Hello from an old AT member (who mostly lurked)

Hello everyone!

I joined the AT forum early on (around 1999 I think), back when the Robin Wood was the popular deck du jour and you could still get a Greenwood for a reasonable price (alas, I didn’t). I mostly lurked, with long breaks of inactivity, so it’s doubtful anyone would remember me but I certainly remember a lot of AT members and it’s lovely to see some familiar names here.

My tarot journey has been long and circular. I started with the RWS as a teenager and used it exclusively for several years then switched to the Thoth. After some time, I got fed up with all the hermeticism and became interested in simpler cartomancy and “fortune telling” style reading. I started learning Lenormand and switched from GD decks to TdM and other historical pip decks.

A while ago I began studying Hellenic astrology and it has inspired me to revisit GD tarot. Right now, I’m enjoying all the hermeticism I couldn’t stand a decade ago, and I’m starting from scratch studying the Thoth and RWS from the ground up again. Today my daily draw was the 9 of discs, and since it’s always been one of my favourite cards, I thought it was fitting to use it as a profile picture!

Welcome to the forum, Mercuria! I’m also an ex-ATer. Can so relate to your journey with the cards. I’ve also had cycles of being deep into the esoteric elements of the RWS and Thoth interspersed with TdM. It’s one of the things I love about Tarot - so much depth.

Thanks for the welcome, Flaxen, gregory and joy!

Flaxen, I agree, one of the best things about tarot is the depth that allows one to focus on different approaches over time, and emphasise different elements of study and practice. It’s an interest that will truly keep one busy for a lifetime!

Welcome to the community @Mercuria glad you have found us over here 😀:animated-smileys-signs-085::78496:

The Greenwood is my dream deck to own one day, I know you can print a version yourself online but I want to own it sometime. So I have searches set up for it in various places and you don't really see it under $4000 often these days! 😱 There is no way I am paying that so I will keep waiting for it to come my way for an affordable price 🙂

Thanks for the welcome @FindYourSovereignty and @DanielJUK

@DanielJUK I’m very tempted to print a Greenwood, it’s great that the artist has given her blessing as it seems like a very special deck. I don’t think I could justify paying for a real copy, the price is just too high!

I have this on my radar as well. It seems like it will be a little project, but I am hopeful one day to get to it.
