The forum is almost unusable just now because of this:

I'm a lifetime subscriber, but I would rather send more money than disable my adblocker. I've gone to another browser to post this and turned it off temporarily, but this is almost enough to make me quit. I could live with it turning up occasionally but at this moment it is actually impossible to post without turning off adblocker - and as Brave blocks ads automatically and I LIKE Brave.... Can it please not pop up EVERY time we open or refresh a page, please ? I can't even read a thread at the moment, or post my feedback. This isn't a "please consider"; it's an "unblock us or go away." NOT OK.

The adblocker blocker updated.

Once again, and I've posted about this before, THESE are the only ads you'll see:

If people are blocking them, what would be the point of people paying for adverts on our forum? Only guests will see google ads and unrelated things.

Thank you for being a supporter, but these ads are not related to subscriptions.

Well, sorry, but I shall continue to block them; I don't want to see them; I never use paid reading sites anyway, so I don't need to.. Could you not do as other forums I'm on do and have an option specifically to pay not to see ANY ads ? I'd pay probably as much as one of your advertisers does not to see them.

If you are having to post this 'once again' then perhaps there is an issue that needs resolving.  The pop up seemingly gives people the option to continue using their adblocker but this doesn't appear to be the case however it is hard to tell as you cannot fully read what you are clicking on.  If there's no intention to enable adblocking then perhaps a better worded pop up would be beneficial.

A lot of sites ask people to unblock to use their site. It's a fair request. I have found on this site that the functionality of the multiple selecting replies (pressing all the +'s on posts and then having a button on the bottom right to reply to them all) is blocked when I blocked ads.

If you press the other option it allows you to use the site for a while but if you have an ad blocker on it comes back.

@Little Fang has always been fully transparent about how she runs this site. For people who log in to their account, the only ads are those small banners. It's a fair requirement of our community to ask to unblock to support businesses who pay to promote with us. It supports our community and related small businesses from our members.

I totally agree its a fair request however the wording of the pop up is really unhelpful and doesn't allow you to use the site for a while, it appears as soon as you click away from the page you are on.  That said, I would have thought encouraging people to use the site and possibly pay subscriptions would be better for the community than the advertising revenue this forum isn't generating.

We will take all the suggestions on board for the future, thanks 🙂

It will only appear again if you dismiss it without turning off the adblocker. Let me know if it's doing that otherwise.

Also quick note, you don't have to turn off the blocker and keep it off, you can add this forum as an exception and it should be easy enough to do! 🙂

OK - I did add this forum as an exception - but it has come to my attention that  I don't actually see the banner ads - and, crucially, I am now stuck with seeing the FB and twitter badges. I know (from another invision forum) that there can be a toggle not to see them - could you please activate that ?

Wow. ETA - not as big a problem as I thought - they actually take me to - the thread I'm in, and not to FB or twitter at all... Weird. What are they supposed to do ?

The FB and Twitter buttons share the thread page on their services, when I click them they neatly have a link ready to post 🙂

Working out why the banner isn't working for you @gregory is super tricky. Can you use a browser with no blocking add-ons and see if it works? It does work for me but I have no ad blocker here and JavaScript and high security turned down a bit. If I use my usual settings, I can't use the quote multiple threads at once feature I find, so it all works for me now.

I have done - in three browsers - loaded in safe mode so with no addons of any kind.. One shows them, along with ads for boots and some rather nasty jewellery; the other two just the moon phases. It's not a biggie - just weird !

ETA

OK - I have no idea about all the others I tried - but it's a built in block in Opera which was a *** to disable. Thanks for trying, @DanielJUK
