groovdafied Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Hi everyone, So I've been studying tarot for less than a year, and I wanted to share my experiences to see if it makes sense. I'm in between books learning tarot, numerology and others. What I try to read is more about information, and not looking for the answers such as "quick and fast methods...," because I feel I need to work for some of my answers and I believe that tarot is no exception. So I read the stories behind each tarot card as a platform (Raider deck) and grew from there. At that point, I would use my feelings (a lot) to read what the cards are saying. This is where I would like to share my process and get your opinion on this. When drawing cards I always start with three. I was told that "3" is a divine number, where I personally learned its like a birth number. 1+2=3 Man plus woman will create a child, the third. And I use that idea that I'm creating something, like a new link of energy for the reading, creating a spark of something that will aid in the reading. I continue to draw more three more cards in a new row, and continue on another row of three. But I don't create any more rows at that point. I start at the first row and draw more cards if needed, but I usually stop on the third row. It occurred to me at this point 3*3=9. Three's creating another number, nine, that has significant importance too. I've learned that its not about just following rules in tarot, but that you understand what they mean by heart. The universe can make sense of anything, but only if you know how to interpret your own rules and listen. Which is why I perform my spread like this. Am I thinking this correctly? Do you believe that I'm on the right track?
Raggydoll Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 I think that if you asked every experienced reader here on the forum how they went about learning tarot then you would get a whole host of different answers. Despite that (or perhaps because of that - since they did their own thing), they all ended up being experienced readers. So I think it’s fine to take it anywhere that you feel called to go. My road to learning has had so many turns and just as many ups and downs. I’ve been into all sorts of things along the way and they all amounted to where I am now. I can’t pinpoint anything that I think was wrong or totally unnecessary. It’s all good. And it’s sounds like you are enjoying yourself, which can never be a bad thing when it comes to learning 🙂
katrinka Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Yes. Everyone had their own ideas. Lines of 3 and boxes of 9 are excellent spreads, I've always used them a lot. I don't put any special significance into the number of cards laid out (and 3 actually IS my birth path number), but if you want to do that, there's nothing wrong with it. Same with the number of shuffles, etc. If it gets the job done, it's all good.
