fire cat pickles Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 (edited) A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us! Please post with your chosen deck for the week. Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you. Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here. Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form. Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. Bodhiseed Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I'm in with the Urban Tarot paired with the Principles to Live By tiles. Thanks Fire cat! 🌻
fire cat pickles Posted April 21, 2023 Author Posted April 21, 2023 Welcome back @Bodhiseed! I'm sticking with the Williams Minchiate again this week (and probably the next.) It's an old time favorite and I want to explore new Minchiate al Leone Di Girolamo book along with it 🙂
Guest Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 I liked reading with the Kabbalah Cards so I'm going with it again this coming week.

In the meantime: Ugh! I’ve had so many decks come in that I can’t decide which to do next, so to solve my ridiculous indecision, I just made up my mind to do them in date-received order (but skipping over two historical tarots and two historical playing card decks!). That means this week is Oracle of Novice Witches: Messages from the Magical World! (Stay tuned for the rest of my new decks in coming weeks!) I had to show the insides of the box! It’s a U.S. Games deck with an Italian author and artist are Italian, and originally published by an Italian publisher. I think I went over this in the postman thread, but here we go again: The cards are: 12 female witches, legendary and real (including Mme. Blavatsky and Starhawk) 12 wizards (I like to call them male witches), legendary and real (including Giordano Bruno and Crowley). There seems to be more real male witches than female, but maybe that’s because their names are more known? 13 witch’s tools 13 animals/familiars All with keywords. I’m not sure why they’re novice witches? Or maybe the reader is the novice learning from the witches on the cards? The art is a little psychedelic, especially for the animals, but not as much as the unicorns! So with 50 cards, a full interview is in order! What is your most important characteristic? Baba Yaga, Life Cycle I like her birch trees and toadstools, meaning new beginnings. And her chicken-legged hut, of course! The deck shows the old and the new together, fairytale crones alongside second-wave feminists! What is your greatest strength? Cauldron, Rebirth Same as above: It’s traditionally witchy, with its witch’s brew, etc., but it can be helpful in real-world ways. It repackages Halloween witches as actual wisdom. What is your weakness? Dog, Loyalty Maybe it adheres a bit too closely to tradition? What can you teach me? Cat, Independence I would like to learn to be independent like a cat! Actually, I feel like I am to some extent. It looks like some witch on mushrooms has painted her black cat. But I don’t think a cat would stand for that. Too independent! How can I learn it? Prospero, Faith I can be more independent by trusting and having faith in myself. And by being empathetic and compassionate. Prospero was a very powerful wizard, but he only made good things happen (for himself, his daughter, and others) when he gave up control and revenge and began to act with empathy for his enemies and his servants. What will be the outcome of our work together? Marsilio Ficino, Tradition I get my Renaissance mages mixed up, so I better check the booklet. He tried to blend ancient and Christian ideas, and was an astrologer. So the card means you have to know the rules in order to successfully break them. The deck will lead me to research more on witchy history and topics. And I’ll understand and appreciate them better, even if I don’t agree with them or put them into practice. I'm liking it so far! See you around this week!
Bodhiseed Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 This week I'll be using the Urban Tarot, a deck and book set originally created and self-published by Robin Scott, but now published through U.S. Games. I'll be pairing it with an oracle I created called Principles to Live By. Today's draws the Emperor and Courage: Scott illustrates her Emperor as a mayor of New York in the midst of being lashed by Hurricane Sandy. She describes him as someone who "holds us to a higher standard of ethics," who "teaches us responsibility and morality with a firm and measured hand." It's one thing to wear the crown when life is good. But try it when there's a pandemic and no one wants to wear a mask, when there's been a natural disaster and everyone is desperate for help, or when social injustice is met with rioting, looting and violence. It's no wonder that the tile for Courage has appeared, when boundaries must be set and triage determines which concerns come first in a long line of priorities. It takes a tough person to take a stand on doing what is right and ethical instead of bending the knee to those who scream the loudest or have the most money.
Rachelcat Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Hi crew! Here's my last reading with the witches! See you tomorrow with next week's decks!
