Greetings folks! I'm in the process of creating my own tarot deck, and as a result, I am getting into the fine details of each tarot card from the Smith-Waite deck. Naturally, the internet provides me with a ton of information, even too much at times. There are the occasional instances where I have questions about something specific that I see on a tarot card and when I look it up online, I find that there is more than one answer or opinion. While I understand that the tarot can be seen and interpreted in many ways, some of the imagery is obviously meant to be more concrete: After all, if something looks like a sword then it's probably a sword, right? I would …

I'm still new to tarot. I'm not accurate enough to read for other people, but I want to practice, practice, and practice. I feel stuck because of the pandemic. I spend most of my days at home alone, without any outside stimulus. I barely see any friends, and my family is far away too. There's nothing going on in my life I haven't done multiple readings on. I feel silly asking the same questions all the time, and I wouldn't want to focus on the loss of my job and all the stress it has on me either. What kind of readings would you do if you were in my situation?

I have a question about daily cards in general and how you all treat them. I do them for myself, sometimes once a day, sometimes I pull for the week. How do you view them or utilize them? Would you see them more as a snapshot of what the day will hold for you, or more like a meditation to learn more about the specific card? I've started mostly using jumpers for the daily draws, and in cases where more than one card comes out, I tend to take that as more of a message I'm meant to receive rather than just something to reflect on. What are your thoughts?

Elsewhere, I mentioned that I am a natural empath. I'd commented that I don't do readings for or about people I have ill-will towards and that because I'm also a practicing magician, I don't want to take on the burden of my negative energy towards them causing them actual suffering (aka black magic): too many things have happened over my life that I can't explain or pin on coincidence for me not to take what I push out into the universe really seriously. I want to talk about this more but completely outside the context of politics or regarding any specific person. ((sorry for before!!)) I want to talk about the benefits and side effects of being a natural empath as a…

Disclaimer: do not read on if you are likely to become upset when contemplating your own demise. We have been talking about this in my coven, as none of us are getting any younger... We were talking about all our magical tools and books and bits and pieces, many of which are rare, antique or special, and what might happen to them when we are no longer here. We have discussed having a “magical executor” who could deal with all the stuff separately from other bequests. Some of us who are authors and scholars will bequeath papers to various museums and archives; some of us have made specific bequests to loved ones and magical colleagues.…

Hey all! To better understand the courts -I was toying with the following idea: Since Majors are seen as higher principles/ideas and courts are often viewed as people/ situations/aspects of our everyday life - I was thinking of pairing each court+ Reversed with its corresponding Major (Mostly looking at the RWS system) This is what I came up with so far and am comfortable with- Feel free to add/change/provide your own insights Queen of Pentacles= Empress- both in terms of creativity, caring for others, growth and of course fertility Queen of Cups= The High Priestess- In terms of being connected to one's intuition, a b…

I've been looking at the correspondence between tarot and astrology and I have a huge problem. All the majors seem to correspond with thier astrological signs no issue...bit when we get to the minors it becomes a mess. My understanding is that each of the majors represent a either a planet or a zodiac sign. And each zodiac sign has 3 minors it is related to called the deacons. If we look at the emperor card, he is also aries. And that's fine...his deacons are the 2, 3,and 4 of wands. Those 3 correspond to certain planets within aries. Looking at the golden dawn correspondence to those 3 cards and referencing numerous sources on astrology , they al…

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. This is my first post here as I just joined. I'd love to know how others see the differences and similarities between the 10 of swords and the death card. Thank you In advance

Hi All, I hope you are well and staying safe :) I have a question! I am new to tarot and had a reading a few days about asking if my ex was going to come back into my life. The answer was 'likely'. Since this reading we had an argument where we blocked each other off everything- so there is no form of communication. Does this mean that the tarot reading has changed now and wont be the same answer? should i ask the question again? Thank you :)

I feel like I understand most tarot cards. I guess the confusing ones that I stop by is always cards like the world & judgment, although I've been working with judgment A LOT. so I would say i'm pretty GOOD at understanding card meanings and what it could mean by just the representation and imagery. I currently even use the tarot deck Wild Unknown, which was my first deck, purchased about 9 months ago. I also bought the OG deck later on but I just didn't want to play around with it tbh. I just love my first deck! but I've also seen the OG one and will think of that one if I ever need more detail :3 But yeah... the connection, it's hard. I can't understand…

Hello Tarot Friends, I have been thinking about how 95% of my tarot decks are either RWS based or Thoth based. And I find it all too easy to lean on the standard RWS meanings or the Thoth keywords with those decks. I want to get out of my cage of pre-packaged meaning and into some new symbolism, new territory. Of course, there is always purely intuitive reading, and I am going to do more of that for sure, especially over in the ISG Reading Circle. But I'm interested in deck creators who have developed their own symbolism for the cards. Creators who have lived with the cards long enough that they've developed their own personal understanding of …

Hi all Having been away from my cards for a while, I've joined a couple of tarot Facebook groups, so that I can interact and do interpretations of card readings. One thing that I've noticed is that more often than not, people will post a photo of cards and ask for interpretations, but give no spread. They will post the question, but then nothing as to which card is in what position. Are spreads optional? Are more people reading tarot cards in a storyboard fashion, or linking key words to form statements? Do you need to have a position to 'frame' the meaning of the card? How many people read tarot without using spreads? T…

