Hi. I am new here. I have known about and sparingly had my tarot cards read for me maybe 10 times total over the course of a year and a half. Then I finally bought my own deck, which sat there and I did not hardly use due to lack of knowledge for at least 6 months. I recently realized, a few days ago, that I could ask it yes or no questions and understand the answers by googling the cards. I have an important story to ask. Over the last few days I've been asking it A LOT of questions as I am naturally an extremely inquisitive person, and also have a very specialized knowledge about the truth of this realm. I have been asking it questions I can only …

Hey there. Newbie here. When learning and studying cards some sources have some variations in card meanings. When you're learning to read and interpret the cards do you tend to stick to one source of meanings for consistency, the source that resonates the most with the current spread of the cards and questions asked, intuition of what definitions resonates with you, or something else entirely? I'm currently learning with my ~25 year old Rider Waite Tarot Deck and I find, primarily in the lesser arcana, some differences on interpretation between the booklet that comes with the deck and more modern sources.

When you read the cards, are you using your own intuition/speaking with your higher self? OR Are you asking some other Source (Ancestors, Spirits, Angels, etc) to come through? I've been reading Tarot for 20 years and I always assume my own higher self is "who" comes through the cards. As if I'm just unlocking things already known deep in my subconscious. I'm not really trying to communicate or ask my questions of another Source. But recently I was with a friend who did a ceremonial invitation to her Spirit Guides before reading the cards. And it was a shock to realize there are other ways of using Tarot cards! So now I'm curious how many…

Discussion: who reads fully clear and sober? Who prefers a bit of alcohol or other indulgence? Old pic here with a shot of spiced rum for the spirits. I no longer drink or even smoke nicotine, and my sessions are more satisfying than ever before. Everyone is different, however, so share what works for you. Please don't mention things that are illegal let's keep this thread unlocked.

When reading the tarot, are you intuitive, or do you rely on traditional meanings? I am a combination of both. I am 30% intuitive, 70% rely on traditional meanings.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for opinions on deck quality from the various major publishers of decks. For example decks printed by US Games, Lewellyn etc rather than self published decks. How do you find the card stock and durability of these kind of mass produced decks? Is one company better than another in any respect?

    1) So your shuffling your deck and your going to do a 3 card smaller reading... Out falls a card as your shuffling, so where you going to use it in your lay out? Ive never used the one that falls out, due to not sure where id put it? To clarify? or as a beginning first card? What would you do? 2)Where would you put it in a larger reading?

Does anyone have plans for working with their cards as we begin the new year? These could be certain elements of your practice you want to focus on, things you want to learn, working with certain decks, etc. I am recommitting myself to a daily tarot practice. The power of working with the cards in bringing other important aspects of my life and journey into focus is profound in my experience, and I can really see the difference between when I am at least doing a simple reading each day and when I am not. My tarot practice also supports my journaling, and my journey through the Bardic grade Druid course that I am currently on. I want to continue to deepen my lunar …

I have a few questions about daily readings since it is a very personalized experience. It is for reseach in my bachelor thesis (and my own curiousity). I am super grateful for anyone who can help me out! How do you do daily readings? What are you usually trying to find out when you do your daily reading? Do you read only upright or also reversed? Do you have all the card meanings memorized or do you have to look them up sometimes? Have you ever taken notes about your readings? Thank you so much!

Calling on my intuitive readers. I need helpful hints! Starting out and developing my intuitive senses makes me nervous. It is a huge step for me! While making mistakes will be inevitable, I'm calling on those who have experience in the intuitive reading realm. What are some of the biggest mistakes you've made in the past, particularly when you were first starting off? I think this will help me as I start out on my intuitive journey. It won't prevent me from making my own mistakes, but it will help me look out for common stumbling blocks that the beginner may want to look out for. [Just a reminder that this is a safe space. The last thing we want …

