one is quite perfect for that (nature theme decks often are). Whimsy goes quite well in those arenas, as a source of inspiration. Not so much for personal introspection, though. Again--for me, others might get a lot out of that.
