fire cat pickles Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 (edited) A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us! Please post with your chosen deck for the week. Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you. Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here. Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form. Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. This week for me will be Fortuna Tarot Deck Amethyst Aura and Astrosoul Oracle Deck, two minimalist decks by Studio Artemy, shiny line art and text on a dark background. The tarot is silver art on purple background. (The same deck is also available in “emerald” and “opal” backgrounds.) Some majors are renamed, The Seeker for the fool, The Oracle for hierophant, and others, and there’s an extra major, Magnum Opus. Suits are candles, elixirs, keys, and talismans. It shows Golden Dawn astro attributions with modern planets extensions on the cards and info in the booklet. Booklet has alchemical operations attributions to the suits, along with several keywords, Golden Dawn titles and astro influences, text, and brief reversed meanings for each card, and a large-font quote for each major. The oracle is gold art on a dark blue background. It has signs with the art of the constellation; planets with art of the symbols and keywords; houses with a lot of text; the major aspects, some mathematical points, some asteroids, 8 moon phases, and solar eclipse and lunar eclipse, all with keywords. I don’t usually like cards that feature the constellations for the signs because the constellations are precessed away from the signs (the constellation Aries is no longer in the portion of the sky we use as Aries). And the text on the house cards seems excessive. But let’s see how it all works! I’m not sure how all this shiny stuff is going to photograph, so here goes nothing! Separate interviews, I think. Fortuna Tarot Deck Amethyst Aura (The art doesn’t look as iridescent in person, more just silver.) What is your most important characteristic? 9 Candles, Moon in Sagittarius It has its own unique energy, and sometimes has to defend that against more conventional readers. It feels (moon) intellectual but strong (Sag.). What is your strength? 10 Keys, Sun in Gemini Its strength is that it is intellectual (lots of keys/air). But might go too far in that direction (all 10). It’s also good at communicating its message (Gemini and Sun as what’s obvious). What is your weakness? Prince of Talismans, Fire of Earth I’m going to have to get used to princes being fire and kings air! I very much like that talismans are not pentacles, five points, but eight points! Is the scythe an allusion to Mars for fire? Or harvest for earth? Ok, I’m going with that: The action of gathering in what the earth provides. As a weakness, the deck’s uniqueness isn’t universally appealing to all, who might like more bright colors. Its strong action isn’t brought forward in its physical manifestation. What can you teach me? Lovers, Gemini Two very “twoness” cards, especially in this deck. I think this looks like a mirror (and very similar to the Devil), so I’m saying the deck can teach me about loving myself. And that takes understanding (Gemini). How can I learn it? Alchemy, Sagittarius Temperance is “my” card. I’m a 5 by birthdate, so 14 is my “potential” card. And I very much like this rendition of it. Even though it looks like 2 Cups. I can learn about self-love by understanding (Sag!) both sides or all sides, of myself and my situation. And realizing the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. What will be the outcome of our work together? 2 Elixirs, Venus in Cancer And here’s the 2 Cups, so we can see how they’re different! And this is my decan card by birthdate, Sun in first decan of Cancer. The moon (rules Cancer) connects the cups. So I think the deck is saying we have a connection already! That we will work well together, both emotionally (Cancer) and aesthetically (Venus). Wow, what a reading! And I really like how the astro info on the cards makes it easy to see connections I normally wouldn’t: Sag, Gemini, Moon with Cancer. Astrosoul Oracle Deck What is your most important characteristic? Full Moon The deck is expansive and a fulfillment of its mission. What is your strength? 9th House, I Know It’s a teaching tool that teaches about spiritual things. What is your weakness? 2nd House, I Have To be meta, the too-much-text house cards are its weakness! Otherwise I quite like the physical presentation. What can you teach me? Taurus It can teach me a its own version of beauty and pleasure. How can I learn it? Aries By just using it! Just start and it will be easy to learn and use. What will be the outcome of our work together? Sextile I’m very much still learning about aspects. I think all signs that are 60 degrees apart are the same polarity (masc. or fem.). That must be why planets that are 60 degrees apart are “harmonious” and “cooperative.” So the outcome will be that we will work easily and well together. Another positive reading! We’ll see how long that goes on this week!
Bodhiseed Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 This week I'll be using the Tarot de St. Croix, created and self-published by Lisa de St. Croix. Along with it, I'll be drawing from the Archetype Cards, created by Caroline Myss and published by Hay House. Today's cards are the Eight of Pentacles and God: Some people want to see God with their eyes as they see a cow, and to love Him as they love a cow - for the milk and cheese and profit it brings them. This is how it is with people who love God for the sake of outward wealth or inward comfort. They do not rightly love God, when they love Him for their own advantage. ― Meister Eckhart The Eight of Pentacles suggests a work-based focus, one where physical effort is expended beyond mental fantasy. Sure, a vision is needed as a starting point, but no concrete progress can be made until we buckle down to the tasks at hand. The God archetype (and Eckhart's quote) imply a ploy that people often use to get out of taking responsibility for any personal exertion. "If it's God's will" can suspiciously sound like "I'm going to let someone else handle it." It might be better to follow the advice of an Islamic proverb - Trust Allah but tie up your camel. It's the results we can let go of, not the work.
Rachelcat Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Sunday Let’s do planet in sign in house and then add tarot. Venus in Capricorn in the 6th House My enjoyment and pleasure (Venus) come from doing my duty (Cap) and working hard, as well as working on myself (6th). Key Words for Astrology: “Responsible, consistent, and reliable individual.” 8 Elixirs, Saturn in Pisces And my pleasure and enjoyment (Venus) are focused on thinning out and leaving emotions behind, not adding them. Saturn = limitation; Pisces = deep maybe hidden feelings. 7 Elixirs, Venus in Scorpio Here’s Venus again, now in Scorp as well as Cap. I have choices, but I choose duty. 8 Talismans, Sun in Virgo Here the two Virgos line up. With the Sun, positive aspects of Virgo, so I’m being cautious and sensible and responsible about all the choices I have for my own enjoyment. Wow, I didn’t expect all this to be quite SO astrological. But I think I’ll be learning a lot this week!
