As the title says, asking for a friend who is writing something of importance. Is Major Arcana primarily the only one used in common tarot discussion? Or is, "Minor Arcana" of equal reference and importance? I have always used it for the suites.

I've just started using a new technique with small layouts that I am finding VERY useful. By small, I mean layouts with only three, four, or five positions - past, present, future, helping a friend, solving a problem, etc. The big change is that instead of just one card for each position, I now draw two cards and interpret them together. And WOW! This really helps nail a meaning for me. Does anybody else do this? Example: Middle images ...situation at present for my friend Bottom images ...what I should NOT do Top images ...what is best for me to do The double images are so much easier to interpret than the single image would be, in my opini…

I know so little about tarot that I'm not even sure how to make 5 quality posts. A lot of the discussions are way over my head lol. There's also a lot of good information in this part of the forums alone, but there's an overwhelming amount for me. It seems I am well and truly The Fool. I suppose that I'd like to know how other people got started, and what they might recommend? For context, I do have a pip deck. It's an anime themed one. I understand that there is no rush and tarot seems to be something you continue practicing and learning and "mastering" for one's whole life. But I thought it might be helpful (and hopefully okay / not off-topi…

So ykno we all pull those “bad” cards or what we subjectively might think are bad/negative cards. Yea actually, negative might be a better word! Anywho, I did a reading once and for the position of “positive aspects of this union” got the eight of swords. And I was like huuuuh? And so I had to do some searching around to see it in a positive light. I found “feeling/being there for someone during emotionally traumatizing times” and in my cosmic tarot deck there are two people surround by swords and connected by the puddle of water they are both in so it actually made sense! So it got me curious. What are some positive meanings to cards that you usually would consider “nega…

Hello! I’m wondering which court cards do you think would have a sense of humor. In particular I’m asking about the King of Wands. Would his characteristic be a good sense of humor?

I asked what I needed to Avoid in order to work on my current problem, the problem was the temperance which resonated with me but when the problem it told me to avoid came up as Ace of Cups I was a little confused. What are some possible meanings on this? Perhaps avoiding a new love interest?

I am a newbie in this area and Tarot cards and Tarot reading intrigues me greatly. I have collected so many decks already. But I don't think I am very intuitive. Some pictures speak to me but some absolutely don't. Like the King card of all the four suits seem no different to me from each other. They seem to me like they have the same expression on their face. And what else am I looking into these cards to see what they are saying? I was looking at doing one of online tarot classes and I read someone commenting that "if your tarot reader tells you that they got into tarot reading after doing one of these classes, then you turn around and run" and that comment kind of hav…

both personally and professionally, I lean a on spread a lot. I'm big on them. If a scheduled client does not usually ask questions with tarot, they just want sign posts on how to move forward, how would you conduct that reading? usually in the past, at public events for example, I simply say, "let's see what turns up in the cards" and do my 2 or 3 card spread regardless. Or a simplified variant. But, in the case of an appointment, it has me wondering if I could be more effective with another approach. thoughts?

This past weekend I had a young woman email me to my personal email her story of being stalked & harassed. She requested a tarot reading on the matter and I did one for her. Has this reading situation of having a sitter that is being stalked or in danger ever happened to you? How did you frame the reading? What kind of advice did you give the querant? Have you ever turned down someone in trouble like this? What made you take on a sitter's request like this in the first place? As I was told by the moderators of this site, I can't give out more details to my reading because the reading I did wasn't on the TT&M website. Lo…

I wanted to talk a little bit about using tarot cards for inner work and as tools for personal development and transformation. I have been using my cards this way for many years and I am keen to hear from the rest of you if or how you use your cards for this kind of purpose. My favorite ways of doing this is to meditate, reflect and journal. But I also like to use more hands-on techniques, such as actively choosing which cards I want to see in a reading. Like, for instance, I would ask myself what card I would want to receive in a certain position. And then I go through my deck, pick out that card and lay it in that position. After reflecting how this felt, I then ask …

Is anyone else turned off by cards that have oversized, decorative borders? A few years ago, I bought the Mystic Faerie tarot, because I loved its beautiful artwork. When I went through the cards, however, I couldn't get past the large scrolling borders around each card. The cards all started to look alike, and they made me think of framed portraits instead of spiritual tools. Fortunately, the cards were slightly crumpled on the side, so I had an excuse to return them. All in all, I think I'd rather the space taken up by a border be used to portray a scene that represents the card's meaning. What do you all think?

