Hi crew! Thanks, fire cat! This week will be the last of my Thothy decks, Liber T: Tarot of the Stars Eternal. Besides being a surreal-ish version of Thoth illustrations, it also includes esoteric images assigned to the decans on the minors. I’ll be using Scion’s Handy Guide to the Decans by Shawn Nacol, which he created and generously shared on Aeclectic back in 2005 when the deck came out, to try to figure them out. (It’s a lot of information that I probably won’t do justice to, but I really appreciate it.) Suits are scepters, cups, swords, and spheres. Courts are knight, queen, prince, princess. Interview time: What is your most important characteristic? 5 Swords, Venus in Aquarius, human with the face of a dog + poor person holding a peacock + woman spinning The deck is really its own ideas, which throw other deck ideas for a loop! What is your strength? 5 Spheres, Mercury in Taurus, Osiris with the head of a bull, in the middle of its horns stands the goddess + plowing and working the earth + woman with a child And the tattwas. Another 5. Not only are its ideas a challenge, its physical manifestation, the artwork, is a challenge too. Your weakness? 3 Scepters, Sun in Aries, A woman in green standing on one foot + two-headed with a lotus on its head. Don’t see where the bird theme comes from . . . And the scepters are lotus stems. The deck goes forward and doesn’t wait for the user to catch up! What can you teach me? Prince of Swords, air of air, Sun in Capricorn and Venus and Mercury in Aquarius (the offset court decans with their planets. Interesting.) This is very much like the Thoth illustration, just in this artist’s style. It can lead me down an intellectual rabbit hole, like it did Scion! How can I learn it? 4 Spheres, Sun in Capricorn, a wise woman and a banker gathering his money + having before her book the tail of a fish Goat head for Capricorn and the elements. I can learn a lot of esoteric nonsense by being studious and holding on to the information in physical form (books and decks) I already have. What will be the outcome of our work together? 3 Spheres, Mars in Capricorn, the face of a bull on the body of a man + a man throwing a javelin at a bird above two women embracing a single man This illustration is the cover of the box. Another Capricorn, 4 and 3 Spheres. Two women embracing a man, like the Lovers? I will appreciate this deck as an artifact: something that I’ve had for a long time and want to keep. And as a work of art, odd as it is. Ok, well, we’ll see about that! The starry background is always there but kind of subtle. In case I’m not clear, the descriptions on the first line (with the +s) are info from Scion’s book. The descriptions on the second line are just my observations of the illustrations.

I used to 'interview' each deck and record the questions and which cards came up. While this was fun to do, I found it didn't really work for me. So many of the decks resonated differently in use than they implied they would in the interview. So I don't do that any more. Instead, I handle the decks a lot before I start using them. If there is a good book that comes with the deck, I read that. I look at each card, and try to get beyond my first impression of the card. Once I feel ready, I do a few readings for myself with the cards. And go from there.

Such endeavors can be beneficial, as they keep us active and involved with others. But at times they can become a burdensome demand. Comfrey has historically been used in salves and poultices to treat bruises and sprains. Its message is: "There can be too much of a good thing. Stop. Step away. Soothe yourself. Cut it down and it roars back to life." Like this herb, when we cut down our work and take time to rest, we can rejuvenate ourselves. Wren is a tiny bird with a big voice. It reminds us that people don't always accept what we're trying to them, but we need to have the confidence to stand up for what we need. Trying to please others rather than taking care of ourselves only leads to resentment, burnout and health issues. As Anna Taylor said, "You teach people how to treat you by deciding what you will and won’t accept."

I've always related both the traditional RWS Devil card, and this gorgeous, inspiring song, with addiction / recovery. The nice thing about this track is it is up to one's own interpretation of what the river equals. For the sake of this post, I'm going with a deck from my collection that is quite straightforward. Bohemian Gothic Tarot, Baba Studios, 3rd edition. What's your take on this song?

I don't know if anyone has suggested it yet, but I'd also recommend Vinted. It's easy to spot counterfeits if you know what you looking for and offers a lot of options; including some Indie decks ( I got my BPH's Witches Tarot through Vinted) and occasionally OOP can be found too.

To be honest, I dedicate two weeks up to a month of extensively using a deck to get a feel of its energy. I also enjoy doing Deck studies where I take notes on Symbolism and the guidebook/ LWB it came with and try to marry the two :).

I granny shuffle. Basically dunk the cards face down on your surface and just mix and spread them around with your hand(s). It's the only way that I've found to be able to shuffle for reversals and keep it truly random but does require more room then just riffle shuffling.