After trying to help someone on another site with a reading involving a card not found in any other deck, I was intrigued enough that I figured it would make for an interesting discussion. I don't currently own a deck that has an extra card in it, but I recently ordered one and will have to reflect on it when I get it. One pro seems to be that it makes certain decks stand out from others, and that gives the card itself a mysterious edge. On the other hand, I can't exactly look it up in Holistic Tarot or on the Biddy Tarot website, so I'm limited to whatever information comes with the deck, if any, and that can also make the card very esoteric. As I've lea…

Hello, Lately, I been curious about tarot reading. Okay, more like how do each individuals read the cards? Or more like what is your method? Since no person read the same. Personally, I have to describe the image as well the colors to answer the person question. Hm, does intuitive counts? If not, than sticking to the pretty picture 🤣

I got home from work today to discover my husband had ahd an accident with my new Fairy Lights deck. He'd knocked over some water I'd had set up for doing watercolour painting and had spilt all over some of my deck 😭 then instead of cleaning up all the water he just moved all the wet cards into a pile to the side (I do t even know if he dried them off) and put a cloth over the puddle 🙄 I've put all the affected cards I to the hot water cupboard to dry off properly but they pretty buckled! Does anyone have any advice to help save them? Seems like a silly question but can you iron them flat? Any advice would help!

I was in Costco (warehouse store) today and saw Marseilles tarot images on Cabernet Sauvignon wine bottles! Each bottle had a different Majors card image on it. Tarot and Wine - two of my favorite things together! Prophecy is the vintner behind this wine. A quick Google search brought up this article https://vinepair.com/articles/wine-labels-design-tarot/ with some images. None of them are Marseilles though. Here's what I saw: I didn't buy any cause I have way too much wine right now. But if it's still available in a few months, I'll definitely buy one to try it out.

I think it's so cool that two decks I love because of how cute and understated they are and who leave a lot to the imagination turned out to be based on one of the few decks I've seen where the only ambiguity is often the overwhelming amount of information given. Learning "dominion" is the card title of the two of wands from the Son and Moon and it's decan from the Thoth - where Aries indisputably enjoys hanging out in Mars - helps me understand the man from the Two of Wands in the Tarot Nova who's getting his head knocked off. I plan on taking this slowly, but I'm sure that soon I'll be able to answer the burning question every Tarot Nova user has ever asked…

Hi all, I was recently reading through the forum and was struck by an incredibly apt distinction user @katrinka brought up in another thread about Tarot being used more in modern times for psychological reading rather than predictive. I realized that I've been practicing much more in last while with psychological insight and introspective Tarot readings for myself, and I've gotten out of practice working with the cards in a predictive sense. I'd really love to work with predictive readings, but I think I've been a little unconsciously daunted by the idea of it for many months. I've taken some hits to my confidence this year that have resulted in me being frightened of exe…

Hi, I'm new to Tarot but am not having very good results at all. I really don't understand how the cards I pull have any significance to what I asked! Two examples, one silly, one serious. The silly one: "What kind of thing shall I have for dinner tomorrow?" I got The Lovers (love, relationships, union) - how does that answer my question? The serious one: "What should I look out for this coming winter, especially regarding the coronavirus?" I got King Of Swords - being intelligent and analytical. It just doesn't make sense to me. Do you ever get any cards that don't even begin to answer your query? And if you do, do you just draw again?…

Good evening everyone. Im new here and not sure I’m in the right section so if i am please someone move it to correct place thank you. As i just said I’m very new to Tarot and to be honest I have no idea about Tarot or never heard about it until I met my recent partner and from what she has told me I’m not sure I wanted too. Basically my partner gets readings from a Lithuanian lady on the phone and has used her for years but I have never heard the conversation or ever heard what she asks. But she has told me things this lady has said about me like I like my comfort, I like a gamble, when I get something I move on quickly which is all pr…

So, funny story.... I have tried reading Lenormand several times in the past- and it didn't clicked - I dropped it after a short period every time- not understanding the "rules" .. I picked it up again like 2 weeks ago- on a whim- and started following the rules a bit more loosely ( after watching again a few online videos) - so far the results ( especially in prediction ) were spot on- to a point where I told someone an hour before the event that something she planned would be canceled and the way it would be canceled.. which happened - in that precise way.. This rarely happened for me in Tarot - despite me reading it quite well for …

Hello guys, (this ended up being too long, so I just summed it up in the end for those who maybe want to help but don't want to read it all) I'm writing to ask for some help. So, as I said here before, I'm pretty new to tarot. I've been using mostly the vivid journey deck, and I'm still in the process of learning the cards, the readings, etc. But then the other day I went to a store, to buy something else entirely, and ended up leaving the store with a new deck, mostly because I really liked the imagery. It's called "Tarot of druids". When I got home and read the little booklet that comes with it I was actually really happy because, even though I …

Hi, I’m hoping somebody can help me. I’m very much a beginner to tarot and still learning so I’m still trying to understand all the meanings and interpretations. I asked the tarot a question of “is my partner being faithful to me” I was only going to do a one card reading as I’m a beginner but I drew justice and wasn’t sure so I drew another to clarify and I got 7 of swords, could someone help me with interpreting this please? thank you x

Because my daily draws had been getting rather monotonous and uninspired recently, I went looking for something to shake them up a bit; something from outside my bubble, a question to answer with the cards in a way that would make the process feel fresh again. I stumbled on the 'Daily Haloha' app, which is wonderful; each day there is a prompt, your reply gets sent out anonymously, and you get another response back (there is also a wall with daily replies to read). Not designed with tarot in mind, but I've found that drawing a card and running with that imagery to formulate a reply often works really well! And it's very light and low-pressure, perfec…
