Namasté. My greetings to everyone

Hi. My name is Manuele, ad I live in Italy. I'm a 26 years old boy, actually...  :)

I fell in love with Tarot more than 10 years ago and I ever feel a call from the mystic and esoterica world.

I just collected Tarot decks for years, without make readings because I thought I was unprepared for such ancient speaking knowledge of the whole human history around the world... So I just bought some decks and simply plunge in the dept of the images, especially in the evening when school's homework were done (or not...  ;) ) and I could find a deeper connection with the cards.

With the passing of time I acquired more culture, more informations, more experiences... but my life never changed.

A years and a half ago I took a radical choice: my life needed to be changed, now!

I started a fight with my inner mental schemes, which were sick and destructive, and some time later I found a spiritual guide which is now my Yoga, Reiki and Life Master.

I changed my whole life in about six months after this meeting, and now, I am conscious of my capacities, even mystic and spiritual capacities that are very uncommon in people, even if I need to train them.

I discovered that my third eye was the point of matching with my essence, that I can see beyond things.

I had many visual experiences like seeing items breathing, or see shapes of details in a card take another form or color while doing a reading...

I'm not am experienced reader but I know I can read very well card with practice, so I am here for that purpose :)

I don't like to use spreads in readings or to "force" cards to answer questions: I let only them to speak at me, the question is only a superficial way to feel what is really needed by the person, why she or he need this situation in his or her life...

Hoping to have great reading and opinions exchanges.

Namaste ShadowChild! I'm glad you have found your way here, welcome.

I similarly see my tarot practice as part of my broader spiritual practice, of which yoga is a big part. So, that's something we have in common :)

I disagree with you about asking questions or using spreads. I think these can be great to use to focus the mind and to tap into the energy of the cards. What I will say is that just because you ask a specific question doesn't mean the cards will answer that question. You really can't "force" the cards to do anything. I've definitely had the experience of asking a question, and then when I pull cards they basically say to me, "You're worried about that, when what you really need to be focused on is this!" Similarly, even if I'm using a spread, I still look at the cards as a whole picture to see what story they tell. Or, sometimes I'm planning to use a spread, and then as I'm shuffling cards start flying out of the deck. I often see that as a sign- "Ok, no spreads today! Just going to lay out some cards intuitively and see what they tell me."

Another thing I love about spreads is it can be a way to be playful with the cards. And as we all know, play is a way we can move beyond the boundaries of the seen or of what we "know" is reality, to see something beyond that. You make connections you wouldn't otherwise make. For example, I'm laying out my cards in the shape of a star. What does that shape invoke to my child self? Or, each of these cards represents one of the planets. How does that stoke my imagination, my brain that can seek beyond what is right in front of me? How does that connect me to something beyond me?

So my point is, asking questions or using spreads is not a bad thing. They can be great ways to connect with the cards. The important thing is to be open to what the cards are telling you. Sometimes that means recognizing the cards are not answering you question, and are instead pointing you to a more important question or are shifting your focus to something else. But, asking a question does not mean that you're not open to whatever the cards have to tell you. The REAL problem is if people look for a specific ANSWER when they read. They want to be told what they want to hear. THAT is not a good thing.

I understand that maybe asking questions or using spreads does not work for you as a reader- that's fine. There is infinite diversity among readers in terms of what works for them. I hope that makes sense :)

Again, welcome! It's a great community here :)

Welcome, ShadowChild - I am glad you made it !

I don't generally use spreads either - but I think this is a "to each their own" thing... I do often do single card readings... :)

Hi ShadowChild! Sorry for the long delay, but I just saw that I hadn't responded.  :-[

This is a great forum for discussing and practicing Tarot. I do find that, for myself a reading is easier to interpret using a spread. The question can be there or not, but I can see the flow of the cards better with a set spread. However, as others have said, my readings do not always follow the set pattern of a spread.

Anyway, it's great to have you here with us! I'm looking forward to your posts.
