I have some decks that work well with spreads (gilded, mystical moments, light seer's) and some where I struggle getting a picture from the spread, and I end up developing a reading based on cards drawn (angel wisdom). Also, when using spreads I pull from the top of the deck. When I put a reading together without a spread, I continously shuffle until all the cards pop or fall out. I am starting to prefer the later method more and more, even for spreads. I also pick 1 to 3 from the bottom of the deck or use Oracle Cards as clarifiers. Does anyone else experience this? Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't figure out the best one for this question... I'm going to Kensington, London for a few days soon and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for little quirky shops, the sort that will sell tarot cards and crystals, etc please but not at ridiculous London prices?

Those that read for others, do you keep a record of the readings that you do? This only applies to where that's possible to do of course, e.g. readings done by email or video call. I have recently started to do readings for friends and family and real life events have started to reflect what came up in those readings. I'm fascinated to see this happening (obviously!) and have also noticed nuances and facets appear for certain card meanings. I'd love to keep a note of these observations as part of my learning journey but I'm second guessing myself as to whether keeping a record of readings done for others is overstepping a boundary. What's the word for that feeling -- like the intimatation of a panic attack coming on -- you get when you're thumbing through your deck, looking for a card, and keep not finding it, and are starting to freak out: "Did I lose it? Is my deck incomplete? Where is it?!" We need a word for that. (Surely this isn’t just me. Go ahead and call me Shirly if it helps.)

How do your pets react to your decks/books/ritual items/etc? Do they try to invade your workspace, pawing your cards or distracting you while you work on your spreads? Do they always park their fluffy little selves on top of your decks? Or do they seem apprehensive of your private stuff? Bonus points if you can post pics. :))

Hi everyone! I decided to start a new thread on this particular subject because I started making some Tarot boxes. I often do custom DVD/Blu-ray covers for my movie collection, and I decided to do the same for some of my Tarot decks. I plan to do custom boxes for decks that comes in kits. The kits comes with a book and most of the time, the cards doesn't have a box to store the deck. My favourite deck has gone on vacation. I did a 3 card yes/no spread with it the other day (centre card give the yes or no with an upright or reversed card, side cards give information on why). I forget what the question was but the answer was "no" followed by two cards that said something along the lines of "I'm going to sit back, relax, and put my feet up for a while"! Gah! I haven't even been using it that much! Anyone else had something like this happen to them?

I mean readings where you ask things like : what can I do to catch that person attention, so they like me? Or What should I do to recover my ex back? That sort of thing that seems "forced" Do you do that kind of readings? I have learned in my tarot journey and in my life that not everything will be as one wants, but then... I rather like asking things like "What are their feelings about me?" Would they want to back with me again (have a relationship ? And then if the answer is yes maybe ask for further advice. Advice readings to improve ourselves.. I support those.

Hello all, while I've had my tarot deck for a while, it's only now that I'm just starting to use them. One of the ways I decided to practice doing readings was to try to get to know my deck using an interview spread I found on Pinterest, as well as asking it what sort of crystals it would like me to use to recharge it. So I'm curious, how do others in this forum get to know their new decks? Who else likes to interview their decks and what sort of questions do they ask? Or what other ways are there, other than simply using the deck over a period of time?

I was going to answer this question in the thread it was asked in, but it doesn't really apply to that subject so I've cut and pasted it in this new thread. I hope it's in the right section, but if not, I know our faithful and diligent mods will move it. 🙂 I don't use actual reversed cards myself unless they just happen unintentionally. I determine the meanings according to "all things considered" type reading method. Meaning that card combinations, the clients' questions, the imagery and looking at the spread as a whole to look for patterns of color and such things are how I interpret the reversed meanings if they apply. What are your thoughts on the Death & Rebirth card in the Light Seer's deck? I see this as someone returning who has gone through a huge transition, possibly a scorpio or other water sign. For Yes or No questions, this might lean on No but could also be a No (until transition is complete) I see it mostly as a positive card How do you interpret it?

So I've started the on-line course suggested, and feel very comfortable, I love learning something new. My cards come tomorrow, and I fancy the idea of a daily challenge, and reading. Did anyone else do a daily reading (one card) at the start, and take the full time suggested to learn the cards they picked? I am a newbie in tarot reading. I am not sure how to select the card from the Tarot deck for personal reading. Should I keep shuffling the tarot cards until one card drops from the deck and use it for the reading? Or after shuffling the cards, should I keep them stacked up uniformly and select the first card (and 2nd etc. depending on the spread) from the tarot deck? (How do I determine when to stop shuffling for this method?) Is there a recommended way to select cards for Tarot reading? Thank you.

Hello, it's been weighing on me for years that I lost friends over a tarot reading and it makes me nervous to read for friends even now. Before I do readings for anyone I always make a point of telling them that I am simply a conduit for information that I deliver and that I may say anything without a filter. I have a great interest in the RWS infamous "stage cards". For those of you who haven't noticed (i only noticed 2-3 months ago, and i've studying them for 10 months) in certain minor cards Pamela Coleman-smith has drawn two thin lines at the bottom of the card, which makes it look like a stage at a theater and the background a backdrop...perhaps the 2 of cups and the page of cups are the best examples. Apparently Coleman-smith worked as an artist at the theater at the time, and Waite was secretive and a bit of a pompous-ass about the meanings. I have counted 15 although a couple are debatable. Hello - I am taking my first course in reading the tarot cards - what I am finding very confusing and frustrating is when I am asked to determine what a tarot card means (ex six of pentacles) without previously learning the meaning of the card... in other words using my intuition. This seems like a backward way of trying to learn tarot as I believe you need to learn the meanings of the cards first and then add the intuition in after that. I have tried to lay out all the major arcana and see a flow between cards but I don't see anything as I do not know what the cards represent. Am I right to want to learn the meanings first? My wife gets after me for spending too much time writing up my observations for online clients and not charging enough for it, and she's probably right but I wouldn't feel honest doing any less. If I'm doing a Celtic Cross, I usually have around a page of standard introductory text that I cut-and-paste with minor tweaks from reading-to-reading, a "big-picture" summary of the most compelling features of the spread, a one-paragraph-per-card narrative, and a closing summary of anything I find particularly noteworthy in the way of advice for the sitter. Hi! I just wanted to share a picture of my new folder and journal for tarot study. I'll primarily be working with Benebell Wen's Holistic Tarot. I'm excited to get started on Monday when the book arrives, but for now I'm getting organised. I'm going to use the folder for my readings and general notes, and the journal for card interpretation (I'm considering setting it up for each card in advance with stick on images of the cards but it would be a LOT of work. (not pictured: new fountain pen and sapphire ink on its way) I would love to see how others organise their study!

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Angel Wisdom Deck or has had the experience of struggling connecting with a deck. I have worked with this deck for about a month (2 to 3 times a day) and just in the last week I feel I am starting to build a connection with these cards, but only when I don't use a spread. I also feel my readings are off when I pull from the top of the deck and instead use the fallout shuffle method. I have tried cleansing them, blessing them, and doing spread to "get to know" the deck. Does anyone have any techniques they use to build a better relationship with your deck?

Tonight something bizarre happened while reading for a new client, reading a Universal Deck that was a gift. Long story short, her brother died 6 months ago after a long battle of illness. An answer to part of our reading with reverse King of Swords. I read in context he said it was his time, he put down the fight. We went through more cards about other things, at end of reading she asked if something went wrong at hospital. I drew another reverse KOS! I didn't know there were 2 in deck. The only doubled card & nothing else was missing.