Yes and No. My Sister whom I love snd respect can touch and shuffle my cards, but not my mother. I think it's very much to do with a threshold of trust and comfort for me. I'm also a private person in general and don't shuffle in public ( besides I have limited range of mobility due to my disability so I only shuffle at home or only would in closed spaces)

When I was a child - Sunday was church going day. My parents were losely Catholic, and my father liked to take us to "ye old Cathedral" for sunday mass, followed by lunch at Intercontinental Hotel. I enjoyed choosing my "sunday best" - which was how 'putting on your best frock for church' was described in our culture, and joining in the hymns (although they were never as good as hymns at school - because those, we practiced well, with harmony). I enjoyed even more my favourite Sunday lunch. Spaghetti bolognaise 🙂 followed by chocolate something or other. I was never truly Catholic and after I left home - I spent sometime exploring different spiritual formats until I found the perfect fit for me. Today - I am a progressive Wiccan (eclectic Wiccan, initiated and mostly solitary). AND - the Sabbath, is still a day of rest and spiritual reflection for me. Except now - instead of mass, I spend time in my garden keeping it in order with planting and trimming, and also, keeping an eye on the greenery that is a little further afield in our neighbourhood communal gardens. As a neo-pagan - my church is traditionally the outdoors in nature. And while I go about everything that I'm doing, I contemplate my spiritual path, with gratitude for the beauty & bounty, of nature and the earth, and thoughts of the spiritual correspondences with all the things that I encounter as I do my work. I may even sing as I do this. Today I have: -Bees - Potnia (Greek Mother Bee Goddess), Ah-Muzen-Cab (Mayan Bee God), Bees are the tears of Ra (Egyptian God), and - the magick of the bees - in Mead - the worlds oldest alcoholic drink. -Grapes - Dionysus (Greek God of wine), Bacchus (Roman God of wine), Hathor (Egyptian Goddess of fertility & love), Osiris (Egyptian God of the dead), Sky Spirits (Native American Iroquois, grapes were gifts from the Sky Spirits). -Butterflies - Psyche (Greek Goddess, guide of the dead), The fiery souls of Aztec warriors, & the returning souls of the departed (the Monarch Butterfly and Dia de los Muertos in Mexico). Zuni people (Native American) predicted the strength of summer by the first coloured butterfly they saw. -& Plums - Beauty in adversity, and the food of the Gods (Chinese), Ward/Amulet against evil (Japanese & English folklore). Sometimes on a Sabbath - I am actually in the company of other pagans, in ritual celebration. This is when I happen to find an open pagan moot (meeting), that I fancy attending. What are your Sunday Rituals?

The Past Month, card No. 1 provides an opportunity to look back over the entire previous month with an eye to what theme(s) played out and what lessons were learned. Cards 2 through 5 look at the energy for each of the four upcoming lunar weeks. It's snapshot look at what to expect and what to look out for. Developing an awareness of the phases of the moon is a great spiritual practice. This is the Tarot of the Four Elements by Isha Lerner and Amy Ericksen. . Card No. 1: XXI Oreget 'All That Is' Intuitive Tarot / Active Dreaming Circle. Card No. 2: Four of Wands Mishkan 'Sacred Space' Circle Meditation. Card No. 3: XVII Na'arah 'Hope' K'li Hanecha Bahasa Indonesia. Card No. 4: Maiden of Pentacles 'Artisan / Athlete' Exercise program. Card No. 5: Two of Cups 'Engagement' Family time.

Of course. Take the Fox as an example. Normally, it would exploit the cards it touches, especially those to its left, right, and below (diagonals included). The severity is increased the closer it falls to the significator. Suppose you have all that in a Grand Tableau, but decide to look at the house the Fox occupies and find it on 8-Coffin. The Fox would still seek to exploit the querent and all of its own surrounding cards (something is still wrong and we should still be cautious, in other words), but it's trapped in the casket itself. In other words, he is setting up a trap for you without knowing he is already standing in the grave himself. The demon is leashed. I would thus restrict what the Fox can do to the other cards with that detail in mind, where it's relevant. Whatever trick he's got up his sleeve is dead before it's even pulled. He may as well be likened to a hissing and fussing cat with no real damage done. This is just how I have worked with the houses thus far, and why I am careful with how often I use them and where I need to use them. In my experience, the houses don't define/affirm the cards that occupy them in the usual way (or else I would have read the Coffin and the Fox like a combination, which definitely means something alarming). The house itself is stagnant; it doesn't engage with the card it hosts beyond giving it its own hue. It is the card on top that is animate and reacts to the atmosphere; that reaction is carried out to the neighboring cards, based on what four walls that one card is constricted in. Because the cards in the houses are considered separately, on their own, it is the individual card that is possessed by the house it falls on (more like a state that the one card on top is forced to be in, rather than a sentence with the two combined; you dump the Fox in the casket, you merge the Serpent's venom with the Fish on top, etc). The card is thus altered in one way or another, and behaves differently in relation to its neighboring cards, for better or worse. I hope that was clear.
