I'm back with the Tarot de El Dios de Los Tres since I didn't touch it this week thanks to having one of the BAD reactions to the 2nd  Covid vaccine.      I'm happy it's done though, and now I'm finally feeling back to normal.

I am so glad you are past the nasty COVID vaccine side effects, @VGimlet! I am happy you had access to the vax and are feeling better! It’s a great fortune! 🙂

This week, I’ll be using the Ellis DecK and also the Druid Animal Oracle. Not a particularly fitting pair visually but they each have qualities that balance that of the other, I think!

I'm in with the Cosma Visions and the Shamanic Healing Oracle Cards.

Wishing you all a happy week!

As mentioned in the old thread:

The Herbal Tarot for me please ♥

The first thing I did, was, to check all the cards to find out, if and how many none-white people are depicted in the Deck.

I just found a precious few....

Tarot de El Dios de Los Tres deck seems like just the color you need VG!

I received the Tyldwick this week so that will be my adventure. Mostly because I finally got my new glasses after cataract surgery so I can resume life 😉

Yay to new glasses and eyes that can see.   🙂

This week I'll be using the Granny Jones Australian Tarot, created by Granny Jones (Rebecca Jones) and published by Kangaroo Press. Along with it, I'll be drawing from the Button Oracle, a set I made myself from a collection of buttons. Today's draws are the Chariot and German Shepherd:

All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward.
~Ellen Glasgow

Granny, accompanied by her feline companions, energetically pedals her bike. Perhaps she is going to visit a friend in need who lives in the vardo down the road. Hopefully she centered herself before her journey or her frantic anticipation may have caused her to forget something important. I once got a call that my mother (who lives in another town) was being taken to the emergency room. In my anxious and hurried state to get to her, I packed a suitcase full of socks and no underwear. The German Shepherd, long used in search and rescue as well as narcotics and explosive detection, has been assigned the keyword 'investigation.' Being able to work regardless of distractions, this dog encourages me to sharpen my focus in order to discern the moment's needs. I recently came across a grounding exercise (called 5,4,3,2,1) that is quick but useful for such times of anxiety:

  • Name five things you see around you.
  • Name four things you feel.
  • Name three things you can hear.
  • Name two things you can smell.
  • Name one thing you can taste (taste currently inside your mouth).
  • For any 'blanks' you draw, substitute something you are grateful for.

I like that grounding exercise Bodhiseed;  nice.     Granny Jones took me awhile to warm up to, and then when I finally decided I wanted it it was long out of print (of course) but I like the hominess of it.

I would love a reprint so others could enjoy it - there's not a lot of homey decks to be had anymore.

Hi @VGimlet. I'm so glad you're feeling well and back to your regular self! 🌻

I'm in with Conjure Cards this week.

Although I never was a fan of the general artwork of the Herbal Tarot, I always find it interesting to note the different herbs that come up in my daily 3 card draws.

Many of the herbs are from Chinese Medicine or do not grow here, where I live and I am not familiar with them, so it always is a bit of a review of what is "out there"

The Granny Jones deck looks so far out! I am glad you have such a treasure, @Bodhiseed. It’s legendary!

I did a reading with the Ellis DecK today to seek advice on how to prepare for an important conversation that I need to have. (The Moon is me there in the middle—grasping at straws in the gap between dual sides, and in the dark about my own subconscious makeup and actual needs.)

Sometimes I am very moved by insights with this deck; other times I feel that the imagery and message are kind of generic and straightforward. This time is one of the latter. Maybe I’ll lay out the spread again for further contemplation later.

Does anyone else have thoughts/experiences about the Ellis tarot deck? Experiences with other decks that don’t seem to click all the time? I’d love to hear about that!

I experience this with all my decks at one time or another; I think this is why I use oracles with tarot decks - to see from a different and hopefully wider perspective. 🙂

disillusion is setting in on something joint you've been invested in. As you say, you alternate in needs and feelings but in the end you'll go your own way alone, but with your nature, still beset by coulda shoulda woulda. Let it go.

Once  my decks quit speaking to me I let them go, have never rebought one yet. I have a clear out each January. This years are going to the subscribers contest here, last years I shipped to a friend in Canada.

Thank you, @Bodhiseed!  I am using the Druid Animal Oracle this week as well, buuuut it didn't accompany me to my reading space yesterday 😅  Maybe it would have helped out here.

The Ellis Tarot has actually been lingering in my to-be-given-away pile, @AJ-ish/Sharyn.  But I can't find it in me to let it go just yet 🙂 The fantasy artwork echoes things that I love in popular culture and the bold colors are too beautiful.  There are also some eye-rhymes to be seen that make the deck an easy read...

...but yeah it can feel a bit wooden 🙂 I like hearing about your resilience in giving away decks that don't particularly speak to you!  Thank you.

Edit: I just did a very fruitful reading with the Ellis decK and it gave a kind and positive message that sparked a lot of contemplation!! The spark is here 🙂 this is really a great thing about DOTW.

The tarot de el dios de los tres was just what I needed this week, very bright and chaotic and cheerful, with a little edge to it.   🙂
