It should be easy to read with it as it follow the PCS design/pictures. I have lots of decks do I need this one? does it bring something new or outstanding to a collection? Is it between your favorites? Thank you! I don't have it (yet) but I have looked at flip troughs several times. I am in an FB group where someone uses it for readings and so far I love all that I have seen of it. I especially like Death and the Hanged One among others. So I can't answer any of your questions. But I am really interested in the answers that you will get.
TinySpark Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Happy New Year! My 2026 new year's goal is to get back into reading. Unfortunately all of my tarot decks are 1,000 miles away in storage - for the next 6 months. My go-to decks are Anna K & Victorian Romantic - and are far too expensive to buy as "back-up" copies. However, I came across the Trash Panda Tarot while looking for a fun, intuitive deck. The raccoons are ridiculously cute, but I'm not sure if it's too light-hearted for regular readings. Does this seem like a good deck to get me started again?
DanielJUK Posted January 2 Posted January 2 @monroe I have no experience with the Trash Panda deck but if you want a fix for your Anna K, Fool's Dog makes a digital app for it on iOS and Android. You have to buy it (you own it for life and it's cheaper than the physical deck cost). Just search for it in those stores. Maybe worth having a digital deck as a back up whilst it's in storage? Just a suggestion, some people hate digital tarot. I think with the Trash Panda, it depends how much you like Raccoons or not 🙂

I love hate the Fools Dog app 😍 I’ve always wanted a Buckland Romani deck but it’s rare & out of print. And now I have a digital Buckland Romani to play with on my phone. But I like having the physical deck for readings to help me take time for myself and disconnect from all the screens thanks for sharing this with me!!!

In my experience, if a deck follows RWS closely (which this deck seems to do), it can have the cutest, sweetest images in the world but still be brutally honest. Otherwise, as Daniel said, it really depends on how much you like raccoons (and seeing quite a bit of trash!).

I've always wondered why the gummy bear tarot seemed like an easy read... never sure why it was so compelling to me. I think I just have a weird sense of humor lol - that gummy bear tower card though heh...
PathWalker Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Just wanted to log in and say how much I treasure my Gummi Bears Tarot! Yes it might have something dreadful to say, but it still makes me smile, and feel there will be a chink of light in the situation. If you like it, then use it and enjoy
zurgles Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I’m wondering whether to get the Smith Waite Centennial tarot. I have Prime shipping for the next two days. The regular one is about $20 (just the deck) and would ship overnight and the tin one is the same but gets here Feb 2 - 16. (I don’t have a car and there aren’t any witchy shops near me.) I have the Universal Waite which is a redrawn clone, and that’s the only RWS deck I own. The only tin deck I own is the Halloween tarot. The only thing with the non-tin version is I’d need to get a bag. But it’d get here next day. Should I get it?
DanielJUK Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I like the tinned versions so you can travel with it, etc. The set version has nice postcards and extra cards of Pamela's art and a book. The Smith Waite Centennial tarot is very popular as an edition, many people love it. My personal opinion is I don't like the muted colours, I like my decks colourful. So the muted colours turn me off, however other people like it because it's less distracting.
zurgles Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) Thanks Daniel. I checked the us games site and they offered a $4 discount and 1-4 day shipping for the tin version so it only ended up being $4 more to order through them and get it faster. The tin version is on its way. I’d seen the deck in person a long time ago and I thiiiink I liked the muted color palate, so hoping I like it when I get it. I think that’ll be it for a long time on getting new tarot decks. I’ll be up to 30 tarot decks! What a milestone hahaha Edited January 20 by zurgles
Nemia Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I love the Centennial. It took me 15 years of tarot experience to buy my first RWS, and it was the Centennial. I really like working with it, and I hope you'll like it as well. It looks aged, and that's what I like about it.
zurgles Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Thanks Nemia. That’s a nice testimonial. I’m looking forward to it. One thing I liked seeing in pictures was how the blues showed up. The graininess made it look really lovely and the color looks deep.

gregory Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 I object to the name. That is no panda; that's a raccoon. (and @Sar - raccoons are usually guilty..... )

It's my favourite RWS deck as well ...again, because the colours are muted, but the images are very clear. That, and the deck is a dream to handle. The couple of extra cards are because the sheets the cards are printed on take 80 cards, so apparently the publishers decided to fill in the two empty slots with something nice for us. 🙂

Troll Posted January 24 Posted January 24 78 magic is on sale Etsy 80 euros with shipping + tax . My issue is that it being limited edition is I will rob someone out of their soul deck .Because I will buy it only because I love the art and I am big fantasy buff
gregory Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 If ir's for sale and you want it (and can afford it) - buy it. Many of us back their stuff on Kickstarter, and will have it already, and I know they need all the money they cab get just now because of Trump's tariffs, which have meant that the most recent two decks they made ad which many of us here have paid for and await with excitement cannot be mailed at the moment as she can't afford all the extra costs he has put on her. So - if you buy it, you may help me and others get our new ones...
Troll Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Tarot of Meta Barons -Great art ,cool looking, Jodorovsky ,cheap 20 euros .My issue if it is real in few years it will cost few hundred not 20 ,and because of it I will never be able to use it .And buying just for collection is wrong .This is the rare case when inner voice says definitely NO ,even if the urge to get great bargain is there

There is NOTHING wrong with collecting; it supports artists and the production of decks, and every card is an artwork in itself., with something of interest. I only own one deck with literally no redeeming merit.
Nemia Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Very true. I can't afford to buy original art, but each deck is a gallery of its own. I respect people who buy decks for strictly utilitarian reasons and don't want to collect decks that they don't read with. But even the decks I never read with go through my hands regularly when I put them up as weekly or decan cards, or for my signposts of the year readings. Other decks are for meditation, affirmation or simply looking at. So no, in my personal opinion, it's not wrong to buy a deck just for its aesthetic value.

Saddest thing in all of this ,that I hope it`s fake ,because then I could use it .If it isn`t then I will put in the box with I ching Dead moon and never will open it
gregory Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 (edited) If you aren't going to open it, then don't buy it. That would be a waste, I agree. ALL mine have been opened and many of them, even the rarest ones, have been used for reading at least once. Tarot as an investment is a non starter unless you are looking at seriously limited and rare decks. LoS mass market ones aren't going to cut it. As for pirated ones - I have a few (I just bought one by accident, as I searched for it EVERYWHERE to verify it, failed - I couldn't even find the artist's name ! - so assumed it must be genuine, and only found out it was a knock-off in some reviews after I had received it.) I wouldn't buy one knowingly; it takes income from the original artist. Edited February 12 by gregory
