Tarot Talk & Technique

I am frequently struck by a song which makes me think of a particular Tarot card. Meaning that what the song is about, it's lyrics and ideas, fit in strongly with the meanings or symbolism of a given card. I thought it might be fun and even a good learning opportunity to discuss some of these songs and how and why they fit with a card or cards. Here's one that recently struck me in that way; Joan Jett; "You Don't Own Me" (lyrics are there with the song). I felt that two people are in this song; the person singing it as well as the person it is directed at. First, I felt the Page of Wands could be the person singing. Very independent, young, not wanting to be "ti…

This topic has been moved to Tarot Decks, since it is a deck-specific topic. https://www.thetarotforum.com/tarot-decks/star-tarot/

If you care about calculating your birth and/or year card, do you place any specific significance on it if it shows up in a reading? This year (I go birthday to birthday with the year cards) is all about the Hanged Man for me and he showed up yesterday when I was having a not very good day. I'm thinking it could mean that I gotta look to my year card and the greater lessons that I'm learning and trust that it will work itself out if I hang in there (letting go and things sorting out without me being obsessive about it is something I struggle with but the Hanged Man is helping me see it's a good thing), but I'm really curious to what other people think. Hoping I'm…

I'd like to take part in a monthly tarot exchange again, so I was thinking of starting a general one in Reading Circles for August, open to TdM, RWS, Thoth, Continental, other... as long as it's tarot. Would that be of interest? Glass Owl kindly said we could post her spreads. I was thinking mainly 3 cards spreads, at least for now, with people at so many sites. (I haven't hosted one before. I'm happy to do it. Or if someone else would like to jump in to host or to co-host, that's good too. Just wanted to see a circle here. :) ) Thanks

if...hypothetically, you understand...a certain Thothie who has been out of the loop for years but who was intrigued by M.M.Meleen's decks ever had the funds to buy one of them, which would you recommend? Please discuss pros, cons, fronts, backs, size, stock, companion material etc. Fool's Dog apps are out, I'm afraid. I have one and it leaves me so cold and unfulfilled when I try to use it.

I guess I get to have the privilege of breaking the ice in the Using Tarot forum! (It actually makes me nervous, in spite of how much I would "talk" before. ;)) My daily reading on my eating urges (yes, I still have to deal with that ... especially with the recent loss of our AT home), I had the Queen of Swords for my "Issue" card. I'm using the Karma Tarot and am attaching a photo so you can see her. Here's my thoughts on the card (transcribed from my notes); Controlling my "energy". Not just "control", but directing it in a positive manner. The card has a lion and the word "LEO" which is, of course, my sign. The woman is contemplating her image in the mirror - shi…
