Link to my post not going to my post

1. Issue: When I copy the Share link of my personal post it doesn’t go to the post.

2. Browser: Brave and I tried Safari

3. Device: iPad

4. Theme: default

5. Details with images and links.

I think the problem you are having is about the preview link boxes. When you post a link to a specific post, it only appears in the top of the preview box. The main body takes you to the main thread.

 

Here is a pictorial demonstration I made in the past about this....

 

 

The red box area goes to the specific post, the rest will go to the thread.

 

I can't find the preview url link in your recent posts to check this.

 

Please let me know if this isn't the problem and we can look further into it. But I think it might be the url preview box, I only worked this out one day about direct posts links 😆

In both cases they aren’t actually going to the post I copied the link from.  Nor does the link go to the post if I open a new browser page and paste it in the address bar.

I am specifically trying to embed the link in text using the link option in a post however, the link doesn’t seem to go to the post in any of these formats.

I tested it out and that is the right link and post number for your post, but each time it goes to Misterei's adorable cat picture and spread 😮

I tried it out with Firefox on Desktop and on my mobile browser and each time it went like half a post too high, not directly to the post.

 

It looks like it happens on all browsers / devices. Also my theme is different to the default, so it's other themes

 

We will ask @Little Fang to have a look into it when she is next going past 🙂

We've had a look into it and tried many different browsers. It glitches on some browsers but not others, strangely Chrome always works fine with it

There is no easy solution to this one, it seems to only happen in last week's DOTW thread. We will keep monitoring the problem and see if it happens again to anyone or in any other thread 😀

For the record - it links directly to your Temperance post for me (Opera, windows 7) But in Pale Moon it goes to the cat - unless I sign in; THEN it does it correctly. Same thing with Firefox, and with Waterfox - but in Chrome it's right. Also in Brave. So it seems browsers that are Chrome based are OK with it, and ones that aren't it works if you are logged IN, but otherwise not ?

Unfortunately, when we were testing it, it seemed to affect some browsers when you were logged in. I had it on my phone browser and desktop. Also in @FindYourSovereignty's initial post she said it was in her Brave browser, so there is no rhyme or reason to it. Hopefully it's just a one-off but we can keep a log of it happening if it occurs to anyone else

Edit to add: I was logged in each time. Didn’t even think about trying it logged out.
