Just starting to get into using tarot cards more often, and I have a question: have you noticed if there is a particular time of day that works best for you to do your readings? I've tried pulling cards in the morning to get insight for my day, and I've also tried doing spreads at night when I can light candles and really get in the mood. Sometimes I feel more focused in the mornings and can more easily schedule it into my day, but some of my best readings have come at night. What have you noticed? Is there a particular time of day that you like to do your readings? I'd especially like to hear if anyone has a routine at a different time of day than I've tried. Thanks!

l know this deck of Chiro's has been out for a long while. it was always at the back of my mind to investigate it but never got round to it. That is until now. Suddenly had this urge to look at the Youtube reviews to see if the cards peaked my interest. Well they did, and l wanted a closer look at them in real life. l managed to get a brand new deck and book for a very reasonable price. Wow! is all l can say, the book and Chiro's story is wonderful l had to read his story twice. The meeting he had with Gianluca Colombo de Savoy was so well written l could believe it really happened, though obviously it was based on his dream. The cards are amazing, there is someth…

I've decide to jump on the bullet journal bandwagon! So I bought myself an unlined art journal (couldn't find any cheap dot grid ones), a selection of different highlighters, some random pretty stickers and some felt tips. But now I'm stuck! I have no idea what kind of stuff I could be putting in this thing 😂 I've gotten as far as making the cover pretty (thanks to some copper contact paper and a pretty sticker), a title page (thanks new highlighters and pretty stickers!), an index/contents page and a star chart (not entirely sure why but why not?). So... where to now...? Does anyone else use bullet journals? Any suggestions as to what I could add to mine? An…

So... I've been dabbling with tarot for a while (several years), but now (and for the last month) I'm really into it. I love it. It is my passion. But, heretofore, I have only read for myself. I think I am now at a point where I can -- and where I kind of *need* to -- start reading for others. But, I'm scared. Seems like such a big jump, and what if I screw it up? Or if nothing happens? I would really appreciate any advice about making the jump from reading and playing with cards in private, to actually reading for other people. Thanks gang!

It is the only card I know like the back of my hand and one I identify with on a personal level. I am a scorpio rising and venus so transformation is definitely my thing. Though I like it because I know it, I hate the after math of it. It is usually accompanied by hurt or loss as that is when I have to transform the situation and myself. I have to rebuild from the beginning, did I mention I had scorpio placements? I HATE letting go lol

Hey, a friend of mine introduced me to tarot. I always liked occultism and gave a try and I liked it. She used to draw me her cards, but sometimes we spend a time without talking. Since that, sometimes I draw them from some random online websites. Can I take them as a real draw? I don't know how to interpret them at all so I just get some hints from what each card means. Oddly enough I am going through something rn and the drawing matched my present perfectly.

So I recently got the Ethereal Visions Illuminated deck, and I love it. Really beautiful images that speak to me, overall. It's a RWS system deck, and mostly follows that. There are, as expected, a few cards which feel a little bit different than their traditional RWS counterparts. The five of swords, for example, lacks the sneering superiority of the RWS card, and instead feels sadder. Generally I incorporate those feelings into my readings. Some cards are a bit tricky, like the four of pentacles, which is so much more sensual than the RWS image - it's a very different love of money kind of card, but I think I can work with it fine. The Moon just takes a complet…

Have you ever tried to read on a specific issue, only to realize later that the cards you have been receiving do not reference that particular issue, but rather the general energies in your life? How would you make sense of this, or mitigate such a tendency?

I had the Ace of Swords fall for a friend and they’re battling a major illness. I’ve also seen this card combined with the 10 of Swords to represent a fatal or near-fatal illness. Beside context and intuition, how do you know which meaning the Ace is giving? When is it illness and when is it razor-sharp intellect and wit? Or a mastery over illness or a mastery of intellect? Thanks again so much, Rarehare

I was trying to track down some information on the Kurmay Tarot this morning and there doesn't seem to be any updated content on Adam's site since 2015-ish? And I'm not finding anyway to search his blog? (I did find a short blurb on the Kurman there via another site) http://www.alchemywebsite.com/tarot/tarot_weblog.html Is he indeed no longer updating it? Is there a new site? I did find he is on facebook https://www.facebook.com/tarotcollection and his is doing an exhibition of Beth Seilonen decks this June . https://www.facebook.com/tarotcollection I did find he is offering some of his decks on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/a…

I'm subscribed to Benebell Wen's blog so I got an email about these two offerings. She has a bonus offering of a printable mini-Vitruvian deck with any purchase of her 2020 Metaphysical Planner - https://benebellwen.com/2019/09/03/skt-vitruvian-mini-do-it-yourself-printables/ - and will include a tutorial on the printing and putting it together. She has also made some downloadable printable stickers available for free on her blog - https://benebellwen.com/2019/09/05/skt-3-x-5-tarot-stickers-template-download/ - which are pre-made 3 card spreads (using her Vitruvian deck) that are designed for specific goals/aspirations in life. So, I have a question for all of you who do readings for others, whether professionally or just for fun How many of you have the sitter actually tell you their question before you draw, and how many have them keep the question to themselves and just do a read of the cards with the intent that the sitter applies the information themselves? Is there a protocol? I rarely read for others (I don't think I am "good enough" yet), but when I do, it is never a business exchange, so I always have the sitter think about the question, but not reveal it to me. I then usually do a 3 card spread, or maybe 4, (or whichever type I am learning) and expla…

