I was curious to know what the Tarot had to say about voice quality, tone, little quirks about it, etc. I asked it about my voice, singing and speaking, at its most positive + beautiful, and I got the Page of Cups. So out of curiosity, what do you think the court cards sound like? High-pitched, soft-spoken, melodious, baritone?

Hello everyone I've been wondering; do you need to study all of the "Big Three" decks - the RWS, the Thoth, and the TdM - in order to learn all there is to know about Tarot? I have the RWS, but to be honest, I've never really been attracted to the Thoth or the TdM. Lately though, I've been thinking that I should have them, just because they've been so prominent and influential in the history and development of Tarot. What do you think - is it enough to just study and work with decks you like and connect with, or is it essential to study the historical decks as well?

I've been into tarot for a year or so now. Would like ideas methods for bonding to decks. I usually smudge, shuffle and put crystals with decks. I meditate on the cards. Would like further ideas, spreads etc to bond further. Currently working with Wildwood and Hidden Rhealm decks. Thanks

Hey there! I have been thinking about this for some time now and as I'm new to the forums I'm wondering what you think about it. Do you prefer your tarot decks to be full of symbolism, or do you prefer them to have more of a simple or abstract style? And how does this preference affect your reading style? If you prefer more symbols in your cards, do you utilize them all in a reading? Does it help or hinder your intuition? And if you are more for the simple images, do you find that your readings can still be profound? I have yet to settle down on this. Hey all, I'm very much interested in Tarot cards at the moment. Now I'm wondering about this question and can't seem to find any answers on it. In readings is the Major Arcana more relevant than the Minor Arcana cards? Or should all of them be considered important? Here are some examples for a career reading: Lets say someone gets The Tower, The 10 of Pentacles and The 4 of Wands, how would that be interpreted? Hello everyone I just thought I'd share some insights I had about the 8 of Swords. I was doing a reading for myself, using my Dealing With Difficult Relatives at Thanksgiving spread. For the last position, "a way to decompress and de-stress when it's all over", I got the 8 of Swords. That card didn't make a whole lot of sense in a position about de-stressing, so I had to really think about it a bit. I'm so interested to see people's thoughts on this subject - well, 2 subjects that are linked enough that I think it warrants sharing a poll and thread. I've been struggling some lately with these two cards. I know the five is traditionally read as "defeat" - but it's interesting because the art in most cards really foregrounds the victory. (In my go-to deck, the victor looks sad about winning, rather than smug, but he's still clearly foregrounded). A few years ago I asked my tarot deck if I would have children, and the results really upset me. I did the reading several times hoping for a new result but it was always the same outcome. Unfortunately I can’t remember the exact cards, but I do remember the chariot and the ace of wands. The final card always pointed to sadness or sorrow and loss, I just can’t remember now what the card was. This has always filled me with anxiety and dread for the future. If I ever do get pregnant, I will spend the pregnancy terrified of losing the child and that really upsets me. Every reading I’ve ever done has been pretty accurate and spot on. Hello, everyone Of all the Majors, the one I have the hardest time understanding and interpreting is Temperance. I can't quite wrap my mind around the traditional meanings I've read in books, like mixing things together, or combining opposites. They seem so vague, especially for, say, a daily one card reading. Does anyone have any insights on how to interpret this card, or on how to apply it to everyday situations?

I have found myself pondering this question for a long time now. Is it the tarot that sees the answer, or is it the gift of the person reading the cards? While I do believe that everyone can read the tarot at least to a degree, there are arguably some that are just better at it. There are some people who with little practice can just interpret with great levels of accuracy and detail. I personally feel as though the tarot is more of a conduit for an already gifted person. A means for them to draw out their gifts if that makes sense. What does everyone else think about this?

Hello everyone I was looking at the Pictorial Key to the Tarot thread, and it got me wondering. Are the Tarot meanings we use today extremely watered down from those of the past, or is it more that the modern meanings have been updated and expanded for our times, making the older meanings obsolete? Many of the PKT meanings are extremely negative, (for example, both the Death card and the 9 of Swords can both represent actual death), and are rarely used in readings today. So this is the box where I keep my tarot. It's an old cutlery canteen on legs that I ripped the insides out of and relined with new velvet. Unfortunately the new velvet isn't that pleasant violet colour but a more standard royal blue that didn't photograph well (budget and all that) but it still looks smick regardless. The shape's a little odd but there's enough room for my notebooks and all my decks. I'm pretty happy with it. It stands at the bottom of my bed.

Hi all, About reading tarot and using other divination methods and 'where to draw the line' with what to accept as 'the right answer.' Recently I've been experimenting with coin tossing and online Yes/No button to predict. Unlike Tarot cards, these give strictly binary yes/no answers. However, I've noticed that often the answer doesn't fit, because the situation is ambiguous, for example: Will it rain during my walk? NO. There ended up being a slight drizzle but nothing so heavy I would have required an umbrella. So is this rain or not?