I have a few decks that have very slippery/glossy finishes and it makes them quite annoying when shuffling and resting cards on top of each other. Anyone got a hack to make them less slippery? I read on one site to try essential oils, I did this with one deck but it didn't really work, just made my deck smell really good, which I'm not complaining about but I still have slippery cards! 😡

Curious what card COMBINATIONS you identify as indicators for the potential of a long term/long lasting romantic connection For me the big one I like to see is the Two of Cups with any of the following: Ace of Cups, Nine of Cups, Ten of Cups, Queen of Cups, Empress, Lovers, Sun What are your top combinations you like to see that indicate this, and why?

I'm a beginner. Sometimes I ask a question about a friend and the cards are very negative Hours later I ask the same question, I get a positive answer. Also when I ask "What's their karma for treating me poorly?" and the first card I get is "queen of pentacles". It's like they are going to get financial abundance after doing bad things to me. I've noticed that I usually get such jinxed up answers when I use tarot at night. Could someone please spread some light into what I might be doing wrong? Am I asking too many questions?

According to the hermetic sciences, everything has a vibrational signature that is in harmony or sympathetic with something else usually using a planet, a metal, a zodiac, a rune, Hebrew letter, etc. By taking the phonetic structures of the sounds we can find the correspondences from the Hebrew letter to the English letters. This allows us to easily apply the English language to the alchemic mix used in the past. Each letter having a basic tone means that the combinations of letters into words gives us a more complicated tone. A nice metaphor would be a single letter is much like a tuning fork whereas a word is like recreating that note on a violin with all of the t…

The Aged Look is definitely out there for all kinds of decks, especially tarot. What irritates me is that they are designed to look, well, old and yet some have backs that don't match the aged look and have TOO WHITE borders. I antique linen the edges of decks, some darker, some lighter, but those too white borders on front or the backs, just don't match the deck for me. I was surprised the Borderless Smith Waite, which I see as basically the Centennial just without borders and a different color back, had a back that was not only not borderless, but has those WHITE borders. Anyone else like the "aged" decks to match borders and backs? I am p…

I bought this beautiful Tarot cards from Matt Hughes - Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot deck last week, and I just noticed that it has 80 cards, instead of the conventional 78 cards. I am reluctant to use it... Anyone is using it? How do you find the extra cards in helping your reading?

Hi everyone I’m new here. I always have trouble reading for myself. I rarely get all major arcana in such a small spread but this time in a 4 card pull I received all major arcana which means there’s some big message in it…I think here’s my dilemma: Recently had a break up with a “male friend” We both established that there are definitely feelings but there’s just a small personality clash. I asked what the outcome of the split will be and pulled The chariot, the lovers, the hierophant, and Justice. I also asked why the split happened in the first place and pulled six of wands, hermit, queen of cups, and the star. The deck used was the modern witch tarot …

I was reading a book called Quabalistic Tarot by Wang, and in his section on Gematria (reading of letters as numbers), he gives an example by Westcott (of GD fame) and republished by Crowley, which appears on the surface to be wrong, or at least inconsistent with the system espoused by Wang and it is implied by Westcott (the standard mispar gadol). But does this invalidate the insight given? It got me wondering in general if conclusions arrived at through erroneous means are any worse than those arrived at by accurate ones. On the one hand we are told to trust our intuition, on the other what's the point of learning the tarot system if you are just going to make it up …

There'll be a new edition of Rachel Pollack's 78 degrees of wisdom, released tomorrow (1st March) actually - does anybody know if it will be much different to the old version? The title is slightly different, it is now: Seventy-Eight degrees of wisdom - A Tarot Journey to Self Awareness. I can't find if it has any different or additional content.

Would you change how you read it if it did? I'm asking because I did a reading a couple of days ago and the three of arrows (Greenwood) came up, so I did another reading on the choice I have to make and I knew the three would show up again, and it did. My preferred option doesn't look like it has a great outcome so I did a reading today to get some advice on that. Decided I needed to change decks for this, so got out The Hidden Realm. And I knew before I started that The Moon would show up, and I flipped over the cards and there it was. It's happened occasionally before, but that's twice in a few days I've known that a certain card would show…
