Raggydoll Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 We already have a list for decks that feature diversity (you can find it here), but I feel that we should have a list that highlights all the fantastic decks that are made by black, indigenous, people of color. All types of decks are welcome here, we can separate the list into Tarot, Oracle, Lenormand, Cartomancy. Please help us create this valuable resource! UPDATE: Following discussions amongst the staff regarding some of the suggestions, we have decided to highlight work here by creators who fall under the BIPOC definition and also the BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) definition which is commonly used in the UK. katrinka Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 The Black Tower Tarot is back in print. What's great about this one is that it features real people. https://khannibalism.bandcamp.com/merch/the-black-power-tarot-by-khaneaton And of course, the wonderful Hoodoo Tarot.

Decan Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 (edited) The Hoodoo Tarot is still on my wish list!! @Raggydoll I remember of the Ghetto Tarot (people spoke about it on AT years ago); hoping there isn't controversy with this one though (cultural appropriation, I'm not sure) Edited June 20, 2020 by Decan
Raggydoll Posted June 20, 2020 Author Posted June 20, 2020 I found a list online and I will add all those here. If any of you find lists then please share! https://shoppeblack.us/2020/04/black-owned-tarot-and-oracle-decks/

We will only include decks by black, indigenous, people of color 🖤 If the deck is not featured in the big list of diverse decks then we could add it there.
katrinka Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 Asian is relevant here, isn't it? There's Benebel's deck. The Osho Zen might fit here too. I think Osho is from India?

Raggydoll Posted June 20, 2020 Author Posted June 20, 2020 Here is another, great resource. It lists both decks made by BIPOC and those that include BIPOC. http://www.browngirltarot.com/library/
gregory Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 (edited) Hand of the North, by Neil Graham, born and bred in the Yukon - technically Caucasian, but totally Yukon. I think it counts... https://zh-hk.facebook.com/pg/upyernose/about/ VERY unobtainable, but still. This is all I can find on line about him: https://upyernose.wixsite.com/yukon There are threads on AT, but no images. So here are two from my database. Edited June 20, 2020 by gregory

gregory Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 It is - but I have to say I'm not 100% certain it should count.

I'm third generation made in Africa but am still definitely a white-boy. Great thread, btw. Yknow, when I signed up to twitter last year sometime I was rather surprised to learn that there are a hell of a lot of black peeps into tarot. I mean, that's not surprising in and of itself, but they're not well represented as far as the prominent tarosphere is concerned. Mama Whodun being an exception, I suppose. Edit: I posted this before I saw Raggy's reply. Edited June 20, 2020 by devin

Using my Google-fu I found the Black Rebirth Major Arcana Tarot Deck by Yolanda Acree (https://www.makeplayingcards.com/sell/marketplace/black-rebirth-major-arcana-tarot-deck.html)

MoonBear Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 (edited) Sorry but I have to disagree on the osho zen Tarot osho is indian, yes but the book and the cards are not from him but from a white american womanso it doesn’t fit i think This deck was inspired by his talks and books but he was never part of the creation process as far as I know Edited June 20, 2020 by MoonBear
Decan Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 For the Delta Enduring tarot I saw it while googling, and found it nice! But Egan (the artist) isn't black: http://www.deltaenduring.com/about/egan/
Bodhiseed Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 I would agree with Moonbear about the Osho Zen - it's creator isn't in the BIPOC group. https://www.sannyas.wiki/index.php?title=Ma_Deva_Padma

I will remove it

I definitely should have.

I don't own the deck and always just assumed it was his.
