Someday I'll have time again to read with my decks on a daily basis - who knows when that will be though, lol.

Back with the Wise Dog for another week.

White Hare Wisdom, a new one for me. Thank you VG... in my working life there were lots of busy beyond belief paired with 'is this all there is'... Work on balance 🙂  Surprisingly it is often in our power. I wish I'd known it then.

Imbolc greeting on the morrow!

This season seems to be particularly trying this year.   Maybe the unending rain Seattle area broke a record for no sunny days and rain in January  ( 30 of 31) which is getting ridiculous even for Seattle.   I always work to find balance, but right now I'm tending toward hibernation.   Heh.

Wise dog is a cute deck, and you know...dogs.

This week I'll be using Poppy Palin's Waking the Wild Spirit Tarot, published by Llewellyn, along with the 2nd edition of her companion book, Stories of the Wild Spirit, published by Slippery Jacks Press. I'll also be drawing from the Saltwater Reading Cards, created by Laura Bowen and published by Rockpool Publishing. Today's cards are the Dance of Life/Web of Fate (Wheel of Fortune) and Rockpool:

wheel%2Bof%2Bfortune.jpgrockpool_0002.jpg

          Palin's description of the Wheel as being web-like points out that we do not move through our seasons in this world without altering what is around us. That interconnection is why it is so important for me to consider not just how my response to the changes and challenges of life will affect me as time passes, but the effect it will have on my web-mates as well. It also reminds me of karma, not the Hindu definition of it, but as Andrew Olendzki describes it: "It is common to think of karma as a sort of fate to which we are subjected, but it is more central to the Buddha’s message that karma is the opportunity we have each moment to choose what sort of person we are to become next." The habits I reinforce or change today will determine who I become in the not-too-distant future, and those patterns will either benefit or harm those around me. Rockpool, carved out over many years by the ocean's waves, provides a place of refuge from the pounding of the surf for organisms such as clams, mussels, and starfish. This card asks me to consider what I'm weaving with my life: a barrier to protect only myself and those I care about or a place of healing and nurturing for all.

Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.

Hello all,

I am back from the Valley of Migraines. The William Blake Tarot and Wisdom of the Forest made for great companions and also worked really well together.

This week I am working with the Last Unicorn Tarot and the Divine Doors (Rockpool Publishing).

Already Winter has reached its deepest point, it's been a very mild one so far. And no snow where I live.

Wishing everyone a great week

@Amberjune, glad the migraines are gone! 🦋

Thank you for the thread, VG. 💝

I'm in with Small Spells Tarot this week. It arrived last week, and I've been loving it.

Black and white cards are always good for me. Plus, I really enjoy reading simple hand drawn symbols, so I'm especially happy with these straightforward images. There also is a feeling of playing cards in Small Spells, which is particularly evident in the court cards. Artist and creator, Rachel Howe writes in her guidebook:

"King and Queens stand in for people, personalities, or aspects of a person. I used the double-sided imagery from court cards in a playing card deck to show how there are both positive and negative traits of each personality."

Since I tend toward playing cards as my favorite divinatory tool anyway, this aspect of Small Spells really gets me going.

PS: I've attached the 9 of Cups, Queen of Cups and 10 of Wands. It looks like the fulfillment of the Queen's wishes turns out to be a great deal of work -- maybe more than she anticipated.

I'm a day late, but woop, life is messy right now. I'm in this week with the Slow Holler Tarot. I adore that deck.

As it is Tuesday, I think that I shall give this group a go next week? --that way I may give the whole week to work on a deck. I've looked back at past weeks just to get a feel and to not ask foolish questions, and I have just one question --How do it get my name and the deck I have chosen for that week at the top in the first comment? Do I just start posting or do I contact someone?

just show up, VGimlet does all the heavy lifting 😉 No rules, no stress, no deadlines here.

Hey...pick a deck and have a week and a half with it! More bang for your buck.

Honest, we just work through all our decks at our own pace, with a very general guideline of a different one each week.

Welcome! and welcome very much to the tarot forum, post away, make this your home

I say "hear hear" to all that AJ said, and add there are no foolish questions (I work in a library, and this is a fact, heh) and you can start anytime you want - however I'm more likely to check the thread on the weekend and less likely toward the end of the week, but I try to stay caught up and make sure everyone is on the thread.    🙂

Since I'm here, I am enjoying the Wise Dog quite a bit, fun,  not too anthropomorphic, with nice art.

Excellent! I've recently purchased some new decks that I'd like to try out and this group is a great place to start. Thank you!

Thank you so much, Bodhiseed. I'm looking forward to it! I've many decks I'd like to get into and I believe this group is the perfect motivation. 💖

The last Unicorn was a favorite movie of my childhood days. I do like the tarot quite a bit, though it does read a bit extreme. Example: I have received a 10 of Swords for my Friday daily draw, which I think related to me finishing reading my book, and possibly the end of my work week. No other endings/ 10 of swords style events occurred for me that day.

Though I like the photos in the Divine Doors deck, the little phrases on the back did mostly not resonate with me. Not sure if I will keep it long term.

@Bodhiseed Thank you! 🙂

@53rdspirit welcome to the thread!
