sweeneyish Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I got the Bohemian Gothic Tarot in the mail last week and finally played with it a bit tonight. My first Baba deck - I definitely understand why people are so in love with their decks. The deck itself is beautiful, and comes with a beautiful wooden box. The cold pressed silver highlights are intense. And the illustrations on the cards themselves are extremely deep and evocative - I will definitely have a fun time interpreting these cards.
Tom Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I'm getting the Once Upon Tarot. This deck is very exciting to me, I'd seen the prerelease cards from Llewellyn, but I didn't know it had been actually.
Misterei Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) My 2 decks from Etsy Netherlands arrived just in time for the trip, so I brought them along. I used the Dondorf Revisited for may daily draw today [picture below]. Visually I quite like the deck, although the pure white insets are a bit jarring. A softer white would be better. I like the matte texture. The edges seem raw. They need to be finished so I think I will end up buying one of those ink pads to finish the edges. The cards are a bit hard to handle. Hopefully they will "break in". I also got a mini deck from the same vendor. It's visually similar but not exactly the same. Plan to use them together. Maybe in a GT with the large deck being Houses and mini being the spread itself. Edited May 31, 2024 by Misterei
JudithAnanda Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Never thought of starting to read Lenormand cards, but now I found these amazing cards by Azra Manzoor. They just arrived...
JudithAnanda Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Someone in my neighborhood is now enjoying the Tarot activity book that I was looking forward to starting on. The delivery service said it was delivered to me, but no book yet. So my search continues....
Rshwdrz Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Received the collector’s edition Monsoon Tarot deck from its previous owner. The illustrations are beautiful and mostly follow the RWS style, with a few exceptions (e.g., the Emperor). The deck exudes a serene and tranquil vibe with its soft color palette. I especially appreciate the linen card stock. Came across an video introducing the ideas behind the deck from the creator - would like to watch it soon : D

I hope you are following this up; the delivery company need to be able to PROVE it delivered - in the UK they mostly take photographs and in at least one widely publicised case, the correct recipient tracked down her parcel by the unusual colour of the other person's front door... I HOPE to receive my package of decks from LoS today. If it were up to me I would NEVER use UPS EVER again. (It wasn't' my choice in the first place, but I have asked them not to. Sadly I think they use a third party company who then....) Also some fencing, but you don't want to know about that.

Not sure where in the world you are located, but in the US we have "Informed Delivery" you can sign up for. You will get daily emails that includes photos of what you will be receiving each day in your mailbox. My mail service improved exponentially... I wasn't getting a lot of my mail before, including an $800 check I had to have reissued by my mortgage company! (I live in a very rural area and my service is abysmal.) My Brady Tarot is on the way from Australia. It has a long journey before it gets here. Fingers crossed it finds it way 😕
fire cat pickles Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 The Brady Tarot arrived today! How fast was that, all the way from Australia?! Unfortunately I'm at work till Monday morning...

It's been on and off my radar for quite a while and I just can't seem to make the decision one way or another. I've read reviews, looked at what I can online.

It was the wrong package that I was tracking! lol The Brady is still in Australia. Oh well, some else to look forward to. (At least I have new T-shirts!)

It wasn’t actually something that had been on my radar but I came across it online and decided it might make a nice addition to the decks I’m already not using but hope to eventually. Edited June 11, 2024 by RunningWild I had more to say.

Ah, same here. Always thought their offerings may be a tad overrated, but when my very first Baba came, I finally understood. That Bohemian Gothic was a vision. Just a few days ago I ordered the normal-sized one as my working deck, along with the companion book.
Guest Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 Finally got the Doors of Somlipith. Also received two vintage Lo Scarabeo art decks: the Bruegel and the Giotto Tarots. I asked the seller why the latter is a fair bit cheaper than the former, and he told me that it's because the Giotto has been re-released as the Dante Tarot. So that is why it looked so familiar!
fire cat pickles Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 The Brady Tarot arrived yesterday while I was at work and I opened today! All sealed, all cards with the book 🙂 Very pleased.
Misterei Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Congrats @fire cat pickles. It's an rare and attractive deck.
Penthasilia Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 My recent post adventures are thanks to Marco Benedetti. I love the Noblet and prefer facsimile. The only one I had was from Peterson, which is lovely but I don't love the lamination. Missed the one from Kartograme, so was ecstatic to hear Marco had done one and it is lovely. Has that same whoomping riffle shuffle as some the Il Meneghello decks. Also got his Personal Visconti- which I adore. The extra cards that allow you to mix and match to create your preferred majors set is pretty fantastic. Shuffles like a dream. A useable Visconti. Super excited about it. I honestly haven't been in tarot circles much due to work, so I have no idea what "new" things are out. Just trying to catch up and see what everyone is loving on Kickstarter and such. It is nice to be back.
Guest Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Received quite a haul from a gracious collector. One is a first-edition Victorian Romantic Tarot deck. It was fully sealed, but I just had to open it. It's freaking gorgeous! Too bad I don't have the companion book. I wonder if the book for the third or fourth edition will suffice? The seller gave me a friendly deal for The Baroque Bohemian Cats' Tarot deck and book set. It's a first edition and unsealed, but he told me the cards were very sparingly used. They were in excellent, pristine condition so I believe him. Baba Studios is bound to release a theater-themed cat deck later this year or next, so I believe this deck is firmly OOP. One never knows with them though.

You only live once [until you reincarnate 🤣 but who knows if you'll reincarnate in a place where they have that deck?]
Tom Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 @Misterei congrats. I got the Victorian Romantic when it first came out. I followed the decks development on Aclectic Tarot. It's a beautiful deck. I am waiting for the Peanuts Tarot. I saw an ad for it on Instagram. I love Peanuts. I read the entire run of the Peanuts series. I can't wait to get the deck.

Tom Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 I just got The Peanuts Inspriation Deck in the mail, I’m sure that’s legal, it uses pictures by Schulz and is quite attractive. I decided to give my Pixiekins Inspiration Deck a rest. I also have Peanuts playing cards as well. The Tarot looks excellent. Honestly I don’t care if the Peanut’s Tarot is legal or not—the Shultz family is certainly wealthy enough to share some.
