I am aware that Aleister Crowley created his own deck Thoth, but just how was it inspired by the RWS deck? I know that this is sort of a broad question, but are there similarities between the Thoth & the RWS deck? Whatever you want to share I am all ears.

Hi, So recently I did a reading for myself and asked if I will get into a relationship with a person I was dating. The outcome was ace of swords which left me quite confused. I know all the aces signalize a new begging and if any other ace came out, I’d say it would mean getting into a relationship, but the ace of swords... I just don’t know. This card sometimes confuses me, and now that’s the case. I usually read it as communication, getting new ideas, learning, realizing something, truth coming to light, but what about this ? How to read it regarding this question ? I don’t see it as a relationship card as it’s connected to mental realms and seems cold/neutr…

Since people have been so kind and helpful with my first ever forum inquiry, I am gonna push my luck and post another, if I may? The Spirit Seeker's Tarot is OOP and going for a small fortune in the resale market. The creator says she won't be reprinting any year soon. An Etsy seller is collabing with Benebell to make tarot tiles. Is a set worth $350 USD? Anyone who has the SK deck wanna chime in and talk about how it reads? Anyone who owns tarot tiles wanna speak to how readings work with tiles over cards? Do you just put them all in a bag and draw like runes?

I find myself asking my deck a yes/no question only to be baffled by the card I draw. How do you treat the cards for yes/no questions? What if the card drawn is reversed? Do you draw the next card for clarification?

Pretty much everyone seems to agree that a Tarot reading isn't going to give you the next winning lottery numbers, or the name of the horse that will win today's race, or the closing price for XYZ stock on Wednesday next week. If that's true, then what, exactly, does the Tarot tell you about the future? I think it works this way: Events seem to flow as a sort of continuum, with the past seen as effecting the present, and the present thought to have some influence on the future. So, by examining the present, and coming to see it from different perspectives, expectations for the future may be focused, and the scope of those expectations may be narrowed. Based on such…

How many here have the Celtic Cross as their GENERAL go to in readings for themselves and/or others? I know it can depend on the type of reading, what a client may want, what they wish to know, but how many tend to use the Celtic Cross more than other spreads? And, if not, is there a spread you use more than others?

What's the word for that feeling -- like the intimatation of a panic attack coming on -- you get when you're thumbing through your deck, looking for a card, and keep not finding it, and are starting to freak out: "Did I lose it? Is my deck incomplete? Where is it?!" We need a word for that. (Surely this isn’t just me. Go ahead and call me Shirly if it helps.)

it happens to everyone ,, you are in a middle of a great reading,, then all the sudden KAPOW blank mind , it seems like everything you ever known about the tarot has left your brain, ! there is the old (new to some who never heard of this i guess) techique of using numerology to correspond cards with other cards,, mary k greer eve wrote a book on called tarot contellations . you take your double digits numbers and add them. 15 becomes 6 ! so the devil becomes the lovers , and everything moves by the hermit card in the tarot consellations. i was thinking of that further and discerned if you can add the numbers then you must be able to subtract the numbers..…

Would you change how you read it if it did? I'm asking because I did a reading a couple of days ago and the three of arrows (Greenwood) came up, so I did another reading on the choice I have to make and I knew the three would show up again, and it did. My preferred option doesn't look like it has a great outcome so I did a reading today to get some advice on that. Decided I needed to change decks for this, so got out The Hidden Realm. And I knew before I started that The Moon would show up, and I flipped over the cards and there it was. It's happened occasionally before, but that's twice in a few days I've known that a certain card would show…

Every journey starts somewhere, and we did not all wake up one day immersed in these forums. I am at the beginning of my journey, and my steps have been very basic... a class, a general Tarot book, daily meditation on cards and doing a one card 'day to day' draw for some co-workers. These baby steps are good for now, and I know I'll need - and want! - to take bigger steps as I familiarize myself with tools of Tarot and refine the focus of my energies to best utilize those tools. So what were your first steps? Or were they leaps? Was there any single event that made you think 'Now, I can do this"?

I feel like I understand most tarot cards. I guess the confusing ones that I stop by is always cards like the world & judgment, although I've been working with judgment A LOT. so I would say i'm pretty GOOD at understanding card meanings and what it could mean by just the representation and imagery. I currently even use the tarot deck Wild Unknown, which was my first deck, purchased about 9 months ago. I also bought the OG deck later on but I just didn't want to play around with it tbh. I just love my first deck! but I've also seen the OG one and will think of that one if I ever need more detail :3 But yeah... the connection, it's hard. I can't understand…

Does anyone have any examples of unconventional suit meanings/associations that are still useful and illuminating? I'm thinking through a new method of reading with non-Marseille pip decks and would like some food for thought about how to understand the suits beyond the received wisdom (i.e. Wands = energy/spirit/ambitions, Cups = love/relationships/feelings, Swords = thoughts/communication, and Pentacles = job/health/money). Here are some examples of what I mean: - In my recent discussion about a new approach to the RWS based on reading the actual images, I noted my distaste for assigning the suit of Swords the typical meanings of "thoughts & communicatio…

I did some readings for friends yesterday in a public place and sadly returned home without the ace of pentacles! What do I do? Does anyone have a good recommendation for buying single replacement cards? Or should I buy a new deck and just replace the one card (and what do I then do with the other deck?). It's a standard rider-waite deck (the one with the tudor rose design on the back), so not expensive to buy another. I want to keep using my one though as I feel very connected to it now. Any thoughts?

I did a reading today, a love reading. And I got queen of cups, page of cups, king of cups, the devil in the same reading. I also got temperence and seven pentacles as the result. I don't know why, but I got a really strong feeling that the sitter is an alcholic, or addicted to something (dating? men?). I find this a bit troubling, actually. What do I say? Do I ask? Is it something one mentions? Anyone else ever got this feeling? What do you say?

Do you use your decks in predicting the outcomes of observable events like sports games, the stock market, reality TV shows, etc.? What can you say is your batting average? If it's rather high, do you hesitate to cash in on your skill, or do you think that it's somehow disrespectful of your gift? Care to share your favorite spreads, the ones that give you the most accurate results?

Hey everyone. I've been watching several different people do readings and I'm working on starting at the basics with a three card spread with my RWS deck. (I decided to save the Thoth for later). It seems to me that the major arcana can be tricky to read because it's tempting to put too much emphasis on them in the intrepration. After all they have big, more archetypial meanings and more flashy artwork. Here's an example. A person asked for a reading and asked about information about finding thier spirit guide. The past/present/future three card spread I got was Devil-ace of cups-five of swords. It was real tempting to see the devil and freak out. This wa…
