Hi. Haven't been in here in a while. Anyway, there's this beginner's book I had maybe around 25 years ago that was really cool. It had neat spreads (Celtic Cross, something with a tree, a category spread, a year spread and I think a month spread). It had 25 categories or so (things like: love, career, etc. ) and after you would lay out your cards, you could read the meaning of each card by the proper category. It also told you stuff like what astrological sign a card was associated with and what season. Soooo..... I was hoping someone in here knew the title. I haven't seen it since.

I am SO tempted to buy some decks from this site, it really looks so lovely. I am just wondering, do their decks ever smell of incense? I am really sensitive to incense, it sadly makes my nose stuffed and my eyes runny so I am a bit hesitant to take the risk. When you buy mass produced decks they are usually sealed in plastic so the smell would never penetrate the cards, but I'm not sure if indie decks are commonly sealed or not? If you have ever bought decks from this store, please tell me about your experiences. Would so like to be able to place an order without having to worry (I mean, those decks aren't cheap to begin with, but I totally think they could be worth ever…

Hey everyone Let me start by holding my hands up and saying that I am not a tarot card reader. Some of you may have seen my deck creation post here on the forum, but for those that haven't I'm creating my own art deck, following the RWS symbolism (loosely) ;D I'm now at the point where I want to start creating the LWB to go with the cards and wanted to get your thoughts. Do you think that keywords for the card, upright and reversed, is enough? Does each card really need a page of explanation to get the feel and meaning across? I can see people rolling their eyes ::) at these questions, but I'd really like to know what you think. Will keywords be enough to give …

What are some personal Tarot practices that are uniquely yours, or which other readers may find odd or strange? I discussed this with a few of my reader friends just the other day, and suffice it to say that we were thoroughly entertained by how creative and out of this world some of our peculiarities are. I even thought of incorporating some of their quirks in my practice. ;D

Stolen right from some videos I've seen on YouTube, lets talk about the most misunderstood cards in tarot! What cards do you feel are misunderstood? How do you explain them? For me, one of the big ones is Death, and it's a double-whammy. First there's the obvious, when people don't read tarot or are new to it and they worry that it's literal. Nope, it usually isn't a card that is foreboding your imminent Death! But... I think it's also misrepresentated when you turn a complete 180 and say that if it isn't literally about Death, then it has to be about Rebirth. I feel like sometimes it gets softened too far, and that can actually be damaging in a reading because in life…

I know we've talked many times about how to get cigarette smoke out of cards but I've got a Brady deck (rubber?plastic? cards) in a wooden box that also holds the book. There is WAY too much essential oil scent, I think evergreen. Any ideas how to get a lot of it out without covering it with something else? Scent free would be my goal, but a lot milder would do. seems like once someone used bbq charcoal, but you can't buy that here any more.

Well, I have started reading tarot cards a few months ago although I always an interest towards tarot since I was a kid. I know when doing tarot spread you have different techniques or spreads like the star or the Celtic cross, although I do not use these techniques. I usually shuffle and take cards take fly out when shuffling either 6 or 8 cards and the bottom of the deck, this way I feel like I can better my intuition or my skills per say. However, I have hard time doing readings for myself, anyone else?

Do you have a certain ritual that you use the cards for with sitters? For example, before the reading starts, I will get a vibe off my sitter and will pick out an "indicator card" or a personality card like on the court cards. Like my sitter today I chose the Queen of Cups for her as she (I felt) was very expressive in her emotions. After the shuffling and cutting process, I had her insert that card into the deck and then after that is done, I'll ask them if they want the "top or bottom card" on top or underneath the Indicator card, then after three cards are chosen in this manner, I'll do the reading. That's what I mean by "ritual". I didn't learn…

After a heavenly reading, have you ever eagerly awaited the arrival of the 2 of Cups into your life and your dream lover, only to look at yourself in the mirror one morning, and think: "Man, I feel like a woman!" or vise-versa if you happen to be a woman... as Jung's Anima & Animus pays you a visit. Or awaited the tranquility of the 10 of Cups only to find out it's reefer psychosis. Or perhaps it was The Tower you dreaded, only to put a coin into the slots at a casino and win the jackpot...The Tower would be The house falling about you in bankruptcy. This we have named The Spin, when the small amount of dark in the fluffy card pays you an unsuspected visit, or …

Is anyone familiar with a site WTarot, that sells decks? It seems...not quite legit to me? (I apologize in advance and will eat my words if it is.) It just seems odd that they say they have an OOP deck like Roots of Asia for $58, and then they have an IN print deck like Dreams of Gaia for...$68? Anyone have experience with this site?

Hello, I hope you're all well. I'm new here, rather new to reading myself, not too new for Tarot generally (I've had a reader I've been talking to for the past 7 years). Currently going through overly-emotional stuff and my mind tends to keep going to do the same place (relationships... I'm sure we've all been there?). My reader has been giving me some great future predictions about it (which is rare for me when it comes to heart matters), but the current / past is quite difficult and not getting much easier. I've opened a Celtic Cross on it myself (I use the RW deck) 2-3 weeks ago after seeing the guy because I felt a really strong instinct to, I go…

I'm confused about shuffling. It sounds silly, but I never know when to stop. A friend says "when you feel like it", but what if I don't know? Probably overthinking this, but it does bother me because I tend to focus on that instead of on the subject of the reading. And then do you cut the cards? Basically, how do you decide on a technique? When you have to pull a clarifier, do you just take a new card off the top, or do you shuffle first? I've been doing this for a while but I realise I still don't know how to handle the simple basics. 🙂 Thanks!

