Madame Squee Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Thank you for the thread, VG! 🐣 I'm switching this week after all to the Lua Tarot.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Dinosaures de Marseille/Minchiate for me! I forgot until I was checking for complete that we got the added virtues and planets! thank you VG
Mi-Shell Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 This week I will use the "Songs for the Journey Home" deck. I do have the larger round deck for reading at home and the smaller version that resides in our motor home ready for travelling. http://www.learntarot.com/jsdesc.htm
Amberjune Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 I will be working with the Tarot of Transformation and the Ocean Oracle. @Madame Squee ooh the Lua! This one came to my collection earlier this year and is resonating quite a bit, seems to read really well for me. Would love to hear your impressions.
VGimlet Posted March 27, 2021 Author Posted March 27, 2021 (edited) In a sort of backward step from the Oak Ash and Thorn Tarot I decided to use the black and white Animalis Os Fortuna tarot this week. It caught my eye. I need to go take a look at the Lua.... Edited March 27, 2021 by VGimlet
Madame Squee Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Hi @Amberjune! Yes, the Lua Tarot reads really well for me, too! I received it in February, but I also received several new decks at Christmas, so I haven't spent as much time with it as I intend to. I'm drawn to black and white tarot decks, and the Lua has to be the nicest one I've seen. I feel like Maree Bento has created a gorgeous, thoughtful, insightful masterpiece. I can spend an hour studying the cards and then notice something new the next time I lay them out. Last night, I realized the man in the Seven of Wands is wearing two different shoes -- a delicious reference to RWS Tarot. Even so, many of Lua cards are something completely different than RWS or anything else I can remember seeing. This morning, I picked out the Two of Wands for study. Being the oldest of six sisters, I can totally relate to the planning and machinations it represents. The steaming pot over a fire brings the phrase "stirring the pot" to mind. We did plenty of that! Lua is just everything I love!
Madame Squee Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 @VGimlet Oh, do go look! The card stock is substantial with silky matte finish, and the box is really, really nice. The LWB is packed full and well-written. Every card enthralls me.
Bodhiseed Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 I'm in with the PetraK Tarot paired with Astrodice.
Madame Squee Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 It's 9:30pm. I'm drinking coffee and turning over Lua Tarot cards. I see that everything is scattered to the winds in Death. And it's time to face the music in Judgement. The Eight of Cups seems the ideal card for the central position, especially considering its theme of pilgrimage. But I soon realize that Death and Judgement provide perfect bookends for many other cards, too. The Two of Coins appears to have weathered the storm and is dancing to the music. The Six of Swords is escaping towards sweet music. I think I might spend more time this week looking for great bookends in a line of three.
Bodhiseed Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 @Madame Squee, what an interesting look at Death and Judgement! I really like what I see of the Lua Tarot. 🙂 This week I'll be using the PetraK Tarot, created by Petra Reiter-Köck and published by Piatnik. The oracle I'll be using this week is the AstroDice, created by Wessex Astrologer Ltd. It consists of three dice: one for Planets, one for Signs and one for Houses. Today's card and roll are the High Priestess and Mercury-Libra-5th House: What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall reap in the harvest of action. ~Meister Eckhart The High Priestess seems to show that a balance needs to be struck between the practice of inner stillness and reflection with the outer activities of strategic planning and action. Yet there is an in-between step that is often missed - contemplation. What is learned through study and meditation does not automatically leap into my thoughts and actions. I must consider how my experience would change if this teaching was incorporated into my life. It can be helpful to imagine a relevant situation and how I could employ this wisdom to create change. The clear communication of Mercury with the diplomacy of Libra in the 5th House (joyful activities) suggest that part of my contemplation be centered on how I communicate and whether I am open-minded. To have a happy partnership with others will depend on the changes I'm willing to make, not my expectations of others. We forget that the accumulation of knowledge and the holding of convictions must finally result in the application of that knowledge and those convictions to life itself. ~Jane Addams
Page of Ghosts Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 I'm joining in with the Tarot of Vampyres and the Shadowscapes Tarot. Apps are convenient but I miss actually touching a deck of cards, so tossing in a physical deck I haven't really worked with should be nice.
vulprix Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 I hope to use the Pagan Otherworlds deck this week! (I am still holding fast to a couple of favorites but trying to pay attention to all decks in my collection. It’s a tough balance 🙂 )
Amberjune Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 @Madame Squee I often don't connect as much with black and white decks as I want to, usually feel more drawn to color. However the Lua (and I've only used it for one reading so far) has given me very insightful input. Really looking forward to working with it more an happy to see that you are getting so much out of your time with it!
