I recently saw this video by Kelly-Ann: and it really spoke to me. I have already been combining lots of different decks both in my readings and in my magic/rituals. But I usually have some sort of spread or pre-determined layout for my cards (even if they're only laid out in a straight line). So her method gave me some new inspiration and I am definitely going to try incorporating some of her techniques in my practice! Here are some of the key factors in her method: - You use multiple decks (tarot and/or oracle decks), and preferably decks in different sizes and shapes to make it more visually appealing. - You lay out your cards face down in an intuitive pattern…

So this year 2020 is the card 4 The Emperor's ( 2 + 2 ) in tarot and last year we had 12 The Hanging Man's year ( 2 + 0 + 1 + 9 )! Is this something you have thought about before? What's your opinion about this kind of calculations?

Hi everyone! I decided to start a new thread on this particular subject because I started making some Tarot boxes. I often do custom DVD/Blu-ray covers for my movie collection, and I decided to do the same for some of my Tarot decks. I plan to do custom boxes for decks that comes in kits. The kits comes with a book and most of the time, the cards doesn't have a box to store the deck. For years I stored them in bags but it's hard (for me) to remember which deck is stored in which bag; i'm struggling when I want to pile them up; and I saw that some decks might bend with time. Mine are rather simple, and I don't add any UPC code or anything fancy, but it's perfect to be p…

When doing readings for yourself, which cards do your decks typically use to signify you. For example, if I pull The Star or the Queen of Swords, I know that my cards are speaking about me as opposed to someone else in my life who is influencing me. Do you also have cards that signify people in your life? For example, if I pull The Sun, I know the cards are talking to me about my girlfriend. My cards would also drop the Page of Coins whenever they were talking to me about my ex. I wonder if other people experience this and if so what cards signify you and the people in your life?

Its full name is actually the ATA Finest Reflections Readers' Choice Awards. Reflections is the official publication of the American Tarot Association. At the end of last year, they voted on the top three entries for four categories: Tarot-Related Books or Publications; Lenormand or Kipper Decks; Oracle Decks; and Tarot Decks. There are two sets of polls: one for 2017 and one for all-time. HERE are the winners for the cream of the crop of 2017. HERE are those for the best of All Time. So, what do you guys think? Some of the winners are quite shocking or downright meh for me.

Hey dear community. So I was wondering what are your thoughts about the whole purification process? Do you find it necessary? If so how often? And how do you do it? As for me. I do it mainly because that is how I was taught. I know about the idea of absorbing energy- but honestly- since I read in a cleansed area ( my home) and except for letting the querent pick the cards I handle the deck.. I don't really see a HUGE need to cleanse it often.. When I do.. I have two ways I either use a candle and pass the cards in a circular pattern over the candle- anti clock wise Or- I use Reiki - I put the power symbol into my hands and hold the deck betwe…

I used to like to get readings, back in the day. But now at closing in at 73, some chronic conditions, and pretty isolated (although I have some great friends locally, my best friend is a retired ER doc, which comes in handy), there's no reading I can see being great. What would I ask to be read on? So it's not that I think there are not great readers out there, I DO, it's that I KNOW there are and there isn't anything I want to know. Does anyone else not really want to be read for for any reason?

How did you get started in tarot? I’ve tried on numerous occasions since age 11 and it just hasn’t been a good fit. I started with RW, at one point had a teacher who insisted on Thoth—not a good energy fit for me, and now I’m back on a lark....I had a dream of the Star card out of the blue, after about 15 years since I’d put tarot on the back burner. Now I’m journaling with Labyrinthos and I’m finding it enjoyable, revealing and cathartic. Now I’m in the process of trying to pick out a deck (I only have 3 decks, RWS, RW Universal and the Lovers Tarot) and trying to learn as much as possible. I know I should dip my toe into trying one card readings, but I don’t feel I…

Hello everybody! :) I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for a book on the more spiritual meanings of the tarot cards? (preferably from a witchy/pagan standpoint). I have meanings for so many other facets of life but no so for more spiritual questions. It doesn't have to be a book either, it can be a blog or any other type of resource. Thanks everybody for the help! ^^

Gregory sent me some loose cards for my patchwork decks project (Thank Yu!) but a couple are not identified. Can anyone help with these (descriptions only for now, photos later if we're all really stuck) There's a single card from a deck which has an outstanding back design showing a little boy in a space suit floating above a planet, with xmas parcels floating about? The card is 18 - has a lot of xmas themed symbols, boy in space helmet making a snowman, I'm thinking this is some specific xmas themed deck but I don't know it. Anyone? There are 2 cards from a deck with a William Morris type fabric print as the back design. Very much fine art painting style to the f…

If you have ever done a reading for the year, whether for yourself or others, I'd like to hear your thoughts. I have pulled a card per month type of spread before and looking back, I'm not sure how useful it was. Even if I could make a connection between the card of the month and what happened, it was always in retrospect. I'm mulling over two ways to do it this year: 1. A reading that breaks it down by the seasons, most likely using the solstices and equinoxes as my dividing points. Each section would contain multiple cards to give a fuller reading than just one. 2. A reading that pulls for each new moon of the year and each section once again having multiple …

Anyone else have a deck with a sense of humour? I was having a particularly bad start to the day so asked my cards what I should I know about the day ahead. I drew one card. Knight of pentacles. Yeah, ok, steady steady, my day needs some patience and caution. Yeah yeah! Then, feeling a bit fed up, I ask the cards to show me something to cheer me up. I shuffle again and pull one card. The Knight of Pentacles. Thanks a lot. ;) ;D Very funny!!!

