Creativespark Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Hi there! I was excited to find this community and I hope it will help me be a better reader. Tarot kind of snuck into my life. I’ve been doing a digital daily draw for about two years after I bought a tarot deck on a lark and wanted to learn more. About six months ago I did a reading for someone else at a retreat and when I came home my deck started “volunteering” itself for friends and family, even though I didn’t know what half the cards meant (whoops). Two decks later, I’ve discovered I really love reading even though I have a lot left to learn. As a writer, I love the storytelling aspect of readings. I would love to hear your favorite part of tarot reading! Nice to meet everyone and I can’t wait to learn more about tarot alongside you!
Lady Butterfly Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Hi there @Creativespark and welcome to the TT&M Family! I love tarot because it feels like an old friend offering kind, or at least well intentioned advice.
xTheHermitx Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Welcome Creativespark! Cool question about tarot. I got into it, and have stuck with it, because it seemed like it would open up my mind to new things...and it definitely has. It opened the doors to my further study of religions, spirituality, humankind, sociology, history, languages etc. It (along with rune study) had allowed me to be way more forward thinking; aware of events and what they mean in the past, present and future; I feel like I am more aware of my responsibility to living within the natural systems of the earth
stephanelli Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Welcome to the forum! I love Tarot because it can act as a self-care tool for me. It can help me to see behind some of irrational thoughts to the real meanings of things and provide me with a new and often more positive perspective. 🙂
ShadowMoon Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Welcome to the family! For me tarot is like the old wise lady who always has something profound to tell me. Gives me the much needed food for thought.
FindYourSovereignty Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 (edited) I am also new to the group and grateful ti be here. I love the way Tarot and Oracle cards make me feel; the connections, the relationships, the beautiful story. All if it. Edited December 22, 2019 by FindYourSovereignty
LoveLightPeace Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Hi and welcome to TT&M @Creativespark! 🙂
Creativespark Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome and for sharing your favorite part of tarot reading! I love how it is something a little different for everyone and yet exactly what they need. Like Mary Poppins’ magic-flavored medicine 😁
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 welcome home! I have this on my blog sidebar: Why Tarot You Ask? The cards open previously closed doors to my own heart with their merciless quest for the truth, nothing but the truth. They flay the soul and make me say thank you afterward. Each hour spent with my cards is a new lesson to be learned. Viva la Journey.
joy Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Hello @Creativespark welcome to the TT&M Family
icosahedron Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 (edited) What a lovely question. I started three years ago, as quite a cynic, thinking cartomancy generally was a psychological exercise - a way to make myself think laterally. Very quickly I realized that I could actually get a lot of meaning from the cards, sometimes while being in total ignorance of the situation, so that the readings only made sense later. So these days I use them a lot more like @stephanelli, where I can trust the cards to help me feel better about the future or unfortunate events. Edited December 26, 2019 by icosahedron
katrinka Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Trying to explain why you love something defies words. It's difficult to write a cohesive, rational explanation. Why is it that people love babies? Their heads are too big for their bodies, they soil themselves on the regular, they wake you up at night, and once they start walking they fall down a lot. Imagine an adult doing those things. I love Tarot for the simple reason that I've known it for years - most of my friends from the era when I discovered Tarot are dead, but Tarot is a constant, I can depend on it - and it helps me see around corners. But there's an "X factor" that I can't quite put my finger on.
