ThisKindredSpirit Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Hello - Ill just be up front and say Im only a nominal user of the tarot - I find it extremely useful to give myself a little more insight on issues that might trouble me or if I am feeling like I dont have a clear direction, but I only perhaps lay out the deck for myself about three or four times a year. Recently have been dealing with some issues where I really dont want to make a misstep and I did a reading for myself that I thought perhaps if I could discuss with other tarot enthusiasts I might see if my interpretation was on the right track. I have looked at the thread where that is supposed to be posted and am composing my own hopefully to be posted soon. Anyway, Im an empty nester in the Houston area. I am a native Texan and am married with one child who is in college now. I like to write and am currently working on a novel, that sadly has stagnated these last several months because this has turned out to be a very emotional and stressful year and Im having a lot of difficulty realigning myself with my Muse. I also love beads, crochet, archaeology, reading, gardening, and rocks. I hope its okay that I come here to dabble. For my own purposes I found that if I worked with the cards too much, I got weird answers or got even more confused about what I was seeing...so I generally try to wait until Im in a positive or inquisitive state of mind and when I know I will not be disturbed and I generally just do one reading...as that first initial one seems to be the truest and strongest response to my question. Still, have always been curious to talk to others who use the tarot and look forward to reading the threads to learn more...
EmpyreanKnight Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Welcome to the Forums, ThisKindredSpirit. I found out that when I ask the cards a question again and again (with slightly different variations) they would just get fed up and give me the most ridiculous answers. So yeah I just trust the first result they gave since almost always it turns out to be accurate anyway. I hope you learn a lot from here too. :)
sandrang123 Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 It's not uncommon for that to happen with the cards, which is often why I advise not reading for self. THAT said, I do read for myself (lol!) but only when it's a general reading and I have no vested stake in the outcome. If I do have something pressing going on, I always seek out my personal reader, and she's spot on always (probably because she's not emotionally invested). Great to have you here! Good luck with your book. Sandy

Tarot dance Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Hello - Ill just be up front and say Im only a nominal user of the tarot - I find it extremely useful to give myself a little more insight on issues that might trouble me or if I am feeling like I don't have a clear direction, Welcome ThisKindredSpirit...& we were all novices once...this is a great forum for discussion and insight... Now see....I can't read for myself...I read for others everyday just about...I read on line for one of the multiple tarot websites.... When i try to read for myself...it never fails for once i have laid out the cards...all I see is cards with pretty pictures on them... ...Unless I am in a crisis of some sort...but then it's not so much me reading the cards but allowing the cards to be a conduit for my spirits to speak..to show direction & guidance... ...anyway, again...welcome ThisKindredSpirit...I look forward to reading your posts.... :) :D ;D >:(
EmpyreanKnight Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I believe that objectivity might be a sticking point if one performs self-readings, but I still do it a lot. ;D That's why I love my Thoth to bits and why it's firmly ensconced in my top two: it has almost always been accurate. There were times that I kept badgering it for answers to the same question, and I already recounted what happened. Another strange thing tho: it seems like my Thoth only wants to read for me and my family, not for external events and not for others.
