Emperor reversed in breakup readings?

Featured Replies

Hey! So I did some research and Emperor reversed in a breakup reading can be some really intense feelings of wanting to get back together, as opposed to the usual controlling vibe of emperor reversed. But what's your take?

Hi, for me a reversed Emperor in a break up context strengthtens the fact one of the partners was arrogant and even abusive/controlling, so it's a relief you managed to go away from such a person.

A reversed emperor does not suddenly become a king of cups. He rather becomes an unstable Aries person, which is more like what @November described. If he is looking to get back together it might be for possessive or jealous reasons. Emperors tend to not like when they aren’t in control of themselves or their environment.

That's what I usually associate with Emperor reversed, and definitely not what I associate with this person and i know them pretty well. It's really interesting you said King of Cups @Raggydoll because that's my signifier card for them.

I asked what's gonna be the outcome. And maybe that's a piece of advice for my Aires venus

Depending on the question, the emperor might describe a person (any gender) or a situation or a specific energy. If it’s describing the outcome then the emperor might not be the other person, it could refer to you or to the energy of the situation. But we can’t discuss actual readings here, so that’s why I stuck with more general interpretations. The context of the reading - what deck you used, what question you asked, what the other cards were, what your intuition told you, etc. is what matters most in an actual reading situation.

I see it as a bit of a red flag in relationship readings in my readings, it's someone too dominating and controlling and that's why it had ended or one side has got away from. It can show someone getting away or needing to get away from an abusive relationship in the worst case scenario.

Generally in relationship readings it shows a power dynamic where things are unequal, there is no way around it and it will bring unhappiness. I think it can also show someone who is rigid and inflexible, someone who won't change!

Mary Greer said in her reversals book that the reversed Emperor is like the Emperor with no clothes. In the Emperor with new clothes fairy tale, the Emperor ends up naked in public due to his arrogance and vanity. They have become The Fool but then decide to continue with pride, despite a child revealing his clothes are not there!

So I think  the reversal can reflect too much Emperor energy or someone weak and / or humbled.

I was looking for where reading interpretations would go and figured getting general info on the card would be helpful too. For the future where would be a good place to look?

And @DanielJUK with the card in general,  reading aside I totally see the emperor with no clothes energy

This area is to discuss cards generally. Specific readings (of any size) need to go in Personal Tarot Readings

Please read the info at the top before posting there. You need to interpret it first yourself, then we give our views. Then the thread starter gives feedback on the help.

Your are welcome to post the full reading with this card over there

Awesome! I'll make a post, as for the one here it'll be good to get better understanding of the card in general:)

This reading continued in this thread here -

Let's keep this thread for ideas about the Emperor Reversed in a break-up situation, in general ways it can come up 🙂

I agree with other poster’s above. But also when I see the emperor rx it makes me think of a man who cannot fill a position in someone’s life. Like they’re not a good dad, they can’t be your boyfriend for whatever reason. They’re not a good husband or they can’t be a provider or protector.
