Wyrdkiss Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Fantastic array of decks on the table this week. I'll share more thoughts later. in the meantime, I've no room for hesitation -- the card of the day is reminding me I must get to the tasks at hand. Momentum, drive, direction, focus, action. The Chariot.
Wyrdkiss Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 I've been reading the definitions from the free PDF of the LWB for my deck. The court cards are different from many other traditions -- really a world all their own. And fairly myopic. I'm not sure how I feel about them just yet.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 What a nice spread of decks this week! Love all the shares. Last week was week #740 for me. Starting in 2006, a different deck each week, a draw every day, it has been a fun and fulfilling and fascinating journey,. I'm going to stop now 🙂 Over the last 18 months I've created my own deck, up to nearly 325 cards now in four suits, I'll be using that one going forward. It has become a lot more fun than decks created by someone else, and I draw more deeply from it. Continue onward my friends! Sharyn

AnomalyTempest Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 @Page of Ghosts You are right about the difference between the second coat and the first. I will definitely make sure I do them all like that from now on. @AJ-ish/Sharyn Wow what a long time. Also, 325 cards is like 4 decks. 🤯 Good luck on your journey and come back for a visit sometime. 😄 My weekly spread: 1, What to prioritize this week? Completion (The World) Might be time to move on. Mom has her next Doctor's appt on Friday and she is hoping they will let her drive again. I was thinking it might be time to see how she manages to get her walker in and out of her car. Final little pieces put together to make sure she will be okay on her own. Might visit my friend's lake house for a few days because she's closer to mom than I am so I will be close in case she needs me. 2. How can I better organize my time? Letting Go (8 of Cups) Well here we seem to have conformation of the previous card. Start stepping back and letting mom do more for herself. 3. A way to be productive without feeling overwhelmed. Control (King of Swords) Don't let myself get to boxed in by my routine. It is there to serve me, not be my master. It's okay to do things out of order or even skip them sometimes. 4. How can I incorporate what I love? Ordinariness (8 of Pentacles) Remember every task is sacred. Another saying I picked up somewhere: Never despise any task, however small, because in doing anything you are either creating something or bettering it. Also, if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. 😄 5. Something new can try to increase self care. Rebirth (10 Swords) Another Lion. I need to let my inner child out. Don't be afraid to be me.

Your pity party comment made it come to mind. I like that one a lot. Great quote. This is one of my favourite poems by Rumi about accepting our moods, no matter what form they take: This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. @Page of Ghosts I'm really glad you're enjoying seeing all the cards. The Paradoxical is definitely strange, but I am quite attracted to it for some reason. I was sure I would prefer the more standard deck since I certainly like it more than the Paradoxical Blue I have, but there's something about the way he coloured this one that really gets into me.

I actually feel similarly about the court cards in the Deviant Moon. In a similar vein to the Trionfi, the Wands and Cups I find to be fairly positive personalities (for the most part), whereas the Pentacles and the Swords are kind of the villains of the deck. I think that's pushed further here - Hard to see any positive in the Queen or King of Coins, for example - Or the Knight, for that matter. I don't think he likes them very much! On the other hand, he definitely encourages intuitive reading of the meanings. Actually, I think he released the LWB for the Trionfi far after the release of the deck. In the book on the Deviant Moon, he notes that he actually wrote the meanings and descriptions for the Major cards far after they were drawn. I suspect he works from inspiration and intuition on the images, and later fills in some meanings in the text for us, but would probably recommend to go pretty freely with our own interpretations. That's helped me with those problematic court cards. Like I got the Queen of Coins the other day, and realized I was the cat in one of the drawings (somewhat hilariously 🤣)

sweeneyish Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 And my reading for today (Sorry for the multiple posts, I hope that wasn't annoying - I had a lot of catch up on the thread!) Gah, Three of Swords two days in a row! These swords are following me around lately. I'm just going to give a quick full picture interpretation here. In the centre we have the World - Yay. This is (I guess like most people?) one of my favourite cards to get. For me, it has a lot of spiritual significance in my Buddhist practice, although Tarot and Buddhism would not appear to go together in most ways. My principle practices are translated roughly in English as "The Great Completion/Perfection" and "The Great Seal", with the seal being on all of reality. For me, the World represents the deepest level of those practices. So to 'achieve' the World, I have to turn (like the World) to and embrace my pain (Three of Swords), and not allow myself to be distracted/try to bypass those pains with shiny things (Knight of Coins).

Sharyn I will miss you @AJ-ish/Sharyn I don't know how many weeks it's been for me - the journal with my start date is still buried in the storage room. 😛 "What a long, strange trip it's been." Maybe strange isn't quite the right word, haha.. I think we both started before the official old thread started years ago in the alternate world of AT. Drop in from time to time and say hey. And you can always join in if you find a new deck or two to break in.

sweeneyish Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 My reading for today: Good things come to those who wait… IV of Swords: I think this little sprite might be my favourite card in the deck. Meditating inside a flower, strengthening their awareness and loving kindness. But they’re well protected - look at those waving blades! Wisdom in stillness, but keeping vigilance against any incoming danger. VIII of Swords: Stillness turns into stagnation. The lively flower is replaced by tight bindings. The swords no longer protect, but trap. The man’s face is obscured and only one eye can see clearly. This is a reminder to keep the stillness vibrant and alive, and to not get stuck. King of Coins: Here comes the jolly King, holding forth a coin in offering. There is something beneficial coming my way, regardless of my choices. I need to enjoy what the universe is offering to me.
Page of Ghosts Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 I remembered I have these tiny easels that are perfect for displaying my card of the day, so here she is, the Daughter of Grails, along with my cup of ginger tea and the bag for the deck, which used to house my Deviant Moon deck before I sent it away. I want to visit the fun quilting shop in town some day and see if they have some fabric better suited for my vampires, maybe something with roses? Some weeks ago, or maybe a month at this point, I complained about doing single cards as my card of the day, but as I'm getting to know the Tarot of Vampyres better I don't feel like I often need more than just one card to go off from. Anyway, today will be a quiet and relaxing day with some writing between house chores and errands.
vulprix Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 @AJ-ish/Sharyn, I am so happy that you have found fulfillment in a long, thorough, amazing journey with your cards! What a feat! I hope you are proud ☺️🌟 We will DEFINITELY miss you week by week and I hope you drop by to say hey, too. (i am using the Marshmallow Marseille this week in my own little world, but I have been busy with school, work, family, dating and my dear bunnies. I hope to be much more active here again when I can in the future, it’s a highlight of my online life! 💖)

sweeneyish Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 @Page of Ghosts Do you make your own deck bags? I wish I had that skill and patience! May 11th This is a really interesting spread, especially after the stillness of the last spread. There’s a lot of decisiveness and authority here. To me, it looks like the Emperor is sending his troops out to battle. The Emperor: I just noticed how bird-like he is - his cape is actually bird wings, and his feet look like talons. He is self-disciplined, structured, and stable. Knight of Swords: He is vicious and aggressive, full of confidence and power. Don’t mess with this dude! Courage, massive action against problems, a little restless. King of Swords: He is a lot like the Emperor. Authority, power, discipline. He has high moral standards, but don’t cross him or he may resort to less than honourable means to ensure victory. I think today is a day to lean into my self-made structures, to be disciplined in body and mind, and maybe be ready for some battles. If they arrive, I need to be decisive and courageous, and not defer to my usual passiveness.

I hope it was graspable and applicable for the day / week going forward. There is fire erupting everywhere in those courts!
