VGimlet Posted February 18, 2022 Author Posted February 18, 2022 I'm in with the Waterfall tarot again. Sorry to Mi-Shell and sweeneyish, who I didn't get added to last weeks thread until today. BAD Barb, LOL. Hopefully I see calmer horizons ahead, although that's not what the Waterfall tarot is saying...
Bodhiseed Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Hadar Marseille paired with Greek Runes. Thanks VG!❤️
Amberjune Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 I'm in with the Pacific Northwest Tarot and the Celtic Tree Oracle. Happy week to all!
Wyrdkiss Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Howdy. Monstarot for me. Cheers everyone, happy weekend.
vulprix Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Hello all! @AJ-ish/Sharyn, you are very kind. I hope that others might take you up on your offer. I am pretty busy with the decks that I have so I will leave your offerings to others 🙂 I’m in with the Trionfi della Luna (Paradoxical Blue Edition)!
Rachelcat Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Yes, a kind offer, Sharyn! Same here, I've got so many to work with . . . An interesting group of decks this week! Celtic Tree Oracle, and oldie but goodie! And Greek runes sounds very interesting indeed! My deck this week is the Diversions of the Court of Vienna, an historical repro from https://thecartomancer.bigcartel.com/product/diversions-coffee-cards-c-1796. Publication date is on the cover card, February 20, 1796. They are coffee cards, 32 poker-sized cards similar to Lenormand, based on reading coffee grounds (similar to reading tea leaves). I’m not sure what they have to do with Vienna because the wording on the cards is in English and doesn't appear to be translation? Each card has a longish, moralish sentence along with Lenormandish pictures. The deck includes the original instructions printed on cards. The instructions recommend laying out all the cards in 4 rows of 8 in a grand tableau and reading cards in the row of the gentleman or lady card and cards above and below as predictions. I’m a total Lenormand/sibilla newbie. (Well, let’s just say I’ve tried in the past with little success.) So this week is going to be a total experiment! Today, let’s try a five card line to answer: Will I be able to improve my sibilla reading skills this week? Snake, Lilies?, Clover, Mouse, Clouds (I think it’s lilies because there is another flower card in the deck that looks like a rose which might be similar to Bouquet.) I’m not going to type out all the text. I hope you can see it in the photo. From reading the text more than the images: I have had some troubles (snake) with this in the past, but that’s because I wasn’t really putting enough effort into it (lilies). This time I might be lucky (clover), but maybe not (mouse). The problems are with me and in my own head (clouds). So I think the advice is that of the lilies: I’ll get out of it what I put into it. “My wish may be granted if I requite the same for the same.” Interesting text on these cards: If it’s a secret enemy, how can I know who to make my friend? Wishing for a wife: So this fortunetelling method is focused on men? Well, women can wish for a wife these days, but probably not at the time of original publication! Luck depends on doing ones duty. A negligent master will make an honest servant into a thief. I never thought of that. Or maybe just pay him a living wage so he doesn’t have to steal when you’re not looking! Clouds are anger. It’s up to me to let go of it. Basically, you’re responsible for your own emotions, which seems very enlightened for the time period. The middle of the Enlightenment! Well, that was fun! I’ll try something more ambitious this week!
Mi-Shell Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 I will be busy for quite a while with my Hedgewitch Plant Oracle project 🙂 My work table is full of cards and Plant and Herb books and every day brings new insights :)
Little Fang Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 @AJ-ish/Sharyn Decks are not allowed to be traded outside the subscriber trading section. 😉