I am doing some renovations and had to clear my attic of all my sentimental items (not of any monetary value to anyone) that I have accumulated over years. I have to get rid of all items from attic as this space is now going to be used for something else. As I was going through all boxes to see what I still would like to keep I was going through a box and at the bottom I saw a picture. As I picked I found it to be a tarot card. With not much light it looked like devil and really freaked me out, but on closer look it was a Count from vampire tarot that is Equivalent to Emperor ). I am still shocked as I have no clue how it ended up there. All my decks are kept in a differ…

Before you begin, you will need to gather your tarot deck and a Tarot Journal. You may light a candle or incense, and perhaps some calming music to create a peaceful atmosphere. As you shuffle, think about your question you want to address. Start by laying out 5 cards in a horizontal line from left to right. The first card, on the far left, represents the past. The second card represents the present. The third card represents the future. The fourth card represents the obstacles or challenges you may face. The fifth card, on the far right, represents the outcome.

Hello everyone! I am new to the forums and a beginner in tarot reading. While there are a lot of resources on how to read specific tarot cards, what bugs me the most is: how can I work with my own intuition? I am not an intuitive person. So when i do readings either my mind (what I know makes sense) or my heart (what I would like it to be) get in the way. Is there any advice on how to identify the voice of your intuition and give it more space? Thanks everybody!

Does tarot have anything to do with anything that is "new age"? I was unsure of what the term "new age" actually meant, so I Googled it and this is what I came up with... New Age. noun. 1. : a way of thinking arising in late 20th century Western society and adapted from a variety of ancient and modern cultures that emphasizes beliefs (as reincarnation) outside the mainstream and that advances alternative approaches to spirituality, right living, and health. _______________________________________ What is your thinking just how the tarot fits into all things that are new age? What do you think the general public's percep…

Do you use your decks in predicting the outcomes of observable events like sports games, the stock market, reality TV shows, etc.? What can you say is your batting average? If it's rather high, do you hesitate to cash in on your skill, or do you think that it's somehow disrespectful of your gift? Care to share your favorite spreads, the ones that give you the most accurate results?

Hi, everyone. I have a question about the standard Astrological associations of The Chariot and Temperance. Most Tarot books I've read associate The Chariot with Cancer and Temperance with Sagittarius. However, a few books suggest the reverse. This makes more sense to me, since Sagittarius traits such as courage, confidence, and a love of travel seem to fit well with the traditional meanings of The Chariot, while the Cancer qualities of a need for balance, love of harmony, and the desire to be a guide or healer match up with the traditional meanings of Temperance. Is it okay to go with the associations that make the most sense to me, or is it better to just go with…

If you have ever done a reading for the year, whether for yourself or others, I'd like to hear your thoughts. I have pulled a card per month type of spread before and looking back, I'm not sure how useful it was. Even if I could make a connection between the card of the month and what happened, it was always in retrospect. I'm mulling over two ways to do it this year: 1. A reading that breaks it down by the seasons, most likely using the solstices and equinoxes as my dividing points. Each section would contain multiple cards to give a fuller reading than just one. 2. A reading that pulls for each new moon of the year and each section once again having multiple …

Hello! I've been studying my tarot deck as well as keeping a tarot journal, this is something that works really well for me and gives me my own place to reflect. But as I've been studying I've come up with a couple questions. First: My decks court arcana consists of Kings, Queens, Princes, and Princess's, and not the traditional Page and Knight. I am wondering if Page is equal to Princess and Knight is equal to Prince, but if not, what is the difference? Second: Say I am doing a reading for myself and after I have layed out the cards and seen them, realized I may not be in the mind set for it. Is it okay to simply put away the cards and forget about the spread,…

I have seen the expression "Waite type tarot deck", but I have never seen a definition. I would guess it's a 78-card non-pip deck, but is it stricter than that? Would the Mystical Cats Tarot or Transparent Tarot, for example, be Waite type? Does it need to have wands/swords/cups/pentacles and/or page/knight/queen/king? Do definitions need to match Waite's "Pictorial Key"? What general categories do you use to describe your Tarot decks?

I am not sure what is happening or why, maybe I am just having confidence issues, but I feel really disconnected with readings for others for the last couple of days. I have read for myself for years and several months ago started studying the cards to a greater depth than just the one deck and one book I had. I read pretty much intuitively from only that deck and book for years. When I first started reading for other people, my ideas were still fresh, and I went into it not knowing if it would be helpful to anyone or not, but the feedback was amazing. Some people wrote back pages about how the readings resonated with them, told me I had a gift and so on...I took that …

...of the Darkness of Light tarot, either 2nd or 3rd edition. Puh-leeze?! I thought I'd exorcised it out of my life. I really did. I bought the Mary-El and the Children of Litha, thinking those would assuage my hankering for a decent shadow work deck. But then I realized I didn't want the Darkness of Light for shadow work. I just wanted it. Period. I can't stop thinking about it, and I am baffled by my obsession, but there you have it. I tried emailing the artist, trawling eBay U.S. and international, posting on tarot Facebook pages - all to no avail. I am hoping the universe does right by me and sent me here with the hopes…
