Anyways, iIt is really fantastic to see such a great respect and appreciation for the Lenormand - that is for sure.

After all these years - it is still number one to me and obviously for a good reason.

I am still crossing fingers that Mary Greer publishes the Lenormand book she had in mind - that is something I would like to know more about.

Mary Greer has done a pretty extensive lenormand webinar/video course with written material to go with it. Its on Global spiritual studies. But maybe you already knew about that 🙂

Well yes, it was a war zone in 2012-2013. Before that hardly anyone was into it. Then all of a sudden there was this big bandwagon, everybody piling on and wanting to "innovate" - without comprehending the system. Lenormand isn't a deck, really, it's a system. A genius system, and it's folkloric and complex and refined to perfection, and people were just fighting tooth and nail to pollute that because it was trending and they all wanted to make a quick buck and/or make a name for themselves. It got ugly, again and again.

Exactly this.

Everybody uses intuition, in the sense of catching on to things without having to consciously work them out. Your brain just does that if you're very familiar with something - like driving, you don't think "Now I am going to step on the clutch and move my right foot off the gas pedal and put it on the brake..." - if you need to brake, you just brake. It's a reflex.

But reading off the pictures the way some people do with Tarot isn't Lenormand. You don't say "The Dog is chained, I feel that he's sad and neglected." The Dog is your friend and a helper who enables you to put food on the table. He's highly valued - his owner would be insane to neglect him. It's a card of real friendship and loyalty, not sadness and neglect.

This too - and I don' even know my Lenormand.

It would appear not.

@Raggydoll

Thanks!

Have seen aspects of it when she was on AT and read a few of her articles on the Lenormand via the website. I liked her AT contributions actually.

Been a few years though.

From memory the book was more along the lines of a historical perspective, but she needed more material. Im sure she wanted to write something that was possibly "Academic" - maybe.

You're getting there by osmosis. 😁

I was in a pub with Mary once when she did a FABULOUS Grand Tableau. Hugely impressive - and all kind of "factual."

Yes I will admit that I actually bought her course some years ago and I have watched it but didn't take the time to properly study it. I really like her approach and it think it was the comprehensive nature of it all that made me decide to put it to the side. I believe Mary has a very traditional and robust approach. I think that I would personally need something more interactive to get me started and then later dig into those videos again. But like I said, I won't be tempted to do this at the moment. I definitely don't have time for it now.

I will say this after working with Lenormand for just a few weeks:

It is eerily accurate.

Tarot has been for me immensely over the years, but ... in a differnet flavor. I've always avoided prognostication with querents.  We take an explorative, inner dialogue approach.

A practical view, with a smidge of "keep an eye out for this."

Lenormand blows that into a thousand pieces.  It will be a long while before I ever take on the responsibility of this system with a paying client.

And, with that said, I will ensure I truly want to know the answer to a question before asking.

Happily stunned,

~  WK

There's an event? Do tell. 🤣
If anyone needs Lenormand help, I'm pretty ever-present here. But I'm not aware of an event.

I’m thinking that if I had more time then I’d try to set up private Lenormand training with Katrinka. You’d be invited 😊 Oh well, need to finish my deck first. But maybe in 2022? 😁

It was a wishful thinking event @katrinka 😆

Well, I could do some kind of for-pay webinar thing with merch and $tuff. A deck and a t shirt and a hoodie and keychain and a lanyard and a hat and yadda yadda.
But I'd rather just hang out. 😁

I just did my first-ever Lenormand reading yesterday.  I have been watching Georgina Toland's videos on the Lenormand on YouTube, and her matter-of-fact approach makes so much sense.  I have a couple of books, have learned the general meanings of the cards (which are far easier to remember than tarot, which I've been doing for years) and dove right in.  I used Georgina's version of Portrait (9-card layout, in which the centre card is the overall 'topic' and all the other cards relate to it) to ask a question about a current situation, in which I'm involved. And the 'answer' I got was startlingly accurate. To the extent that I tried it again, thinking it might have been a fluke, using my 'other' Lenormand deck, taking a slightly different perspective, and got THE SAME CARDS, bar two, which were different!  I was gobsmacked.  And instantly hooked on Lenormand.

I've got a good book I'm reading now, by Patrick Dunn, entitled Cartomancy With The Lenormand And The Tarot.  On page 134, he provides a way to use each card.  He says to ask yourself, "What would this card mean if it was about a relationship?  About a business?  About an artistic project? About a job? And so on..."  He cites an example: The Mouse card.  In love, the Mouse might represent nagging worry or jealousy.  In a business, minor losses from theft or an unforseen overhead.  In an artistic project? Lack of focus and busywork.  For a job?  Busyness, but with no ultimate benefit.   If you can break the cards down to small topics like this, and apply what the card represents, the meaning for your particular reading jumps right out.  Startling, but really pleasing.
