Not a newbie, but new here!

Hi everyone!

My name is Marina, I'm not exactly a newbie in cartomancy, but I'm a bit rusty. I used to be a member of AT years ago, but then I strayed away for a few (ok, many) years...

Recently I decided to resume my divination studies & practice, and so I am looking for like-minded people to talk to.

Thank you for having me. Nice to meet you all 🙂

I remember you from AT although I was just beginning to be active at around the time you took your break I think.

Good to see you here!

Yes, I was rather sad when I found out that AT had died but I had no idea there was a new forum until now. Glad to have found it!

Also, glad to be back into things... goodness knows my divination uscles need some exercise!

Yay Gregory, I made it! Took me long enough to find out where ATers were hanging out, after all!

I remember the Vernier deck. I'm always happy to help people to get some weird Brazilian decks, lol!

I am SO glad too, Daniel! I really prefer the forum format over social media and I was really sad thinking we no longer had a place to discuss Tarot & Divination. Thankfully I was wrong!

I can so relate to this 🙂

Sadly when AT was closed, the community scattered all over the internet. There were many forums and new communities and you sometimes find members in them. A lot of people are in touch with them and there is a link to many, even if they have not joined this site. We did try to all keep contact. Some people disappeared though and no one has ever seen them again which is very sad and some of those people had amazing knowledge in their areas of interest. We still have people joining here regularly as ex ATers (like you yay!) and so I am glad more and more people reconnect.

When AT closed I joined this forum but felt burnt out by forums and didn't want to use them anymore and so I used Facebook tarot groups. Lots of ex AT members started big popular groups on there. They are a nightmare! It had my personal account with my name and I didn't want people knowing my real details in postings. Also the groups are dynamic, so new and updated posts move to the the top all the time and the comments do as well. I remember doing a reading exchange on one and the readings keep moving around the threads. The format is not well suited to this area! I noticed also that you would have 4 or 5 people running the groups and there was always a power dynamic battle which led to smaller groups leading off and people falling out. One group banned Oracles as illegal and half the group left! They were very unstable and I think most of them have been closed down now, they are not long term places to rely on! After 6 months I came to here

The nice thing here now is that there are ex AT members and also lots of new wonderful people joining here! It's a warm and friendly community and has it's own identity. I am sure you will get a lot out of here 🙂

Nothing that social media has come up with beats a forum format. Topics are organized into sections here, everything isn't thrown together. It's pretty easy to find things, even if you remember something brilliant somebody said 3 years ago - the search function works quite well. At places like facebook everything sinks into oblivion like Daniel said. I also agree that it's good not to be expected to use your real name. People need privacy, especially people who post readings about their personal lives.
And then there are the rules. Here, the rules are LF's, and they're sane. At a facebook group, it's not just the admin's rules, it's Zuck's rules - and those are enforced by bots. 100 people might post an image of The World and nothing happens, but when you post the same image you might get 30 days in facebook jail for "violating Community Standards" with "pornography" (that's what facebook calls boobs. Ack.)
Facebook only exists for checking in with family and friends who live far away, sharing memes and news links, and arguing politics. It's no good for studying cards.

Welcome. 🙂

Yes, I'm happy to see some known names here, but also pleased to see different and new people joining! I'm already getting a lot out of here and enjoying it a lot 🤩

Agreed, agreed and agreed. I like the forum format, I like how we can focus on a shared interest and how there are actual conversations and exchanges.

FB and Instagram kinda overshare... my oracle reading studies and habits are no secret, but it doesn't mean I want my third cousin's wife's great uncle or my boss to know all about it. 🙄

So yeah, happy to be in a forum again! Thank you for the welcome!
