I'm not as experienced with Tarot but very interested to learn. I've tried to do a reading with three cards asking of someone will contact me in one week. The cards I got were Judgment, Knight of Wands, and Chariot. I asked the cards what action is he going to take with Chariot and got Ace of Wands. Will he contact me in one week? I personally would read this as a yes but not too sure. The contact would be by phone or text message. Any help and explanation would be appreciated. Answer

There is much symbolism in the Rider Waite Deck. Which is your favorite symbol? Or which symbol means the most to you?

For the last year or so I've been studying Tarot de Marseille and building my particular system for reading the deck. In the process, I realized that I wanted to apply a similar kind of systematizing to my approach to the Rider Waite. I've been working with the Rider Waite almost exclusively since around 2004-2005, and in the ensuing time I've evolved a workable set of meanings and associations for each card. At the same time, in the last few years I've found my readings with the deck to be a bit...immaterial? Broad? In other words, my readings tend toward lots of vague discussions of change, internal qualities of character and such, but not always very useful information…

I saw the Radiant Wise on Amazon, the one published by Llewellyn. But one of the reviews there said to get the Lo Scarabeo published one rather than the Llewellyn and gave an ISBN number. I found it on Amazon, not easily, and it said it was 18 and change, quite a bit less than the Llewellyn published one. An hour later, I looked at it in my orders and the price had gone up to over $40! In an hour. So glad I picked it up the Lo Scarabeo for so much less, timing is everything on Amazon, Anyway, I was wondering for those who have both decks, do you prefer one printing over the other? I'm really interested in the symbolism in tarot and my readings come from the symbols in the cards. For my reference library, I wanted some great books about the symbolism in RWS, to refer to if I ever need to research symbols. Something more meaty and for reference than books about reading the tarot. So, do you have a fave or best RWS book like this? From looking on google, I know there is..... What do you think about the swords stuck on the deck of the boat? Ive understood it as a positive card, about leaving troubles and moving on to better things, but somehow I'm worried that the swords would pierce through the wood creating holes on the boat, and it might sink. What do you think? Maybe its just my personal view... I've always been somehow afraid of deep water, so being on boats scares me. I cannot look at this card without fearing that it'll sink. But wouldn't the swords create holes on it? Hi everyone, I almost never buy decks - in 40 or so years of reading tarot, I've managed to accumulate six decks in total. For years I read just the Sacred Rose, had a brief foray into the Thoth, but returned to the Rose; and then, three years ago, I bought and fell in love with the Radiant Wise Spirit, which I've been reading ever since. I hope this is the right sub forum for this question. It's something I've actually wondered about for quite some time. For those people who use the RWS tarot deck (or similar) and if you're not into occult practices, or wicca stuff or things like that, do you take into account what pentacles/pentagrams mean and imply, or do you just consider them to be round objects that have a relation to the earth element ? I'm also curious to know how many people who use the RWS deck have studied Golden Dawn stuff so as to deeper their understanding of what Waite was trying to communicate through his deck.

Maybe someone has mentioned it before but recently while doing some research on a German deck I came across an amazing German language deck database with complete scans for 170 different decks. there's a page for each card showing that card for all 170 decks on the same page, and if you click any individual image it takes you to a page with only that image where you can click right or left to see the next or previous card in the same deck, including decent resolution scans for all 78 cards in every deck. this seems incredibly useful for researching various decks or comparing corresponding artwork across many decks. very cool! http://www.albideuter.de/html/narr…

For me, one of the more intriguing Smith-Waite Tarot cards is the High Priestess. Mainly because the card’s iconography is rather a hot mess of Egyptian, Graeco-Roman, and Jewish influences. The depicted female seated figure is popularly thought to be based on the Egyptian goddess Isis. I came across an explanation of the connection between the man, the woman and the angel as a link between conscious - subconscious and divine. Man (consciousness) looks at woman (subconsciousness) who looks at the angel (the divine). Maybe this is common knowledge and I'm rediscovering fire here, but I thought it was really interesting.
