VGimlet Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 Back - and again with the Tarot Z (because I didn't touch it last week).
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Animal Totem Tarot for me, thank you VG
Bodhiseed Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I'm back! I've missed this group. The house is back to semi-normal now (and I have my computer back), but I had to make a middle-of-the-night trip to my mom's (who had a fall). She is healing and back to her independent, stubborn self, thank goodness. This week I'll be using the Light Seer's Tarot, created by Chris-Anne Donnelly and published by Hay House. The other deck I'll be drawing from is the Celtic Lenormand, with artwork by Will Worthington and booklet by Chloe McCracken; it is published by U.S. Games. Today's cards are the Three of Wands and Stars: This gal did her research to find a great place to surf, saved her pennies, then traveled there on holiday. Now she waits to see what the actual conditions are - if the waves are breaking in one direction, not folding over in different places along its length. She'll know soon whether her investment and collected information will pay off. If she can stay aware of what is instead of having too many expectations, she's bound to learn something and possibly have some fun too. The Lenormand card shows a man using a navigational tool that uses the stars for guidance. He's not going to argue that the stars are in the wrong place, he'll understand that he is off course. In the same way, the young surfer may find that the waves are not perfect, but that isn't the ocean's fault. As Mandy Hale wrote, "Sometimes it takes a wrong turn to get you to the right place."
Mi-Shell Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 This will be my last week exploring and doing daily 3 card draws with the Light Seer's. However I have Tarot clients coming for readings and will use my "go to reading decks" the Greenwood and the Tarot of the origins as well as my expanded Medicine Cards oracle.
Amberjune Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 (edited) @Bodhiseed, it's great to have you back! I'm working with the Shakespearian Tarot by Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki and the Eternal Crystal Oracle Cards this week. We are already moving into Aquarius season! So far the winter has been very mild with no snow, spectacular weather for long walks. Happy week everyone! Edited January 19, 2020 by Amberjune
Natural Mystic Guide Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 I shall continue playing with the Bottanical Tarot and Oracle cards.

Sorry, I realize that this is 'off topic'. OK, so you are actively using the other deck that has been at the top of my wish list: the Greenwood Tarot. This one may be reprinted and I am in the loop. Can you explain about your expanded Medicine Cards oracle. I was in mine today. My go to decks for regular client readings right now: Mystic Mondays; The Star Tarot; the Illuminated Tarot (Carol Herzer); and the Tarot of Transformation. I correspond these to the 4 kabbalistic worlds and use which ever deck is appropriate for the subject. I do a 'snapshot' reading in the beginning using one from each deck.
Bodhiseed Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Thank you @Amberjune for the warm welcome back and for posting those lovely photos - both lifted my heart this morning!💚🌻 @Natural Mystic Guide, you might want to check Mi-Shell's wonderful blog. Scroll down a few posts and you will see how she added some cards to her deck with the additional blank cards: https://voicewithinthecards.wordpress.com/category/medicine-cards/
Queen of Nothing Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 I'm back this week with my Madam Clara again. I didn't get to touch it all this past week
VGimlet Posted January 25, 2020 Author Posted January 25, 2020 Tarot Z was okay - it would be fun to read with in October, or for anyone who likes zombies, although it isn't for a beginning reader - it wanders off the traditional meanings. But not awful, like themed decks can be...
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 I found myself quite impatient with the Animal Totem deck this week. I enjoyed the art, but that doesn't make a deck a good deck. Funny how often we see "I bought it for the art" as the criteria for members collections....come inventory time this one probably won't make the grade.

What an interesting comment. For me, aesthetics is the No. 1 criterium by which I select a deck. I am highly sensitive and aesthetics is important to me in every aspect of my life. A deck will be a long term companion and I must enjoy looking at her. So I cannot use a deck that I do not find beautiful even if everything else is great. I do realize that this is very subjective. There are some other very important criteria for me, though. So I have rejected some very pretty decks that do not meet them. My study deck of the week is the Bottanical Tarot and Oracle deck. It is a pleasure to look at. It is far from being a 'traditional deck' or even a deck that will be easy to ready with intuitively -- although I may find that I can do it. I am rather heavily reliant on color and symbols when I read intuitively. So, for example, here we have the Major Arcana card XIII 'Death'. What do we do with this? Pretty, though, isn't it?
Amberjune Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 I didn’t find great rapport with the Shakesperian Tarot this week. Maybe next time....though my collection is extensive, I am not planning to give any of my tarot away. 😉
