Interp. Help: Card 11: A rod or a writer for my back?

I was wondering if anyone would take pity on a total Lenormand newbie and help me out with a draw that, to my untrained eye, anyway, contains a degree of irritating ambiguity?  I'm also out of practice with all things cartomancy, so please bear with me.

Here we go: I've recently received an offer of part time work. It's what you might call a side-hustle. The money's not amazing, but it would be useful. Fine. Problem is, while I do have previous relevant experience, I haven't worked in this particular field for well over a decade. Thusly, I'm concerned whether or not I'll even be up to the task.

So, I asked the cards, would this job work out for me if I took it?

Answer: Clover/Mountain/Rod [Brepols]

Okay, well, I'm not feeling particularly reassured. It seems the cards are telling me that taking the job would lead to a mountain of obstacles and stress, and certainly not be worth the relatively small remuneration.

However! The job in question essentially involves working as a hired writer. Now, the rod is a card for writers, right? So possibly this could slightly lessen the negativity of the draw, leading to an interpretation something like: You could make a little extra money but it would involve a steep learning curve.

I suppose neither interpretation is a ringing endorsement.

Alternatively, I could clutch at further straws by wondering if the mountain isn't signifying that, as would be the case, I'd be working remotely for someone in another country?

🤔

Any guidance would be muchly appreciated!

Yes, you’re right for Rod, it’s what I learnt too.

But here the combo Mountain + Rod looks like an obstacle that leads to a controversy (and likely to a separation).

I’m wondering if this refers to the timing here, that is, an opportunity for a short time (Clover), with nevertheless some indications that this job won’t last long.

Just my 2 cents!

Hello @devin

You’re correct that the Birch Rod is the card of both writing and editing.  It is the latter I would be inclined to note, here. It looks like you might not have much time to write or polish the work.  That could result in some disappointment or disagreement.

The Cloverleaf and the Mountain often refer to short-term blocks or no window of opportunity.  The Birch Rod can double this up. You will have a lot on your plate and that could come back on you.  The Mountain and the Birch Rod infer a blocked conversation so don’t expect sympathy/flexibility.

As a newbie myself, I think that the gig would be worth taking for the little money and maybe the “small luck/happiness” of dipping your toe back into the field! But the latter two cards seem to say to me that the situation would be unsustainable and (potentially) more trouble than it is worth. It looks like the cards have offered you solid advice for your own consideration 🙂  Good luck on this, @devin!

@Decan @timtoldrum @vulprix

Thank you all for taking the time to write such enlightening posts. I have found each contribution to be of great help.

Of course you're all wrong: The mountain signifies that I shall climb to great heights and see far into my successful future!

My problem, I think, was in getting fixated on the clover as representing the extra income, ignoring the timing aspect of the card. This then led to my missing the general thrust of the draw with its focus on time constraints of various kinds and the troubles such constraints may cause. And this does make a lot of sense. First, there's not enough time in the day as it is (is it just me, or is time speeding up?) and writing has never come easily or speedily to me. Also, I wouldn't be working with an editor, which would probably only compound the pressure.

Hmmmm.

You've all given me a lot to think about!

On a more positive note, learning Lenormand is a lot of fun. I think it's also helping to dig me out of the divination burn-out hole I've been in for most of this year.

@vulprix Thanks for the good wishes!

Mountain isn't necessarily an insurmountable obstacle; actually we could interpret Mountain + Whip/Rod here as difficulties to write since you mentioned this in your last post.

Mountain + Whip make me think to frustration and anger, so nothing "easy", but I guess you can accept this challenge for some times if you need the money, be pragmatical of course, whatever the cards!

Regarding your initial question: would this job work out for me if I took it? Well, the answer looks like a no if you meant to be comfortable with this job, but jobs aren't comfortable for many people most of the time, so...

Or learn how to read a Grand Tableau like the devil and charge clients like Rana George! 😁

As an aside Toni Puhle said that she has many businessmen (working in finance) among her clients but I don't believe her.

Thanks Decan!

Yeah, my main worry is whether or not I'll be able to deliver. No one wants to take a job and fail. (So, in retrospect, perhaps I should've been more specific with my question.) Really, the whole dilemma makes me reminisce about the wonderful self-confidence of youth. I remember talking my way into jobs that I had zero experience in, learning as I went, and succeeding. The idea of trying that now is absolutely terrifying.

As for Toni Puhle, yes, you hear those stories of hedge-fund gurus getting their cards read and astrological charts drawn up. Who knows if they're true? But I do know that a lot of Silicon Valley types are very into psychedelics and shamanism these days..... so maybe it's possible. If so, I hope the lucky readers charge a bundle for their services.

Thanks again for the extra feedback.

Okay, so your question is will I be able to deliver?

Here if I read the sequence Clover + Mountain + Whip I would say rather simply that for short term (a few days, traditionally Clover is 4 days) you’ll face much difficulties to write.
So if you have to deliver quickly, be a little careful I think.

My 2 cents!

Do not forget, the Mountain is not insurmountable. It can be climbed or one can choose another route.  But it requires effort or delay.

So although the opportunity (Cloverleaf) is frustrated right now (Mountain + Birch Rod) it need not be forever. You might might find in a month or two it’s easier to accommodate.

Sorry for the delay in reply. It's the mountain's fault. (Not the card. The one I live on. It plays bloody havoc with the Wi-Fi. 🙂 )

Thank you both for the further insights. Upon reflection, I don't think the timing is right to take on extra paid work. As I said, the money would be useful, but isn't absolutely essential. I had a similar extra-income gig for much of last year. Fitting the work in was pretty trying: starting at 5, sometimes 4, in the morning, working for a few hours before the day's commitments kicked in, then carrying on after supper. This year, I don't think I'd have the energy. Also, I've been wanting to start blogging for ages now. Any further commitments would make this an impossibility. I asked the cards what they thought about the blog. They answered with book/house/fish. So, although this is not a commercial venture, I assume the cards believe I shall find the endeavour enriching in some way.

Thanks again!

Okay, the main thing is that the cards helped you to make your choice.

With Book + House + Fish your blog looks already comfortable and prosperous 😁

Like Decan says, the cards indicate your blog will offer you a good platform to build your presence.
