fire cat pickles Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us! Please post with your chosen deck for the week. Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you. Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here. Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form. Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in. Bodhiseed Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I'm in with the Buckland Romani Tarot paired with the Lakota Sweat Lodge Cards. Thank you Fire Cat!
Rachelcat Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Ooo, Corte dei Tarocchi! Good one, Fire Cat! This week for me will be Liminal Spirits Oracle: Witch’s Spirit Cards by Laura Tempest Zakroff, published by Llewellyn. Creator is author and artist. This is a repeat because I bought the deck and used it as a deck of the week back in 2020. In a vain attempt to downsize, I figured I’d used it and liked it but it was too witchy to in my collection. But every time I see around (online), I remember how much I liked it, the art and the concept. And now I’m softer on witchy themes. So here it is again! (Her other deck has a different art style, which proves both that she’s a good artist and that I don’t need her other deck!) The cards represent natural items, mostly naturally, but some with somewhat disconcerting human eyes included. (The only one that really doesn’t work for me is the deer. It looks way too human. One of my cryptid decks has a “not deer,” and I think this is an example!) Enough of my blathering! On to the interview! Most important characteristic: metal One of the categories of items of the deck is “Artifacts,” natural materials that humans use to make things. There is a predominance of them in this reading: metal, bone, fiber. The deck is related to other esoteric systems (astrology, alchemy). It is changeable (like metal can be melted). You can create with it, beautiful things (like statues or technological advances) or destructive things (like swords and guns). Strength: bone Bone is the foundational strength of the body. The deck’s strength is it gets down to the basic foundations. And it’s what remains when the rest of the body is gone. The deck addresses what’s important and what we want to leave behind. Weakness: burial ground Very related to bone! This is more about the leaving then what stays behind. It’s a more human creation than a natural one, even though some animals have burial grounds, like elephants. The deck isn’t very good for actually connecting with the past or ancestors? What deck can teach me: fiber Another material. It can be made of plant or animal matter. The deck can teach me to weave meaning from the idea of natural objects. How I can learn it: mandrake By being a person! Everyone has their own ideas, and I can use mine. Book says it’s about romance, so I can learn to create meaning through loving and enjoying the world. Outcome of our work together: fish I’ll use the deck with a slick combination of my own interpretations and those of the author, effortlessly letting them flow together. One of my ideas of fish is that their lives are very different than ours, even alien. So the outcome is the deck will help me see things in a very different way.
Bodhiseed Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 This week I'll be using the Buckland Romani Tarot, created by Lissanne Lake and Raymond Buckland; this book and deck set was published by Galde Press. Along with it, I'll be using the Lakota Sweat Lodge Cards, created by Archie Fire and Chief Lame Deer; this deck and book set was published by Inner Traditions. Today's draws are the Queen of Chivs (Swords) and Spider: The Queen of Chivs sits before an open trunk with the hilt of a sword balanced on its hinge. The trunk represents openness; she will be honest and sincere and expects us to do the same in return. As she fixes us with a steady gaze, we realize that we will get only the unvarnished truth from her. Spider symbolizes becoming entangled in our fears of the unknown. In that webby darkness of the unseen, logic and reason are replaced by dread and terror. This queen would ask us to acknowledge our fears, then would advise: "If you can do something beneficial about this situation, do it. If you are powerless to change or influence it, then work on acceptance. Either way, worry is wasted energy." Each time we are aware of fear, we have a choice: we can acknowledge our problem and work with it, or we can run away from it and seek refuge elsewhere: distractions, pharmaceuticals, weekend feel-good-about-yourself workshops, whatever. —Lama Tsony
Bodhiseed Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 @Rachelcat, I really like the artwork on the Liminal Spirits Oracle. Like you, I often let my intuition lead me instead of strictly going by guidebooks when it comes to oracles.
Guest Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 I began posting this week's draws using the Kabbalistic Visions Tarot here:
Rachelcat Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 I've been missing in action, but here are a couple with the Liminal Spirits: I'll be back with a few more before the end of the week!
