Mystic Tarot Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Sometimes during a reading, particularly when I feel really "in the zone" words will seem to just jump out of my mouth. There are times when I am surprised about what I am saying because I didn't hear it in my mind before the words leap from me! Am I not in control of my readings enough? Also a friend asked me to read her dog, I didn't use tarot but I did draw a picture. She was very amused when the picture of a rectangular shape with dot on it looked EXACTLY like the doggie treats she kept in the cupboard. I've never done this type of reading before - is this a specific branch of reading? After readings I find that spirits in the area get quite energetic, things will fall of shelves and they will make their presence known. Could I be upsetting them?
Lantana Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I’ve definitely experienced the first one! That’s how I’m able to do readings for myself and close friends and stay objective, because I’m too focused on delivering the message that the cards are saying to have my personal desires cloud the message (most of the time ;) ). As for the drawing... I’ve heard of people doing a similar thing with “spirit drawings” but not with living things. I’d want to call this clairvoyance or something but I’m not very familiar with psychic stuff to really know. I will say, I’m a spirit worker and haven’t really ever had issues with spirits getting agitated after readings. Since you have cards already, maybe you could ask whatever is making a mess of the place why they’re doing it and if they could stop?
EmpyreanKnight Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I believe I'm quite well-versed with the traditional and/or book meanings of the cards, but sometimes upon looking at a card I'd feel compelled to chuck them and say/type an entirely different interpretation that I don't remember having come across before. When this happens, my reading becomes very accurate. I've always thought that my intuition needs some tuning up, but I guess there's hope for me yet. :)
spider Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Hi Yes - sometimes I find myself compelled to say something (type as I only do online readings) even as my rational mind is saying "no no no". This is usually when the cards want me to convey something confrontational or very sensitive. I then wait in fear and trembling for the client to come back to me saying I have got it all wrong. Not one of them has done so yet and a few have been amazed at my knowing. I feel when theses insights happen my readings are lifted from accurate to truly insightful. Wish it would happen more often. tarotbyalice Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Perhaps then is when the intuition kicks in. I generally feel the flow during readings and it seems the explanation will not be exactly the same as traditional meanings. I belief it happens when we accidentally connected to certain channel and retrieved those information.
Trogon Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 I have had these things happen quite a few times. The more that I work on my meditations, making sure that I'm open to receiving messages from my own Spirit Guides, and even those of the client, or other spirits around them, the more often that these happen. I was just talking about this with a friend at work (he made the mistake of asking me about the Tarot ... obviously a topic about which I can go on at length. I related an instance where I had done a reading for someone and got some very specific messages from their recently departed grandmother. More recently, I did a reading for a friend at work ... started out as a simple 5-card PPF, but turned into a past-life reading. I posted that reading here; https://www.thetarotforum.com/tarot-readings/past-life-reading-(that-wasn't-meant-to-be)-sakki-sakki-tarot/ And I do agree with others, these are the readings that seem to really amaze our clients, and ourselves as well. I feel when theses insights happen my readings are lifted from accurate to truly insightful. Wish it would happen more often. Spider It probably will happen more often. Since it is happening now, the more readings you do and the more you open yourself up to the messages, the more of them you will receive. I believe I'm quite well-versed with the traditional and/or book meanings of the cards, but sometimes upon looking at a card I'd feel compelled to chuck them and say/type an entirely different interpretation that I don't remember having come across before. When this happens, my reading becomes very accurate. I've always thought that my intuition needs some tuning up, but I guess there's hope for me yet. :) Again, it really is something that will start happening more and more as you work at it. Since you've already experienced this, you know how to recognize it. Sometimes during a reading, particularly when I feel really "in the zone" words will seem to just jump out of my mouth. Actually, to an extent, I think you might want to be less "in control" of your readings. When you have those off-the-wall things pop into your mind, you're being more open to your own insight and probably to messages from your Spirit Guides, or possibly even the client's Spirit Guides and so forth. But you are