13 ~ The Lord of Shadows:~ A shady character is hanging around under a Yew tree in full fruit, watching a father and his son wandering off into the distance after collecting fresh water from the well situated between them and the character loitering behind the Yew. Water is the driving force behind the message of Scorpio and transformation is the key to the initiation of changes. It would seem that the character in the cloak may well be the mother of the young boy and the late, departed wife of the man. For she has undergone the ultimate transformation that we have all come to know as DEATH! Alas for her as for countless others in the otherworld, death is not the end but merely and transgressional path between the here, the now and the future self. She watches on from the shadows with an intense passion to continue to protect her loved ones and keep them from straying too far from the path. She knows deep down that no matter what she observes she can never intervene, but maybe if she whispers or even sends a sign of nature, so long as they remember her then they will surely hear.

The Yew with its berries she stands beneath is a symbol of change, renewal, the illusion of rebirth and the mysteries of longevity. There is also a moth flying so gracefully from the shadows into the misty morning glade, giving meaning of moving from the darkness and into the light.
