Pru1983 Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't figure out the best one for this question... I'm going to Kensington, London for a few days soon and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for little quirky shops, the sort that will sell tarot cards and crystals, etc please but not at ridiculous London prices?
Guest Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 I'm not from London but my local museum sells small crystals, perhaps it is the same in London museums? Will it be on the website?
Guest Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 https://www.london-fossils-crystals.co.uk/ I've only done a quick Google search so no personal knowledge
DanielJUK Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Kensington is an area of really expensive boutique type shops and expensive shopping. As well as many museums. I don't know of any tarot shops in that area. If you are going somewhere like the National History Museum (in this area) or the nearby Victoria & Albert Museum, you might find crystals. But probably not tarot cards. London has some great famous tarot shops, it's so worth visiting at least once. They are probably more expensive than online prices but they are an experience! They are really around the Covent Garden area and you can even tour around them 🙂 If you have the time, get the tube from South Kensington Station and go to Covent Garden Station directly (it's on the Piccadilly Line - dark blue) Watkins Book is in Cecil Court, it's very near Leicester Square Station (one before Covent Garden if you want to walk less). They have tarot and crystals - http://www.watkinsbooks.com/ Mysteries is near Covent Garden. They all do readings at various times but it's a book shop and readings - http://www.mysteries.co.uk/ Near Mysteries is The Astrology Shop, this focuses more on Astrology but a famous shop - https://www.londonastrology.com/ If you keep going north from these shops, you get to the British Museum area. Around this are.... The Atlantis Bookshop - sells magic and card things - http://www.theatlantisbookshop.com/ Treadwell's Books is moving more into Bloomsbury now but a great - http://www.treadwells-london.com/ Get them up on google map and have a look. Go to Covent Garden on a map and look up tarot shops, you can see all the pins 🙂 I highly recommend visiting Watkins and Treadwell's as a great experience This thread is fine in this area
KiMo Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Hi @Pru1983! I'm not sure there's much in Kensington specifically but if you can get on a tube to Covent Garden there are a few places. There's the famous Watkins Books, and also The Astrology Shop, Mysteries, and Buddha on a Bicycle. A bit further north towards Russell Square is also Treadwell's Books (small but very friendly) and The Atlantis Bookshop. Have fun 😊
KiMo Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 You did a much more thorough job than I did @DanielJUK 😅 I love poking around those places whenever I have a bit of extra pocket money 😂
ashtoreth Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 I got sent here by @DanielJUK when looking for witchy shops in London 🙂 I love these shops --I've been to them all 😅 There's a little map/trail that lets you cover all the Soho shops in one long walk. Of these, the Atlantis bookshop is my favorite -- really good stock of books and such. I'm more after shops that are hidden/tucked away to explore! I found one in Twickenham and it is beautiful (It's called Hare and the Moon), which made me wonder whether there are more shops like that?
