A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Thank you Fire cat!

This week I'll be using the Forest of Enchantment Tarot, created by Meraylah Allwood (artist) and Lunaea Weatherstone (author) and published by Llewellyn. Paired with it will be the Mushroom Spirit Oracle, created by Nicola McIntosh and published by Rockpool. Today's draws are the Six of Visions (Cups) and Octopus Stinkhorn:

Memory is where we have arrived rather than where we have left. ...In other words, memory is produced over time and under erasure.
― Julia Creet

I see myself in this young girl relishing the escape and enjoyment that reading brings. But my memories of what I read and how it affected me back then are probably not very reliable. As Victoria Chang put it, memory gets up and starts walking when something has passed. But does it matter if those pleasurable memories aren't exact? I don't think so, as long as I don't get stuck wishing for their return and forget to enjoy the present. I'll take joy wherever I can find it. Octopus stinkhorn is also known as devil's fingers; it oozes with a sludge that smells like rotting flesh. It's easy to see how this mushroom could be judged by its appearance and odor. But this stinkhorn is not toxic; its ooze is simply to attract flies in order to distribute its spores. Sometimes memories are not so pleasurable to relive, but they may reveal more about who we are now than our history. In those instances, it may be wise to remember the words of Mandana Chaffa: "There are many filters to our memories: who we are now, who we were when they were formed, the necessarily limited perspectives that each of us have, buffeted by context, environment, and the unreliability of our narration."

Welcome back @Bodhiseed 🙂

I'm in with the Folchi's New World Tarot again. Hopefully I will have time this week!

Hi crew!  I did my intro and interview on Sunday, but just getting around to posting now.  And I'll try to do more readings with this deck Thursday though Sunday.

This week will be another historical deck featured in Untold Tarot, Vergnano Tarot, Turin, 1830 ca.  Edited by Giordano Berti, Om Edizioni, printed in January 2019.  My copy is 428/500.  The box is bigger than the cards, but it came with a gold bag, which then snuggles the deck in the box very comfortably!  (Although it’s kind of hard to get the cards out of the bag because of the pointy corners.)

Wash, shuffle, interview!

What is your most important characteristic?  L’Angelo

The deck is a higher iteration of a classic.  It rises above other decks like it?

What is your strength?  VII di Coppe

It’s very emotional.  It helps us see all of the options before us.

Your weakness?  Gli Amanti

But not so good with romantic readings.  Or help making choices.  There’s no arrow, so we don’t know which one he has chosen, or even who’s doing the choosing!  So it shows the options but doesn’t do well in helping us choose one!

What can you teach me?  La Temperanza

A very similar pair of majors here!

The deck can teach me that everything is on a continuum:  We can slide along it, but it’s never black or white, one thing or the opposite.  This kind of ties in with the pair of cards above:  there are lots of choices, maybe even infinite choices, but that just makes it harder to choose one!

How can I learn it?  Le Stelle

Instead of eternally going back and forth (between the cups), pour out what I know or the blessings I have into the larger world.  Choose based on what’s best for everyone, not just for me.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  La Torre

Uh oh!  My least favorite card!  But it makes sense with the first card.  The deck can really change perceptions and cause me to let go of some closely held ideas.  And maybe not in a good way . . .

Well, lots of majors here!  And I really did shuffle!  So we’ll see how it all turns out.

@Rachelcat thanks for sharing a lovely historic deck. This one feels like sort of a hybrid between TdM and Italian Tarocchi styles.