Do you use multiple decks in a single reading. How often do you do this, and for what types of readings? Do you have go-to spreads that you use for these combos? What deck combinations do you prefer? Novices are understandably reluctant to do this, but some pros like to include a few oracle cards in their Tarot readings. Some think that this gives some depth to their interpretations, while others think that it only distracts from the main message that your guides, deepest self, etc wish to tell you. They do look so good on a spread tho, especially if the aesthetics of the decks match.

Have you ever asked the cards to find something that you had lost? What was it that you couldn't find? Did you find it? And what do you remember about the reading?...

Hi everyone Yesterday's brief discussion (in "any suggestions for bright decks") of the World Spirit Tarot's "Baby Nixon" Sun card got me thinking: what are some cards that make you say "what were they thinking when they came up with that ? "

Today, I had a horrible experience with MPC (MakePlayingCards.Com). I had a bit of difficulties with the box template. They said they will help me out with it until they found out they couldn't help me out. But, said I should do it myself. I dislike this type of customer service. Because, I am a customer. And, I find it extremely rude for them saying that to me. I was never given any tutorials on how to work with the box template. It would be helpful if they provided such measures. I would never do business with this company again. I suggest everyone else avoid this company too. I've worked hard on designing every card that for my tarot deck. It was something to to be pro…

I’ve been laying out my cards and my other stuff (candle, crystals, smudging shell) on the silk scarf I keep my deck wrapped in, but for a variety of reasons this isn’t very practical (the silk is slidery and slickery; I have to assemble/disassemble everything every time). I’ve decided I need to outfit the Cosmic Command Post with an actual reading mat. Ideally I’d like something that has some warmth and a relatively organic feel. Oh, and my desk in the Cosmic Command Post is only 20” deep… it would either need to be something not-that-deep, or something that can drape over the edges. Any recommendations?

https://benebellwen.com/2017/09/14/5-beginner-tarot-courses-for-free/ Benebell Wen has gathered these and vetted them. Sounds good to me, I quite admire her Her first is Joan Bunnings which is the one I did. If I were a beginner with a fresh active mind I'd take any of her own courses in a new york minute

Hi all, I'm pretty new here so please bear with me if this is a silly question ::) Anyway, I'm kind of stuck on the associations with the suits... Swords = Air Wands = Fire Cups = Water Pentacles = Earth I can remember Cups = Water = Emotional depth, or Pentacles = Earth = Growing prosperity. But I can't see Swords as Air and Wands as Fire, in my mind it's the other way around. I guess I just think of Swords not only being by smoldering heat, but also representing destructive power, like fire. Where as Wands feels much more airy to me, as you direct a wand through the air with intention and focus, causing invisible change, like wind. So... I'm just w…

Hi Tarot friends... X/ This may have been asked previously. And, this isn't me asking the question, so I don't want to appear rude or narrow minded, it's some of my sceptical friends and family. And although my answer is always "They don't, but I understand my situations better because they ask me to use my instincts to guide me". However.... most are unsatisfied with my response and I wondered, is there a better way to explain that when I (or someone else) needs guidance on what energies surround me/them etc., etc., how is a random card selected. Who decided to select that particular card, me, my unknowing subconscious mind, my spirit guide, the universe or was it…

I'm just wondering how important it is, or is not to some readers of using an actual spread they may find on the web, or from a book either off the shelf or one that comes with a book in a tarot deck. If you feel that is the one to use, or if there is a magic pill so to speak by finding a spread somewhere to get it right for a particular reason. I'm also wondering from readers who may not use any preconceived spread and just use one they invented for themselves, or simply lay down a line, or a few rows of cards in a square lets say. So I am curious about both points of view. I myself have evolved into using, depending on the question/issue to using a simple t…

When I started receiving the completed bond with tarot, it came by form of a feather. I had been cross watching readings to verify my own understanding. Then I saw a reading being performed and her feather kept taking my attention (it seemed perfectly framed in her camera view). I was sitting on my porch during this particular reading. And as I thought to myself, why a feather and why THAT exact one. As the thought breeched, I looked at my flower bed and saw this perfectly upright feather that seemingly propped itself for my eyes to take in. It blended with it's surroundings yet stuck out like a sore thumb. The same occurrence happened after receiv…

I have had a similar experience with the Thoth (being able to read it intuitively when I started). Do you remember which video of Benebell's helped you understand this?
