HI, I'm new to tarot, and would love any tips, tricks, or pointers for better interpretation.

I grew up religiously oppressed, and always have had a negative view of tarot up until a few years ago. Even after I released myself from religion, I always questioned the validity of tarot. Now that I'm venturing into it (I bought the eye light tarot deck by Violet Aveline at a Modest Mouse show) it's been incredibly enlightening. So many spot on readings, that it's significantly changed my life. Sometimes I find it difficult to interpret card combinations especially... I have also noticed that some recognize reversed cards and some do not. I would love more insight!

Thank you! I have had a few readings lately that I interpret one way, but then understand the combination could mean something else. For example: I did a reading for a friend who had questions about a new relationship. We pulled a simple past/present/future nature/feelings of the relationship. We pulled the Magician reversed, the devil reversed, and the world upright. I am kind of feeling like he pulled the interpretation he wanted to hear. I later realized the combination of the cards could be revealing an entirely different outcome. I would love resources for better discernment when interpreting

We also have a rule about 3rd party readings. You can only ask for help with readings that involve you. So a reading like you described above would fall under this rule.

Oh absolutely. I ran out of characters so I wanted to say I’m not asking for an interpretation. Just wanting more insight on how I can read these types of spreads with better discernment.

I know you are not asking for an interpretation but when you get to 5 posts you will be able to see the readings and exchange sections and have less posting restrictions. Those are the areas to best discuss readings and get second opinions and join in reading exchanges. We can't help with readings outside that area 🙂 . I think posting readings when you get there might help you get different ideas about the combinations which might align with yours or be different. Also we all have different opinions, so it's always fascinating!

I can relate to the part of growing up religiously pressed. It pretty much sums up my childhood along with abuse, but today tarot and spirituality gives me peace.

Tarritqueen I was constantly questioning how it could be so spot on if it didn’t have any validity. Allowing me to explore the things I deep down already know, but allow trauma and anxiety to get in the way.