Bodhiseed Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 This week I'll be using Le Veritable Tarot de Marseille, restored and reconstructed by Kris Hadar and published by Mortagne. Lee Bursten's The Marseille Tarot Companion will be a resource for reading with this deck. The oracle I'll be using is one I created myself called the Greek Alphabet Runes. AlaskaLaserMaid on Etsy burned the designs on cedar tiles for me. Today's draws are the Nine of Cups and Eta: I am convinced that most people do not grow up...We marry and dare to have children and call that growing up. I think what we do is mostly grow old. ― Maya Angelou, Letter to My Daughter The LWB for the Hadar describes the Nine of Cups as a departure from adolescence. What does that look like on an emotional level? We learn to be flexible and resilient instead of demanding life give us what we want. We learn to be responsible, cultivate self-honesty, and admit our mistakes. We realize we don't know everything and are willing to listen to other points of view; we seek out opportunities for growth and learn from our experiences. We develop a calm disposition and a confidence that does not feed on being better than someone else. We maintain a sense of humor, an open mind and an empathetic response toward others. Of course no one does this perfectly, we just realize these traits are something worthy of aspiring to and developing. The Greek letter Eta was derived from the Phoenician letter het meaning “wall” or “fence.” It is tempting as adults to see ourselves as founts of wisdom and emotional intelligence while relegating the young to a clueless group. Yet wise maturity depends on the quality of our years, not the quantity.
sweeneyish Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 Hello again, count me in! I really enjoyed last week. I am very hopeful my copy of the Light Seers’ Tarot might arrive tomorrow, and if so, I might switch to that, but for now I‘ll go with the Radiant Wise Spirit Tarot, one of my go-tos. My time to with the Cosmic Slumber tarot was interesting. I loved the themes and some of the imagery, but I had a hard time getting good and in-depth readings with it, and I felt that compared to more traditional RWS decks, there wasn’t quite as much to work with in the images.

KaiNO Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 I'd like to join 🙂 I've never participated here before, so: Hi guys! I just opened a deck new to me right now. So why not commit myself to look closer at it this week. And this looks like a nice place to be while doing so. I actually bought the Tarot of the Spirit in July 2019, but first now I've removed the plastic and hold it in my hands. This feels like the right time to get to know the deck.
Wyrdkiss Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 Loving this soft and subtle deck. The knight is the energy I am to carry forward and embrace. Positive polarity of the personality type. Even the challenging cards have an effective but loving delivery.
sweeneyish Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 (edited) @Wyrdkiss This deck is so sweet. I love the clear RWS symbols but with the lighter treatment. My Light Seers deck didn’t arrive yesterday, but I may have splurged and also purchased the Wild Unknown Tarot, which did arrive, so rather than my old standby I’m going to stick to it this week. And wow. I see why people rave about it - It is deep, beautiful, intuitive, creative…I absolutely love it so far. Edited February 22, 2022 by sweeneyish

And this spread is just one example why! I love the eye rhymes in this deck. It makes for easy and insightful reading. Kim Krans really tapped into something.
VGimlet Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 Welcome to the Deck of the Week thread KaiNO!

Absolutely, @vulprix - That was my first reading with it, my usual past/present/future of the day, and what a story it tells. I glanced at the book to get some of her unique takes (and they were very insightful), but definitely it lends itself to just going with the flow of the pictures and seeing what they tell. I'm definitely in love!
vulprix Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Welcome indeed, @KaiNO!! Very exciting to get to know a new deck. I love that you have had it for a couple of years and that NOW is the time! This is special 😊
KaiNO Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 (edited) Glad to be here 😊 It is very nice and inspiring to see pictures from your decks. So, here are a couple from mine. First impression of deck: The good: I think I will like the colors and imagery of the cards. I like the terms Fire/Water/Earth. Air would have been better than Wind. But much better than traditional Wands/Cups/Swords/Pentacles. I also like that the deck uses the terms Father/Mother/Brother/Sister. Each card is named, that's annoying for some, but I like it. The bad: I don't like that the backside will reveal whether a card is reversed or not. The ugly: The deck was first published in 1992 my version in 2011, at least that's what's printed on every card. How convenient and smart, not! The deck is from the time when borders still where used. I love concepts such as Tree of Life/Kabbalah and Astrology, and this deck is more on the esoteric side of tarot. So, when I bought the deck I also got hold of the relevant literature. Really looking forward to dive into it. Edited February 23, 2022 by KaiNO Something bad was really ugly, if you see what I mean.
sweeneyish Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Beautiful art, @KaiNO - Reminds me of the Thoth deck a bit, but not quite as...aggressive? You'll have to let us know how it reads! Boy, I think I have found my deck with the wild unknown. Every reading I have done so far has felt so easy and intuitive. A spread I did for someone today, based on the clarity spread from the handbook. The stories the cards tell together are so compelling:

Thanks for your participation here. I love the Fool -- over the edge in a fashion and metaphor we can all relate to.

It's interesting, I was a little concerned I wouldn't like a deck where the pips were more abstract then an RWS deck, but something about the way she portrays them really helps with understanding and intuition. And my pleasure being here - Really happy to be exchanging messages with people who are so passionate about Tarot.
