Ealasaid Enfys Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Hi, everyone! Yesterday I did a general 3-card spread with my RW-deck. It immediately became obvious that the spread was all about corona. I won't go into detail as this is not the place to do so, but one of the cards was 5 of Swords. At first I didn't see the corona-connection - please correct me if someone does - but then I saw some social distancing going on. Not the warm initiatives started to help the needy, lonely, elderly and people who work in health care. But people keeping distance, turning their head, crossing the street when you approach. Diving into their scarfs, no mask at hand. Unfortunately thanks to corona, going for a walk in nature isn't that enjoyable any more. Let's hope we can beat this virus soon! What other cards say 'social distancing' to you? Greetings from Belgium
Barleywine Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) I also thought of the 5 of Swords immediately. Among the trump cards, what else but the Hermit? In the other minor cards of the RWS, the man in the 8 of Cups seems to be disengaging. I sometimes call it the "Poisoned Well" card because the man looks like he wants no part of what's in the cups. sixdegrees Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Yes, the Hermit. And probably also the Four of Cups. Refuse that fourth cup being offered--you don't know where it has been (or if that hand has been washed)!

Decan Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 (edited) I thought about the 4 of Swords too, the man depicted is at rest in an isolated place. No contact or communication. Edited March 23, 2020 by Decan
Ealasaid Enfys Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 Thank you all for your input! The Hermit was indeed one of the other two cards. Quite fitting for my personal situation since I live alone in a city where I don't know anyone. I'm thinking of some other cards as well. Feel free to keep posting. And after that, we can do the same for the hoarders 😋

"I ain't touching that!"
Guest Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 For me, with my pip decks, I would say that it’s the Six d’épée/swords. From the RWS I can see that, too.

Nothing was ever good enough, ever. Didn't matter what was offered. Now, I'll forever look at this card differently, thank you!
53rdspirit Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 I kind of felt like this at the grocery store the other day (I often relate clubs/batons/wands as actual people/community/co-workers,etc.):

My thoughts too. I also had 8 of Swords in mind. Feeling imprisoned. The thought that one look, one word could get you killed. So keep distance! Better safe than sound. I get how serious the situation is and the precautions we have to take are necessary. But I do hope we don't let negative thoughts rule our way of life and thinking and that we can act normally in the few social circumstances we have. At least to a degree.

ImaginaryFriend Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 To look at social distancing in a more positive light (if there is one), I would say the 9 of Pentacles. I see the woman on the card as making the most of the situation - maybe taking time to explore a new hobby without interruption, or just enjoying a few moments of peace and quiet.