right in one aspect of maintaining control ... you can't let go of yourself entirely during a reading. This is what "grounding" is about ... so you can keep control of yourself and be able to kind of switch the ability on when you need it and off when you're done. At least, that is my way of thinking on it. Perhaps then is when the intuition kicks in. I generally feel the flow during readings and it seems the explanation will not be exactly the same as traditional meanings. I belief it happens when we accidentally connected to certain channel and retrieved those information. I agree that in many cases, this does happen "accidentally". I'm sure it was for me the first several times it happened. But it is amazing when one realizes that one has this ability built-in in their heads. ;) This is something that I have been working on in myself for years. (I've suffered some setbacks in my abilities due to stresses at work which are now reduced - so I'm able to start working on it again.) As with any other "talent", it comes quickly and easily to some, and others have to work at it for years. For me, meditation and doing lots of readings are the best tools for developing this talent. Others may find different paths and methods. However, I do feel that most people have this ability ... it is trained out of us at very young ages. We may be ridiculed by family and peers, told it is evil by certain religions and so forth. (Or worse methods in extreme cases.) However, we can open ourselves up to these things again. I feel that the hardest part for us, as Tarot readers is to recognize this in ourselves and to be confident in the messages we receive. Actually ... the confidence is probably the most difficult part in all of this. When we look at some card and a phrase, sound, image, or even a taste or smell comes into our mind that has nothing whatsoever to do with the card we're looking at ... it is a little frightening to have to pass that on to our querent. Although much of the time, even these deep flashes I get are still related to the card, but they just go far beyond those basic meanings. For example, not to "blow my own horn", the past-life reading I linked to above was one of those. Especially since that wasn't the reading I started out to do. Sometimes, you just have to accept and believe in what you're getting and go with it. And the more often it occurs, the better you'll be at getting the details.
Esk Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Things like that has happened to me twice, interestingly, in the first 6 months of my tarot journey. It was not about different meaning than the traditional ones actually but I felt some kind of wave of energy, of knowledge coming at me. And the first time there was also feelings like headache, nausea, etc. The cards warned me of a big hangover. And 2 weeks later of course i had the worst of my life, I think my liver is still damaged by this episode. But now i think i'm too logic in my readings, i analyse things instead letting my intuition flow. I think it's part of fear, part of wanting to get back to basis. And I have to admit, part of lazyness .Trogon I like what you say about some people who have to work more than others to get there. I think I'm one of them, and I also need to work on my intuition, for some reason I tend to shut it down, or listen to it just the minimum. At the time when these episodes happened I was more in tune with my intuition, i took time for the readings and for listening to myself. But now I'm so lazy and i lack time that I want to do my reading fast and prefer using my brain lol. I also know a professional reader who told me it happens to her sometimes. And she also told me that you have to have a kind of high sensitivity and be confident in your intuition.
Guest Empathic_Cap Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Yes I have experienced such a thing especially when I'm channeling spirits and entities
Tanga Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Q1 - yes. Intuition. With practice you trust more and more when you want to say stuff that may have no direct traditional link to the cards or that makes you "wonder what the querent will really think when you say that". Q2 - don't know what that's called. Some psychics do do this sort of reading with a drawing - and then continue on to relay information or impressions about what they've drawn. On AT someone drew a picture for me once. Which interestingly turn out to be a description of my frustration with no longer being able to dance (due to injury). They went by the name of Bright Eye... Maybe they're here too... Q3 - no idea about this. I am not a medium and have no experience. Ask them why. Or request firmly that they stop (that's what I'd do...).
Trogon Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 After readings I find that spirits in the area get quite energetic, things will fall of shelves and they will make their presence known. Could I be upsetting them? A friend of mine asked about a spread he could use to do a reading about a spirit hanging around another friend. I remembered that you had mentioned spirits in your question. Anyway, I had posted a spread that might help you out; https://www.thetarotforum.com/tarot-spreads/spirit-spirit-guide-spread-(originally-by-miss_apples)-(5)/
