Follow this tutorial to submit an image to our deck library!

Screenshots are done on a laptop, the process is the same if you're doing it from a mobile, you will just need to look for the right places.  There may be a tutorial for this added in the future!  Please PM @DanielJUK if you have any issues!

The numbers on the images refer to the step number in the writing.

Step 1: Head to the deck library by clicking the link in the header.  Look through the lists on this page to check that the deck(s) you want to add are not there.  We only allow 1 image per deck.

Step 2: Head to the members upload folder by clicking the link.

Step 3: Read the submission rules thoroughly.  Of particular importance is the number of cards you are allowed to show.  This is for copyright reasons.  There are some example images further down this page too, please take a look at them! Images must be photographs. Please don't photoshop the cards in, or scan them

Step 4: Click "Add Images" when you're ready to upload your image(s).

Step 5: Click the big plus sign.  This will bring up a window that allows you to find and select your photo from wherever it happens to be on your device.  Select your photo.  You can add multiple images at once - but only one image per deck!

Step 6: Wait for it to upload.  Depending on the size of your file it may take a few minutes and it isn't obvious that's its doing anything.  Be patient.

Step 7: When it has finished uploading, you'll see a small version of your image.  Click on the photo to bring up the edit details box.334349584_5Uploaded.thumb.png.e65dccac399313853c1f2ce1baccd8ca.png

Step 8: In the box called "Caption", put the title of the deck (and ONLY the title, no author information at this point).

1533394825_6Clicktoedit.thumb.png.f33890c93fd432a072b6b1db3df3805a.png

Step 9: In the description box, only include the basic details of the deck in this format.  No paragraphs of writing.  Just short bullet points.

You can use this template, you don't need to fill in all the details (e.g. in this example deck I didn't include the weight of the deck).  However you MUST include a link of where to purchase it, or if it is Out of Print and can't be purchased, state that it is Out of Print.

Template:

---

Artist -

Author -

Publisher (or Self-Published) -

First Published -

Edition -
ISBN -

Weight -
Card Size -
Box Size -
Language -

Purchase here - (link or links)

Details - (anything else you want to include about the deck)

---

Step 10 (optional): Click on "Set Tags" to add some tags.  This can include the main theme, the author, RWS, OOP (out of print), colorful, etc.  I review all tags before putting them in the library and may edit them if I feel there are some better options, but this will help me approve your submission quicker!

Step 11: Click on 'Save Details'.  If you don't, you may lose all the hard work you just put in with the details.

If you have more than one deck you are uploading an image for, repeat steps 7 - 11 for each deck.

Step 12: Click 'Submit All Images' to submit all the images you've added!  This will then ping me (DanielJUK) and when I have time I'll come through and hopefully approve your image, or I'll send you a PM with any changes I need you to make.

You'll then be taken back to the Members Upload area.  You should be able to see the image of your deck in the area.  Click on it to bring up this screen (see next image).  Check all the details are correct.  Use the the Gear Icon in the top right and go to "Edit Details" if you find you need to change anything.

Step 13: To add a review, click the "Write a review" button.

I take it that we don't need to submit all 78(+?) images though???  (uhm, only 4-6 images to a photo, but some decks have more photos??)

I have a bunch of decks not in our library and will try to get around to posting them here...  eek!

It says in the rules:

- maximum of 6 cards shown in photos for tarot decks

- maximum of 4 cards shown in photos for oracle deck.

1 photo per deck.

But where do we upload the image?

May I respectfully beg for SCANS rather than photos ? There are a good few decks already up where you really cannot see the cards clearly.  And at least no patterned backgrounds.

That is definitely reasonable suggestions.  I'm not sure we could enforce scans easily as not everyone has the technology but getting higher quality clear photos would definitely benefit some decks.

I'll chat with the staff about improvements to the deck library over my Easter holidays.

If you spot any that are particularly bad, please feel free to PM me a list so I know which ones would benefit from new images if we can!

How should we submit new scans for already existing photos?

Don't just yet, let me talk to the staff to work out a plan of action first!

I am happy to scan any deck I own if someone needs scans.

Thank you 😊

I'll do an update here when we've discussed among staff.

While we cannot ask everyone to scan (not everyone has a good scanner, not even me (yet)), we do hope folks send in good quality photos. We don't need exact detailed images either, we just want to give folks a taste of what each deck looks like.

My offer still stands. In any event can you please specify a PLAIN background, rather than someone's fancy tarot cloth or pretty tablecloth ?

This kind of thing makes the cards really hard to see.

I noticed yesterday when I was browsing as well that some of the photos are dark or blurry which is not super bad just means new photos/scans with updated technology 🙂 Let me know if I may be of assistance with replacing some. But I will absolutely place them on neon patterned backgrounds just for @gregory (kidding!)

thanks for all your suggestions and ideas

We want the deck library to be warm and homely, just like the community. We don't really want to go along the lines with the library as a database with high-quality scans of just the cards. The members own images are sweet. But there is a line there and some backgrounds are distracting and some photos are not the best. We will discuss what to do about it in the future 🙂

Hello,

I don't see the "Add tag" and "Save details" buttons.

Posted

I can't see where the tagging menu is during the process currently @Pio2001 but your deck submissions are in the queue to be processed. So they were successfully added. They will be put into the categories and sorted when the queue of waiting decks is sorted through.

Hi Friends of the Deck Library

I've taken over organising and maintaining this section. We've had some technical issues accessing the library to organise it and had to get forum support to resolve this.

We are back! and all resolved! ❤️ Please bear with me as I am sorting out the decks waiting to be organised but we are going again 🙂

If you want to upload a deck, please do! It will really help me to follow the tutorial and make sure to fill out as many details of the deck as possible.

Please contact me if you have any problems or post on this thread here
