I don't know how many of you have already heard about the concept of 'Depth Year'. It has become a really popular theme in the tarot community at YouTube lately and many people plan on making this next year their personal version of a Depth Year. (Just do a search for "Depth Year" at YouTube and you'll see ;) ) I want to start out with a short definition of what the Depth Year is, then I will provide some quotes and links at the bottom of this post. My hope is that we could all have a chat about our feelings around this. I also want to mention that for some people this is not the right way to go. Maybe you feel perfectly fine in the stage where you are at - or perhaps…

Is there a way to learn how to not solely rely on tarot for the sense of the situation, and use tarot to confirm one's own intuition. How does one go about developing this more

I say all the time what a crazy journey this has been for me. I don't need to go into why but just... getting into this world of Tarot has been a trip. And I have been wrestling with the question of why I want to do this. At first I had these ideas of how I was gonna read Tarot so differently and from my own vantage point of mystical christian values. Then I get on this forum and it becomes apparent that my values don't necessarily make sense in the world of Tarot, and something different is going on. I kept doing readings but I felt weird, I wasn't sure of what I was doing anymore. I started to wonder if this was even good, and yet the fascination was there, I ador…

I just had me a curmudgeonly rant about some of the dearly-held myths of tarot. I'm sure I missed some (or many). Anyone care to weigh in on the subject? I'm not looking for defense, just identification. https://parsifalswheeldivination.com/2020/06/14/the-myths-of-tarot-sacred-cows-and-tin-gods/

I've got a deck I like, but can't use—the White & Saunders Tarot—because the cards cling together when I try to shuffle them. The plastic coating acts too much like cling film. Is there anything I could 'dust' them with that might release them for shuffling? Anybody else experience this issue?

Does anyone have any books of tarot spreads that they love and would recommend? If so what do you like about it? Thanks for any thoughts :)

Hello Everyone, I was doing a reading to see if my boyfriend missed me and four cards fell out. They were the ace of pentacles, 5 of swords reversed, judgement reversed and the two of cups. Can anyone tell me what these mean? Does he miss me? Thanks!

Just curious, does anyone here have and rituals they do with their cards during the full or new moons? I am starting something new tonight where I plan on putting my cards in order during the new moon of each month to reset the energies. If anyone else has traditions like this I'd love to hear about it!

Is the tarot a predetermined oracle or does one believe they have a free will? I've heard both points of view and I am not sure what to believe. Do you tell your sitter that the future is set in stone? What are your thoughts on this? Simple question. Just curious?

Do you have any favorite podcasts or youtubers? I've only really watched Kelly-Ann Maddox, and love her channel dearly, but would love some suggestions. Anything really educational/thought provoking with some meaty content. :D

I'm going through something I like to call "tarot depression." Let me explain. As of late, I feel my intuition/psychic energy go into a slump and I don't feel motivated to read tarot. I know that I need the practice, but not only am I not motivated, I know that my reading will not be clear to me. Again, the clarity is in a slump. It's a vicious cycle. I also question if I'm doing my best work when I'm doing my readings. Is it normal to be in a slump? Is it normal that your intuition isn't clear in the beginning? Do you ever need a break from tarot?

I came across this website, How Tarot Works and Why and thought it might be good for some of us who have people in our lives who don't really understand our love of Tarots and Oracles. What do you think? Is it convincing enough? Solid?

Hi all! A question: Does anyone else have the “Infamous Dollar Tree Tarot” deck? I was lucky enough to get one years ago from someone on another forum but I’ve always wondered...there are Aces but no pips 2-7. Only 8-10, then Royals and Majors. Is this a defective set, or is the deck just so weird and cheesy that all of them were made that way? I actually really like the illustrations on it and have considered making my own missing pips, since the artwork would lend itself pretty well to that.

Botanica shop, Kerman California (rural central valley): I entered the small room, and sunlight washed over the dusty shelves through the open door. A man and woman were in chairs near the single narrow isle, speaking Spanish. "Good morning." I said. The wares were disheveled, with apparently little attention to organization. I cut to the chase: "Do you have Tarot cards, in Espanol?," I inquired. He looked at her, and she shook her head, "no" to me., The weathered older gentleman asked in broken English if I too read, with an inquisitive stare. I confirmed I did, and the woman rose and pulled out 3 packs from behind the cluttered counter. She laid them carefully in a…

Well, guys, this friend of mine is involved with a married man. When asking about his legitimate relationship, I always get some of the pentacles card and that he sees his wife as the devil or the four of pentacles reversed, as if he chose her more because of her good financial state. When I ask about how he feels about my friend, I usually get 6 of cups or the page of cups or 3 of cups or other "sentimental" cards and that he sees her as the lovers or the sun. What do you think?

My reading have been inconsistent. I am getting different results for the same questions. I will get the same results for several hours and than it will change. Does this mean someone changing the outcomes through black magic?

Tarot Theory journaling I was wondering how do you journal the theory side of your Tarot study? I am always busy with the card meanings. If I see, read or hear something which reminds me of a card, I write it down in my paper notebook. And from time to time I will write it down in a computer file. My digital Tarot journal is big, it has already the size of a book. How do you journal? What do you journal? In what form do you journal? Thanks.

I just had the most hilarious realization and it confirmed what I was fairly sure the card represented in this reading. Queen of Cups (Wife?) clarified by 5 of Wands (Struggle/conflict) Cockney rhyming slang: “Trouble and Strife” = “Wife”. And there we have it, haha! I also had 5 of Pents once to represent a dysfunctional time clock.

What do you look for in a deck? What attracts you to this deck but not that one? Have you noticed a difference between the decks that don't work for you after all when you've gotten them home and in your hands, and the ones that sync up with you pretty much instantly? Is it an art style? Symbolism? Something harder to define? And just in general - what makes you buy a deck? What's your taste in tarot? Traditional? Or the complete opposite? Rich oil-painting colours, or pastels? Do you like photographic decks, like the Starchild or David Bowie tarots, or ones where every card's art was originally painted by hand? And why do you like what you like? I just find it fas…

i recently decided to get back into tarot, i was studying them for a little while in the past i bought a notebook and wrote down my interpretations on each card based on a personal point of view but then i stopped, now i want to get back to it and start studying again my question is: What are some other ways to use Tarot Cards? besides readings? because i want to study them and i am trying to find different ways to use them (in the purpose of learning/studying the cards) because i have been told that you shouldn't do a reading (on yourself, or another person) too often, but rather have time between. for most effectiveness…

Hello guys, (this ended up being too long, so I just summed it up in the end for those who maybe want to help but don't want to read it all) I'm writing to ask for some help. So, as I said here before, I'm pretty new to tarot. I've been using mostly the vivid journey deck, and I'm still in the process of learning the cards, the readings, etc. But then the other day I went to a store, to buy something else entirely, and ended up leaving the store with a new deck, mostly because I really liked the imagery. It's called "Tarot of druids". When I got home and read the little booklet that comes with it I was actually really happy because, even though I …