According to the hermetic sciences, everything has a vibrational signature that is in harmony or sympathetic with something else usually using a planet, a metal, a zodiac, a rune, Hebrew letter, etc. By taking the phonetic structures of the sounds we can find the correspondences from the Hebrew letter to the English letters. This allows us to easily apply the English language to the alchemic mix used in the past. Each letter having a basic tone means that the combinations of letters into words gives us a more complicated tone. A nice metaphor would be a single letter is much like a tuning fork whereas a word is like recreating that note on a violin with all of the t…

Hi all! Apologies for two things. 1. If my question is offensive to any one. 2. I did not know where else to post this question, so posted it here. I am asking with the intention to learn, not questioning anybody's beliefs or anything. so please forgive me for asking this question. Below is the reason why i am asking this question in the first place. So about 6 years ago, I had a tarot reading done. I was immediately intrigued by tarot and wanted to learn it. The lady who read our cards became sort of a friend and so I asked if it would be a good idea for me to learn tarot. For that she said, "why do you want to spoil your nice married …

I come across tarot readers that offer readings for a mere US$1. How could they justify the time and energy they put behind the readings? What do you think of such readers?

Every now and again, I remove all my court cards from my deck before doing a reading. Sometimes I'm just NOT in the mood to wrestle with who/what any court card in the layout will refer to. I know that's probably heresy—but I've found that the results I get are usually quite clear and accurate without them. And much simpler to deal with. Anybody else ever do—or try—this? I'm not advocating this approach, by the way. Just curious.

I'm still new to tarot. I'm not accurate enough to read for other people, but I want to practice, practice, and practice. I feel stuck because of the pandemic. I spend most of my days at home alone, without any outside stimulus. I barely see any friends, and my family is far away too. There's nothing going on in my life I haven't done multiple readings on. I feel silly asking the same questions all the time, and I wouldn't want to focus on the loss of my job and all the stress it has on me either. What kind of readings would you do if you were in my situation?

I'm sure this has been broached, here, before, but can't find anything about it in the search option, so, what, in your opinion, is the best accompanying book, booklet or LWB you've ever come across for any Tarot deck? And... any separately published Tarot deck specific book that blew you away? I'll start by saying that, for me, the Druidcraft is one of the very best, if not the best combo I've come across so far. Looking forward to discovering others from you. :D

I was wondering if anyone else here is doing tarot spreads for every (major) phase of the moon and for every sign the moon is in? I read the Moonology book earlier this year as I wanted to connect more with the moon. I also watched some YouTube videos on the same topic. Then I decided to try a new spread for every phase that the moon is in and write it in my journal. I have had quite a lot of fun and insights while doing so! So, is anyone else doing something like that, and would you like to discuss it? (and maybe share spreads for upcoming moons?)

What do you think. Do you need to be alert and fully conscious to read? Do you do readings when you're in need of a nap? Does it help or hinder to be five steps closer to dreamy dream land? I'm asking because I'm tired a lot and even coffee has no impact on me. I feel if I'm too tired there's no way I could make sense of tarot cards. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

I wondered something. Let's say I'm in a moment where I'm having a lot of fear about something. I do a reading during that emotional state, and the cards I pull tend to validate my fear, which makes me more afraid. But if I calm down and come back to the question later, I may get a totally different result. Maybe a positive one that puts my fears to rest. Do any of you ever experience anything like that? And if so, what do you make of it?

The question makes it seem a little bit different than what it is. I have had readings from others and I have done some on myself about a situation that I am currently in. It is a situation that I feel I desperately need and want answers about. What it boils down to is that I have a stalker. I have a counselor, psychiatrist, lawyer, and the cops all involved. So, I am handling it as thoroughly as possible. But, whenever I have came to tarot to understand anything over the last 3 months, the cards always seem to tell me that I just have to sit back and let the story unfold, I am to do nothing but let the universe do what the universe does, I will have answers when the time…

I made a comment that people who have been reading for years and years have done a ton of readings. You can find the comment here: https://www.thetarotforum.com/talking-tarot/people-testing-you/msg35906/#msg35906 So I got to thinking it would be fun to find out how many readings for other people this community has performed! It's totally anonymous but if you wish to share how long you've been reading the tarot in relation to how many readings you've done for others would add more to the survey. ;D
