Laura Borealis Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 There's a beautiful passage from Hildegard von Bingham where she describes a feather carried by the breeze, and compares it to the human soul as "a feather on the breath of God." There was an album of her music with that as the title. I wonder if it inspired this art? But I too think the feathers distract. Perhaps if they were much smaller.
Eugenie Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 I am just hoping maybe he decides to remove them and make a Medieval No-Feathers deck?

Sartori Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Yes, the graphics are good, the references to Renaissance decks are interesting, but the feathers look superfluous.
DanielJUK Posted February 4 Posted February 4 If you own it, what are your thoughts on Prisma Visions by James R. Eads? I bought the Green Glyphs kickstarter and own the Lenormand and Tarot decks in that range. If you own Prisma, do the minors work reading individually? I know if you put them together, you get an image across the whole suit but are they okay to pull on their own?

I think you can read the minors individually as opposed to lining them up to make a complete scene. This is a good deck IMO if you’re more of an intuitive reader and like to use directional cues (energies/things/people coming in or going out).
Wyrdkiss Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Picked up w/ a gift card the pocket mini version of the Darkwood Tarot. It's got a Little Red Riding Hood angle gong on that I dig, and it is interesting enough, but no guide book is enclosed in the small version. I'm wondering if getting the included book is worth buying the standard sized mass market? Please share your experience.
JoyousGirl Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Does it have a LWB? I just checked out a Youtube video and the box looks lovely, as does the book. How in love with the deck are you? Do a few more readings and see if the responses are too uncanny to not get 🙂 It is a lovely deck.
Barleywine Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I'm a big fan of the woodcut style of Tomas Hijo and own the Lord of the Rings and Tarot del Toro decks. Although internet sources are confused on this, I believe the Labyrinth and Dark Crystal decks are also his. I'm not much into pop-culture "themed" decks, but is either of those worth owning for practical use and not just as a completionist collector? (Just so you know, I don't mind "pip" decks.)

I think the cards can be read individually quite well. It's a beautiful deck, it has a very peaceful, flowing vibe to it for me. If that makes sense. I hope you enjoy it if you decide to get it.

The feathers were probably included as a unique selling point but seem a deal breaker to me, so distracting. Maybe some of you will see this and decide it's your cup of tea. It's a beautiful deck without the feathers..too bad. I also would find it very distracting. I wonder what their thoughts were behind it.
gregory Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 It’s actually a deck I have resisted with ease, if that helps at all…..
katrinka Posted March 2 Posted March 2 It de-enables itself, doesn't it? The feathers make it so singularly awful, I had to google it. Apparently Jr. Rivera (Beautiful Creatures Tarot) had a hand in it. It figures.
rylla Posted March 3 Posted March 3 One card 2 feathers, Ok. Many cards many feathers. In a spread: feathers, feathers, feathers.

Drake_Winterfell Posted March 4 Posted March 4 If the feathers deck didn't have the feathers it would be a good deck. The feathers really do ruin it.
Ferrea Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I'm currently curating my wishlist and came across the Slow Tarot. To those who own this deck: how do you like it? And could you explain the "Balance" card to me? Here is a flip-through if you are curious.

And could you explain the "Balance" card to me? Here is a flip-through if you are curious. Cesare Ripa (sixteenth-century Renaissance scholar and iconographer) described Justice's scales of balance as “a metaphor for justice, which sees that each man receives that which is due him, no more and no less.” Here, Bryant offers the elements in balance, suggesting that everything and everyone be given the share due them, whether that is punishment or reward, based on their actions and not race, religion, politics, whether we like them, etc. I love this deck because it makes me look at the cards in different ways; if you like your tarot decks to have illustrations that fit certain meanings, you might not like this deck.
Ferrea Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Thank you so much for your response, @Bodhiseed! I'm a bit familiar with Iconologia by Ripa, but I don't get the image, to be honest. I should have made this clearer in my post that it's the image in particular that I don't understand. Why is she holding a candle and a glass/cup in her hands, and what does this have to do with the consequences of our actions? I actually like decks that use alternative imagery to represent certain concepts—but I need to understand those images. In this case, I'm a bit puzzled.

I typed out a whole explanation and then forgot to hit the submit button. 🤣 So let me try again. All of the elements are present in the card. Candle for fire (or the sun in the background if you prefer), cup for water, her feet firmly planted on the ground (and she's barefoot), and the eagle/hawk/ some kind of bird in the sky above for air. An excess of any of those elements would create an imbalance and have consequences of some sort. To me, the card is well thought out. I'd never heard of this deck before now and now it's on my list. Thanks for sharing it. ETA: Since you asked if you should buy it I guess I should say something. I would if I were you. I watched the flip-through and really like what I saw. It gives a different view of the cards but mostly follows the RWS. Edited May 16 by RunningWild
Therese Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Does someone own the Madam Lydia Tarot and if yes how do you like it? There will be a Kickstarter campaign at the end of October and I'd rather not buy it, but it doesn't let me go completely.
gregory Posted Sunday at 09:17 AM Author Posted Sunday at 09:17 AM It seems to be easily available - why go for Kickstarter ?
