Hello! i dont know really how to start here, i have struggled with addiction since i was 13 (now 28) and have recently left a treatment centre, have been engaging with a 12 step fellowship and have got a sponsor and am working the steps.

I was adement that the steps wernt for me as i am an atheist and have never considered my self a very spiritual person but have realised that to give life a go i should be open to everything.

have been give an old set of tarot cards and thought id give it a go

It's hard to really give yourself into recovery when you don't believe in one of the 12 steps. It feels like a lie...and it is.

If you replace the word god with good. It goes a long way to releasing those feelings that you have to believe in a god 

to be truly recovered. Resist the temptation to use the tarot cards to "predict" your future, but use them to focus on the wonderful things the universe creates - like you.

Your connection through the cards, might lead you to a path of helping others like yourself that are struggling with the 12 step program

Welcome @Higg94 and good luck with things. Whatever it takes, your personal beliefs (or none...!) don't have to stand in your way. You do it your way and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

hi thank you all for your kind replies 🙂 well the whole god thing was a huge barrier for me (and so many others) but once you start speaking to people you soon realise it doesnt have to be god it can be anything you put your faith into. for me its nature, atheist or not i beleive nature created us and everything around us from matter that was already on the planet, so for me it is sciences version of god haha 🙂