I've just bought several decks and also got velvet bags to store them in, which has me thinking about the best ways to store my decks when not in use. Obviously, out of direct sunlight and not near heaters and so on, but I wondered how others store their decks when not in use. Do you have a special rite or ritual when putting the cards away or taking them out? Do you have a special box or cloth you wrap them in? Do you display them somehow? (Daniel, if this is in the wrong spot, please move to the right one, thanks!)

That moment in which you are doing a prediction reading for a friend and you see yourself in the damn cards, doing stuff in the future...stuff that you WERE thinking of doing, but still not sure about it. Creepy as hell, i had to decide between: 1) Being honest and passing as egocentric, and obviously announcing the intentions I had, which I wasn't even sure about 🥲. 2) Being vague and abstract on purpose, so they wouldn't associate the prediction with me, at least at that moment. I chosed the second (i know i know, is not the most ethic thing), but the funny part is that 6-7 weeks later i ended up fulfilling the prediction, after much th…

Do you use spread cloths when you lay out your cards? If so- what kind of cloths do you use? Do you make them yourself? Purchase them? Use scarves or other pieces of fabric you happen to have around? I am wanting another spread cloth or two, so am curious what others use. I have one altar cloth/tarot cloth with a depiction of the Horned God that I use that is beautiful and very well made. Other than that I tend to just use scarves that I think are pretty. I don't always use cloths when I lay out my cards though, especially if I'm just doing a simple reading for myself.

Hello, Everyone. It’s been awhile since I’ve logged in here. I’m reading a lot about archetypes from a number of sources and, at the same time, learning new songs on my guitar. One of my favorites is Tom Waits ‘Shiver Me Timbers’ and this morning I started thinking that it might contain an archetype if leaving or the one who consciously leaves everything behind. Also a very beautiful song. I First thought of the fool but the man in the song is not an innocent. He is longing for something and he does have a structured life he is yearning to leave behind, A wife and friends he trusts to break the news of his leaving to her. So which card? Maybe the four of wands as…

Hello everyone, So I am experimenting with a technique in finding squares and challenges in my birthchart, pairing the planetary aspects with the Tarot and seeing what insights I can get. I wanted to see your opinions on how the cards Judgement and Wheel of Fortune could create turmoil or opposition in their pairing.

Proper numerology with tarot deck order & numbers to reversals? Major arcana, wands, cups, swords, pentacles the original way to read tarot with numerology starting from 0-77? What is the exact method for accuracy? Also, what are the numbers meaning when reversed? Does this play with number opposition? Has anyone figured it out before?

Hi all. How much time do you think should be allowed to pass before reading again on the same topic? One where the querent’s position (or yours) may not have changed, but other factors might? Relationships for instance? A week? 6 weeks? And at what point would you recommend a new reading, to make sure you understand *current* circumstances, and are not considering outdated info?

Back on AT we had some entertaining discussions about how to handle the shuffling, cutting and dealing of the deck. Other than resorting to pulling cards from a "fan" (where's the mystical charm in that?), I've always found the traditional methods too restrictive as a representation of the the entire deck. Here are a few thoughts on the subject, which will hopefully re-ignite some of the old debate. https://parsifalswheeldivination.com/2019/07/14/cutting-remarks/

So after some back and forth periods of weariness about the Tarot I am truly out of the woods. Not only do I not worry about what I'm doing, I am growing in excitement to become a better reader and bond with my decks but I find that I don't really know how to do that. I want to start reading for myself again or reading on things by myself somehow, just to become regular and familiar with my decks. I'd like to start keeping a deck with me all the time, I know that some people pull a daily card and meditate on it. But basically I just have trouble coming up with questions TO ask my decks, I'm not very curious about my own life I'm quite content to let it unfold as it do…

Hey! Sorry if this isn't the right space, I'm new!! What card has been recurring for you guys lately? Any ideas why? In what context, maybe? I just thought this would be a fun thread as I've had a card of my own tacked onto my life recently and wanted to see if others have too lol. I've gotten the lovers A LOT lately. Every single time I've done a sit down for the past two weeks, in fact. It even came flying out of the deck like a bat out of tarot hell twice while shuffling today lol. Yesterday it popped out when I was taking the deck out of the bag!!! Very odd. How about you guys? Any card stalkers??

Hi all! My first post, so I hope it's in the right place.... I'm a new Tarot user, and as such am very much learning as I go. I make sure I do a daily 3-card spread. I do find 'linking' the cards quite hard. Today, I pulled the Seven Of Wands, Nine Of Pentacles, and Justice. I read that as keeping up my confidence, appreciating what I have, and that I'm on the right path (an explanation I read of Justice?) That would fit with me right now - I'm in need of some good luck, though.....
