I agree with @DanielJUK.  There is a lot of warning in this card, mainly about complacency.  The Seeker may have just fulfilled a long-held wish or goal, and now has the desire for enjoyment, hospitality, and sharing the abundance with others—and they should. By all means, enjoy the good times.  Life is treating the Seeker well, just now, BUT beware of taking the situation for granted or assuming the conditions are permanent. Above all, beware of vanity, or of condescending to those whose fortunes haven't quite reached the heights yours have.  You may have quit at the top of your game, and have taken the winnings home, but remember: pride goes before a fall.

The upside down meaning of Nine of Cups (in the Etteilla tradition) is honesty. The upward meaning is triumph, but intended to be modified by surrounding cards. Surrounded by bad cards, the Nine of Cups tells that the questionnant(e) will not triumph.
