VGimlet Posted October 1, 2021 Author Posted October 1, 2021 Sticking with the Stolen Child and Fluid Color playing cards.
vulprix Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Awesome that you’re sticking with the Stolen Child Tarot, VGimlet 🙂 It’s a cool-looking deck, never got it but it always stuck out to me and seemed underrated too. I will be using the Pagan Otherworlds this week, which I must credit @Decan for (over in the de-enabling thread). I quite love the Pagan Otherworlds 🙂
Bodhiseed Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 I'm in with the Hezicos Tarot paired with the Way of the Horse Oracle. Happy October to all! 🍃🎃
Bodhiseed Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 This week I'll be using the Hezicos Tarot, created and self-published by Mary Griffin. Along with it I'll be using the Way of the Horse, an oracle deck and book set created by Linda Kohanov with Kim McElroy and published by New World Library. The two cards drawn for today are the Seven of Cups and Believe: When I drew this card this morning, a quote from the book of Joshua came to mind: "Choose whom you will serve." Though it sounded a little strange at first, it dawned on me that in many ways the cup we focus on to fulfill us is indeed where we'll spend a great deal of time and energy. Will it be a worthy sacrifice? The Believe card suggests we put a hold on the ego's litany of what it thinks we need and listen to something within us that is less superficial: the ground of our being or luminous mind. In quietness and stillness we can find this part of us that looks at things without preference or prejudice, the part of us that is spacious, wise, compassionate and discerning. It might not point us toward what is always pleasurable, but it will guide us toward what is fulfilling and meaningful.
Amberjune Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 My decks for the week are the World Spirit Tarot and the Moonology Oracle Cards. @vulprix, the Pagan Otherworlds is a beloved favorite of mine, such a good and steady reader. I'm wishing you much joy with it! @Bodhiseed I love the Way of the Horse, had some powerful readings with that one. The Hezicos is one that got away... Wishing everyone a wonderful week.
Bodhiseed Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 @Amberjune, the Way of the Horse is underrated, I think. It has great art and a great companion book (especially if your an animal lover). I didn't realize the Hezicos was OOP until I went to put up a link to her website. World Spirit Tarot is a firm favorite of mine!
vulprix Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I did a reading for myself with the Pagan Otherworlds regarding romance in fiction and romance in my real life… and it was quite soothing to read 🙂 The top row was particularly insightful as to the kinds of partnerships I like to read about and why! A question for you all: do you travel with your expensive decks and read with them on-the-go? I would love to use my Pagan Otherworlds deck more, I love how it reads, but it’s first edition and I would kick myself if it was maimed too badly!
Bodhiseed Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Such lovely cards, @vulprix! Personally, I wouldn't travel with anything I couldn't easily replace. The cards I've traveled with (even in a pocketbook) often get jumbled and bumped a bit, so I usually don't take any hard to replace (expense or otherwise) with me. Perhaps you could take pictures of the major arcana and each of the suits, then compare them with another deck you have on hand when traveling?
Amberjune Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 @vulprixI tend to use Tarot Apps when I am away. It's been a while since I've traveled though and I do remember taking physical decks with me on past trips, but I would not take any of my rare or oop ones with me. A positive development that I am noticing is that I am learning to love my black and white decks more. I tend to not feel drawn to them but had a really beautiful time with the Book of Kaos deck some weeks ago and now with the Lua Tarot. (I switch out my decks in alignment with the moon phases and thus the weeks don't line up with our posts.)
vulprix Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Thank you, @Bodhiseed and @Amberjune 🙂 Yeah I will probably have to not travel with the Otherworlds, though I used to…! Was braver then, I think. Traveling with decks is precarious but I do use them the most when I travel!
VGimlet Posted October 5, 2021 Author Posted October 5, 2021 While I do use all my decks, I tend to not take decks with me that I can't replace easily, just because I'm a bit clumsy, and Things Happen.
