Rosebud Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Hi everyone, I just wonder whether is it normal to talk to your own card when you read for yourself? I just started learning to read tarot (for myself mainly) earlier this year, and usually I write my observation through writing. But writing sometimes tiring, and just a several weeks ago I started to talk through it and have a speech to text app to also record my reading. But at times I feel silly, or afraid whether I am going crazy as I talk to myself (and tarot card) 😆 because I read tarot almost everyday (for a daily pull or a 3 card pull), also I work hybrid so I have time to read tarot at my home even when I'm working. Sometimes I feel talking to tarot just so relieving, like talking to a friend... But Idk if it's healthy 😅 I just wonder what you guys usually do when you read tarot for yourself? Thank you for your time 😄
DanielJUK Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 I've moved this thread to Tarot Talk & Technique because it's more of a discussion than helping you interpret one of your readings 🙂 . It fits better over here. What do you mean by "your own card?" Do you pick a signficator to represent yourself? Many people have different methods and some people don't like reading and writing readings down, some people like to audio record them or video them. When you buy a reading, some readers prefer in person or writing or video or audio. It is whatever fits best for you. If you find talking to the card the best method that is what works for you. I talk to the cards when shuffling but in my head and not out loud. There is no problem if it works for you but if you find yourself just talking to your cards a lot and it's taking up all your time than that is probably unhealthy. Tarot like everything needs moderation and we must always keep our freewill and ground ourselves a little with it 🙂 .
Rosebud Posted December 30, 2022 Author Posted December 30, 2022 Thank you, @DanielJUK! I rarely use significator, so I talk to any card that just appeared and I find interesting. Now this seems more strange to me... Oh no, I have to stop for a while then 😆 You're right, this is kinda a reality check for me, I guess I need to moderate myself from reading the cards 😁
DanielJUK Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 There isn't anything inherently wrong with talking to the cards but only you can know when it gets too much. Tarot and divination can really help us with hope at times, advice and guidance. But we always have to make the final decisions and choices and take action ourselves. Sometimes it can become a crutch for our worries. There is a line! I know I have crossed it in my early years and now I ask what I need and don't repeat questions for a time period after asking. You will always learn more and more with it, so see how it goes 🙂
Rosebud Posted January 2, 2023 Author Posted January 2, 2023 Haha thank you @DanielJUK, glad to know that I'm not only one who crossed the line 😄 you've inspired me to take a mini-break from reading, this helps me a lot.
Guest Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I think even the most well-adjusted people have these little quirks that would raise many an eyebrow if people got to know about them. Yours is harmless enough, really. As long as you don't do it in public, you're good. Hope your break refreshes you.
Rosebud Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 oh! that's really on point, @Akhilleus no, of course I don't read my own card in public 😄 thank you so much!
