KingOfPents Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Hi all, I'm hoping for some clarification on hypotheticals. Does Lenormand play well with these types of questions or is that best left to something like Tarot or a different oracle system? For example, the type of question that often comes up when I read for others is "How would X feel if..." "How would X feel if I made this statement" "How would X feel if we met in person" ...etc Is there a better way to phrase questions like this or just better to avoid them all together?
gregory Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 (edited) Probably best to avoid them. But that question would be a third party one anyway, so probably against the forum rules. For a possibilities question you might be better with something like "What do I need to know before meeting X in person?" But I don't know my Lenormand so there is probably a better way to ask. Thanks @gregory. These are just examples of what I've been asked outside of the forum. Not planning on breaking any rules here. Now that I'm thinking about it, it's probably best to rephrase something like that "What would the outcome be if...?" I just don't know if that's even a possibility.

I just don't know if that's even a possibility. I don’t read lenormand and I’m not really a fan of hypothetical questions. BUT there are the rare times when they are helpful, like when we need information regarding a choice. On those occasions I might place cards to represent alternative A and then some cards to represent alternative B. The only way to know if that would be helpful for you is to try it out.
joy Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 In my opinion hypothetical questions are tricky. If possible it is best to rephrase to empower the querent. For example: what do I need to know if I make this statement. In your examples you can also just swap the 'would' with 'will'. But again I am a big fan for empowering questions.
DanielJUK Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Some people use Lenormand for predictions and fortune telling and read on hypotheticals. Why not try it? Not sure how it will turn out but think of it as an experiment. I think it still works best with precise questions, that you can go back and see how it turned out. I think feelings are notoriously unreliable, our feelings change on things all the time, sometimes hourly. There are some good question examples here, read on what could happen. How the situation will turn out? With the third party rule, you can post readings about what someone thinks or feels related to you. It needs to be centred on you. So you could post it if it involves you. But not their thoughts on another person.

I will try to run some tests in the next few weeks with work scenarios and my responses to see how this pans out.
